I never heard of Honda trip planner. I've owned my 99 GL for twenty three years and been a GPS geek since 2021. Somehow it flew under my radar. I won't miss it.
I started using InRoute on macOS and loading the route I created onto the bike. I was always disappointed with Honda Trip Planner, it just didn’t feel intuitive to me. I once tried to export a route I made in Trip Planner and use on another bike that had a Garmin, and all I got on the Garmin was straight lines on a map.
Its a shame it shuts down. Alternatives Kurviger (Android only) MRA (does have a nice offer at the moment) Myself, since I am not such a route rider, I use Google maps for navigation, since I always have my phone with me anyway.
The Harley Ride Planner gpx files will not read on the Goldwing. It does not recognize the waypoints. Only sees the start and stop destinations. I have tried using my Harley GPX files on the My Goldwing. Unless something has been changed in the past few months.
I've just made a couple of test routes in the Harley Ride Planner and loaded them on to my 2014 Goldwing. They appear to be complete with all the waypoints I included but I haven't yet tried it out by actually riding a route - but the Harley routes do look exactly like the Honda Trip Planner ones do.
