I've found that I can create many ski movements in the hot tub. I also spend time feeling where the movements affect my body. Of course the lack of gravity affects things so certainly not all ski movements can be fully realized.

so again just to clarify, for Steve the use of pivot slips is to help him with the idea of keeping his feet under his hips, or staying centred. Also helping with speed control and edge control. From there he would need to be more aware of extension and retraction and which parts of the body this comes from to then put into the bumps as this will keep the ski to snow contact?

Way, way too late I realised the importance of of hip joints, to be working as hard and in concert, with ankles and knees. Interestingly, you do not mention any drills involving short torsional/pivotal turns initiated only by ankles. Thaks for sharing.

If your COM is postiioned correctly would he flex from tails up and not center up?

Tom when you stand on your skiis you have to bend your knees and hips when you bend your ankles. Its physicaly impossible to stand and only bend you ankle unless your balancing on your heels

Tom Samu ueno is using the back of the bump to control his speed. He is definitely pivot slipping

My thought of Steve hé is nog stearing with his feet. Hé is stearing from his hips.

Steve has a confidence problem. He's falling into the backseat right when he should be toppling forward and sideways (impacting upper face of mogul). When the mogul falls away, he has no chance to pressure tips and carve down the back. Being forward going into the back of a mogul also loads the tips which store energy in the ski which then releases on the back also helping keep tips pressured down the back more quickly and easily. I actually think pivot slips will help in both slow and fast mogul skiing. Slow because it will get him positioned better into face of mogul by slowing down, but that is precisely what he needs to also do if he wants to have a prayer of going faster. Pivot slipping though the moguls is just a drill, not a nice way to ski, rounded/carved turns slow or fast require your weight be moving forward to pressure shins and tips on the backside of the bump. If he can move his body into better position through pivot slips it would be a huge unlock for him at all speeds skidding, checking, or carving.

It didn’t matter if you have long skis or short skiis you need some femur rotation skills and some absorbing skills.

They are not actually bumps. When you have bumps you have something - cones - ABOVE the main level. Here you ski on something which is BELOW the main level, in trenches.

Tom you don’t want early edging in the bumps that’s how he’s catching his skiis

The dude in the blue jacket needs someone to teach him how to turn his feet

Bloody hell tom I’ve never heard such nonsense. Take the boy to a steep hill. Tell him to start from the top and just do pivot slips in a corridor, and tell him he has to maintain his speed all the way down. He will learn to turn his feet.

He’s off ballance because he has no ankle absorbing skills. Get the boy some decent boots something he can flex

It boggles my mind how people can take something so simple and make it so mind bending difficult. My ears were bleeding while straining in anticipation of you explaining how to ski moguls. The Key in moguls is what you have to visualize so you will know what to do with your body to allow your skis to go down the hill. First off, forget about your feet and skis. They are literally the Last thing you want to think about. Especially in moguls!!!!!!!! I know that is the opposite of what you have always been told but the world's instructors focus on what skiing looks and feels like, not HOW to make it look and feel like that. Your main focus has to be about the placement of your upper body and what it has to achieve in order to allow your skis to turn and stay under you. You Lead a turn with your face, hands, chest, pelvis and kneecaps. In other words, you point them down the hill and into the valleys between the bumps 3:00 Look at the man in blue. His skis are going to his left but his body is heading down the hill and to his right. That will make his body fall that way which will roll his skis over which will put him on the inside edge of his uphill ski when he gets off his downhill ski to start the next turn. His pelvis will pull his legs over which rolls his feet over. You have to think about skiing down the moguls with your face and chest while your skis follow after you and turn against the bumps. They know how to turn, you have to do what they need from you. So what makes the skis change direction if you focus on your upper body? Two things. First off, your body will be twisted like an torsion bar. When you get off your downhill ski edge that is locking your lower body in the direction the skis are traveling, the skis will instantly flatten out because you are falling down the hill and the torsion in your body will make your lower body realign to match your upper body which will point your skis down the hill. Second, your skis will instantly get on the opposite edges because your feet are still going to the side while your pelvis is going down the hill which will change your leg angle. In all skiing, you ski from your eyes down, not from your skis up.
