Huge Place fan too. Love that these are distilled flashcards to his Alchemical Tarot. I don't know why Place doesn't get more recognition from the blog-o-sphere of Tarot - amazing artwork, well-researched, quality cards - the whole package. *shrug* Anyway, thanks, and great overview!

I really like Robert M. Place. I have his Sevenfold deck and that big a$$ book. :) I look forward to the deck he is working on now. Thanks for the walk through. I don't have either of these.

I loved this side by side walkthrough! Your comment about putrefaction vs putrefication got me curious. I asked Alexa to define putrefaction. Then I had her define putrefication. She said, "Putrefication is putrefaction." 🤣 Doing a little more "research" via google it seems that putrefication either is not a word, or possibly (what I choose to believe) it is an archaic term no longer in common use.

@@Josh-Mc Thank you so very much! 😀 Putrefication being a UK term explains so much! Even though I've always lived in the US I began reading books printed in the UK from a very young age. (Paddington books spring to mind.) I continued doing so until I graduated high school and have been a fan of British TV as an adult. When I was in elementary and junior high school I would often "misspell" words on class papers not realizing I was using the UK spelling! 😂

I really loved this one. I'm very impressed with your alchemical knowledge. I'm new to alchemy so I didn't know half of this, but I'm very drawn to it. The reason I watched it, aside from me being a fan of the channel, is I am interested in the Alchemical Tarot and I might purchase one. I could have sworn the deck had a card with a man with his face on his chest. I'm going to have to go find that one again but I'm still buying this. Thanks for doing this.

What a great walkthrough!! I'm just getting back into working with the Alchemical Tarot and finally got a copy of the Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery along with his giant tome on tarot, Neoplatonism, and magic. I'm surprised how quickly I'm getting through it! This review really helps solidify some of his specific meanings for these decks. It's also enabling me to add the Alchemical Magnum Opus deck to my new mini-collection, lol.

The Alchemical Tarot 6th Edition is now out - The Blue Sky edition. Place has restored the colours of the 1st through 3rd edition; parchment borders, silver gilt and the backs and slip case are blue. He's also reworked the World Card. I can't get enough of the Alchemical Tarot - I'll be onboard for the 7th edition no doubt.

I actually like the 9 of swords in Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery more because the figure navigates through a rope like the ones that tie the swords to the ceiling, almost as if he actually has power over them but a wrong move can kill him. I do like the Alchemical Tarot's minors more though.

Dissolution, not disillusion, right... Cool ! I'm wondering now whether exultation shouldn't be exaltation... For the Hermit card... Sorry to nit pick, i can't help myself... I would love to hear more about how you experience the alchemical world view! It makes so much sense doesn't it

Dissolution - yes. And for the Hermit - interesting that you caught that! The guidebook says ExAltation but the card says ExUltation... interesting!

Try Watkins esoteric bookstore in London, Robert told me they already have his 5th edition of The Alchemical Tarot (still pre order on his website). They don't have an online shop as such, but they will take orders via phone and email. They are slow to respond to email but also have a fb page you can message them on.

What pip deck You recomend from begginer? 🙂😊✨

I'm a beginner to pip decks too!! :) I'm of two minds about it - one way is if you want to lean into RWS meanings, in which case a pip deck with 'nods' to RWS are helpful - like the Cat Marseille, but if you want to learn a Marseille deck and approach it as a unique system, that could actually cause confusion.
