Thank you for showing how the old clear side clamps work. My mom had them but couldn’t figure out how they closed. I searched for videos on how to install them and I found yours witch actually showed you using them. After messing with them while watching this video I figured it out.

I got the side clamps for Christmas and hate them. I can't get them to hold. I have tried putting the batting in to increase the hold. They are not what I thought they would be.

I am sorry to hear that. it definitley is a technique. they aren't like a hoop hoding the fabric super tight against the other side. they are supposed to clamp straight the edges then held wth your other clamp, pulled taught and not tight. they give ou an even hold across the side but are not supposed to be a death grip

I loved the old ones, really dislike the new ones. They will not hold one layer of fabric and it takes both hands to use them

The old ones use to just split, the new ones I like to use with a 1 inch strip of batting and it hold everything nicely ! 1inch by however long your snappers are. That might be of help to you.
