Yeah it did. I liked it with the big ol whale tail flipper pods on the back. Still got a few ideas to try, going to mod them a little bit and see what we can make work.

LOL, you would think the haters corner would make the haters not want to comment, but it actualy brings them out of the wood work! Haters hate getting called out and not many RU-vidrs are willing to talk smack about people these days because everyone is so sensitive and gets butt hurt over nothing. Don't be hatin on my mangina! Your just jealous my mangina is prettier than yours! LOL No foam inside the pods or deck, foam is only for if you take on water and get swamped. The foam keeps the boat from sinking, it does not add additional floatation.

LOL, santa is bringing me a grinder and some hateraide for christmas for sure! LOL

I am still in the testing and modifying phase so I can't really give a good recommendation right now. But stay tuned because we are going to keep messing with them and see if they will work. The design I have right now is not doing so well.

Hateraide is awesome. For the grab bar I just ripped a handle off a hand truck and bolted it in real quick so I had something to hold onto.

It is nice having a little boat to get into tight spots. Just so unstable to stand up in is my only complaint.

Good advice. We decided to make a few mods and test it out to see if it will work before I just cut them off completely.

Scooters man... I tell ya, unbelievable.

I made some mods already, haven't had a good chance to test them out yet, but I will be back at it shortly. I got a few more ideas to try before I give up on these all together., and on of them was exactly like you said.

I have no clue on the outboard, I do not know much about outboards at all.

Already cut the tails off, ran it and it helped a lot. Going to do exactly like you and others have suggested and run them further forward and under cut so they force water under the boat.

25 is too small... how about you buy me a 90 and I will slap it on there.

Good idea, I got one more thing I am going to try next week and see if it works... if not I am cutting the side pods off because we have already wasted so much time with them, I need to get this boat rolling!

Agree with an angled bottom tapering upward on the bottom of the side pods. Thinking of giving the water a path to get past the boat without a sudden squared off hard edge. It is harder to fab, but fluid dynamics are important.

We are going to keep modifying them and see if we can get them to work. Already did one modification and going to see how that works.

Get you some of those beavertail float pods I have on the 16 foot boat and slap them on there. They work great.

Mounts like normal. Making some modifications this week, if they dont work the motor will have to go back further.

That may be the next option if I can't get the crest of the wake to meet further forward. Who makes a good cavitation plate?

@@SendItJonBoats I started out with a basic and cheap cav plate from mud skipper. They bolt right on and should be a quick and cheap fix. You want the prop to be right the top of the water and that cav plate can be adjusted to help that. Watching your video I almost think a shorter shaft might be your ticket. Then you would be inside that wake and may not need that cav plate at all. I’m switching to a surface drive before next season. Long shafts are amazing but the rivers I run have to many twist and turns. Love the videos. I’ll be using all your tips and info on painting for my boat really soon.

We made some mods, and still have some more testing to do.

Sometimes I drink 11 redbulls at 3am and when I can smell the color 7 I come up with crazy ideas and we try them out, and of course post them on RU-vid so you guys can laugh at my crazy ideas LOL

Putting foam does not make the boat float any better, it just helps the boat stay afloat if it takes on water.

That could be really cool. It defiantly helps the smaller boat be more stable for sure.

@@SendItJonBoats I notice a similar problem that you mentioned, there isn't enough water for the prop. Now we are fighting rice straw as well. My idea is to have less water drag and allow more water to go through not around the vessel. Making it possible for the shaft can be shorter. We mostly only run (go-devils) a.k.a also mud motors like the one in the video.

basically turning it into a hybrid version of a pontoon boat yet keeping its agility of a johnboat.

Yup, we are still working on modifying them slowly but surely.

Not 100% sure yet. I am considering hacking off the large part of the pods extending past the deck, adding some splash guards to keep water out of the boat, Send it and see what happens.

No clue what the best thing to do is, we are still experimenting.

Nate is good people, I get all my boat stuff from him.

I have been running them for a few years and never had any real issues with them. Big thing to remember is to run the carb out of gas every time you use it or else they will gum up like crazy. Change the oil regularly and they seem to work great.

Been getting a lot of good feedback from every one, and that is good advice. I think we are going to try a few easy tweaks and see what happens before hacking them off for good.

Thats a good idea, had a lot of good suggestions come in from everyone and I appreciate it. We made a quick and easy modification last week, will be testing it out this week and will have a video up on how it turned out.

We left the drain plus, just cut out a little boxed area around it in the pod so water could drain. I forgot to show that part in the video. We shall see if she floats, I hope so. I think we are going to try to modify the side pods first before I just cut them off.

Jets are not my area of expertise.... but apparently neither are side float pods LOL. I may do one in the future, but in the mean time, check out JDS outdoors, good guy with tons of good jet jon builds. I may have to do a build with him in the future.

Would if I could... we came up with the idea for this 10 foot boat so we are sticking with it and making adjustments to see what will work.

I agree, I had no issues with them below about 15mph, so trolling motor would be a perfect boat for side pods.

Yes that may be what we have to do. We already made one modification to them, got to get them tested out so we can see if any more mods need to be done.

@@SendItJonBoats that my tournament baseboard plans lol. The way the boat rides the front will plane clearly the water, no resistance, and slim straight line. Know thin worries my isyou sent full width with minimal flotation. I was gonna nba do standard pods on the rear, but have a 1955 johnson 25hp with 12 gallon tank......

@@SendItJonBoats So for air and most importantly water airshaper . Com will do simulations of models that you can send. They do cost which is the down side, like a good bit but there are other websites/applications capable of doing the same that’s just one of the top of my head. I’ll send some more.

Only down side is for the boat and idea you will need to create a 3d model. Im pretty sure you can find a 3d john boat model you can tweak though. To me simscale CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) like somthing you should look into.

Today I went to check on it as he told me a week ago and he hadn’t touched it yet, but, there was an air boat in the area where his tig welder is. The air boat wasn’t there three days ago. I asked him why and all he could do is apologize several times, took my boat home. Now in search for another shop that can weld aluminum. It has been there for two weeks.

@@SeanFischer1 man, I hate when that happens. I had that happen with a gun a few months back. I dropped the gun and the parts off together. (I ordered the parts beforehand because I knew it would take 8-12 weeks.) He told me he'd have it ready in 2-3 days. I told him I would be back in a week. I ended up not getting back for two weeks, due to a funeral. So, two weeks later, I walk in and he tells me he "hasn't been able to get to it". So I tell him I'll just take my piece and box of parts back. He starts hmm'n and haw'n about he'll get to it first thing in the morning. I can pick it up the next morning. I told him no, I'll pick it up now. After a heated exchange, he goes in the shop and comes back with the box. The case was sticking up out of the box and I reached over and pulled it out before he set the box down on the counter. It was empty. My gun was in pieces, in the bottom of the box, in a bunch of ziploc parts bags. My custom barrel however, was not in the box. He tries to tell me his "shop tech" put my part on the wrong gun and that gun has already been picked up. The truth of the matter; he had been working on my gun when one of his "regulars" walked in and saw my custom parts. He had the same gun and talked the guy into selling him my barrel and installing on his gun. He then called the machinist that had made the barrel and told him there was a defect in the part and a new one needed to be sent. I about lost my sh!t. I ended up walking out of there with my box of stuff and enough cash to replace my barrel, and have another shop put it back together, plus travel cost. (I didn't rob the guy, he agreed to it. I think, just to shut me up and get me out of the shop.) The next morning I called the machinist and informed him what was going on. It turns out that he had put the job next in line, and was going to send the new part to the shop, free of charge. So on top of it all, he was also trying to rip off the machinist. I recieved the new part about a week later. I paid him for it, plus a little bonus. (Actually, the guy at the shop paid for it.) I took all the pieces to a local guy that a friend recommended. This guy has a nice little shop out behind his house. He had me follow him back to the shop. Over the next 45 minutes or so he put it all back together. I sat there shoot'n the breeze and watched. He does great work, and will be getting all my business from now on. Since he agreed to my first resolution, I decided not to get all litigious with the first guy. Enough of his customers have learned about what he pulled, that I think that's gonna be a big penalty to him. I was buying an airline ticket to deal with that guy, and he knew it. Oh, well, I'm much happier with this new guy, and he's only an hours drive away. I'm good with how it worked out. I used to work for a guy, his rule number one, prime directive when dealing with customers was: Say what you're going to do, and then, by god, make sure you do what you said. I think it's a good rule.

I was talking with the owner on the phone and told him I came back to check on it and it hadn’t moved, yet, an air boat in the shop that was not there two days ago gets to go ahead of me and he replied yes. I then told him that’s not how business is done, first come first serve! Now I am looking to get a tig welder so I can fix my boat or find someone else close by that can weld aluminum. For now I went and got some stainless steel hardware and big enough pieces of aluminum and marine silicone and bolt patches to my boat. If bolts spaced an inch or so apart can hold back steam, should hold back water from getting in my boat....right?

I hacked the back part off where they extended past the hunt deck. We got to give that a try first, then I am going to make them extend more towards the front of the boat and see what happens.
