A quick example tutorial on how to easily setup sidechaining in Reason. Sidechain Example Reason project file can be downloaded here - drive.google.c... SKP ReFills & Rack Extensions - www.reasonstud... #ReasonStudios #SoundDesign
This was helpful. I just switched to Reason and it's taken me a little while to figure out how to sidechain. I kind of feel like the the "connecting the cables" thing just makes the process a lot more complicated than it needs to be. I understand that it's emulating actual hardware in a studio, but studios use ProTools anyway. I'm kind of annoyed at Reason for that, er, reason, but there are other aspects that I *really* like so... Anyway, sorry for the tangent. Your video really was helpful. Thanks!
It's an old method I used when buses were not available in the SSL console. Now, I prefer to use a bus for side chain. Way more efficient and professional.
The great thing about Reason is that there are many different ways to achieve the same thing. However, the method you mention using a singular sidechain bus is significantly more limiting as you cannot vary the sidechaining amount per channel unless you are using several busses (which is totally a valid way to do it but it's not particularly streamlined). It's also not of any use if you are working within a combinator, or like many users skipping the SSL altogether and only using the 14:2.
Interesting - totally different to the method I use (gate trigger CV using the PUMP rack extension). The audio method used in the video sounds very effective though. Good to know!
I Ducking ❤ it. 😁 ...Great to see you on here, going for it! I wanna do the same, old friend. I think I have all the gear I need to finally start YT... And some very interesting gear to work with, really. imho. I'm using a 'faux ducking compression' at the end of the chain in my granular ZOIA patch right now. It does some kind of magical things 🤣 🤔😎
Really nice way of sidechaining in Reason, i was doing different but prefer this now 👌 thank you! p.s really like the FAT50 been using it a lot lately.
@@SKPSoundDesignVery nice of you to say 😁 thank you very much! 🥰 FAT50 Has become an essential tool in my box since i got it, that's since i while now...I think i bought it when it was released or close after. Next/Still planning to dive in Q-FX but haven't gotten round to it yet. Looks to be right up my street also.
