Because if i end up needing to go to the doctor and it costs 10% of my annual wages then it totally negates the savings in taxes. @@deavyhick6803 the US spends the most in the world on healthcare and is consistently ranked around 30th in quality, 40 million Americans have no insurance at all and another 100 million have insurance that doesn't cover anything, costs are 10x that of other countries (at least), some states allow medical debt to be inherited, insurance companies get to decide if you get a simple lifesaving surgery or not. It's a bad healthcare system.

The ER threw away Grandma's dentures last year, basically costing us thousands more on top of that. And they don't let you bring your own meds either. If you're staying at the hospital, they have to sell you their own meds at full price, and they don't even get the doses right. And they TOTALLY ignore all insulin/diabetes needs, too. So it's a massive cost for horrible care. I hate them so much.

Ever since I had an US friend die of cancer and he telling me even after working is a** off, with a good insurance he would still had to pay 5k for a CAT-Scan for example (this was back in 2008). It started to open my eyes on how important it is to have a public healthcare system. And all the people that show their bills on Reddit, again, with good health insurance plans for years and end in debt for things like broken arms, simple operations and other things... As a family of 4 we pay £1000 for National Insurance every month but call to see a GP, you will stay in the call queue for an hour just to speak to a receptionist without any form of medical degree, then she will decide if the GP will see you or not- and most times it's not Then you end up exaggerating your symptoms so you could go to A&E because your GP won't see you.

Our government hospital in Malaysia only charges 1 ringgit malaysia (equivalent of 0.25 cents in USA) for a check up and medicine. Its only for Malaysian and not foreigner tho. The only cons is it takes up so much time for waiting. All in all still worth it if u broke af.

I'm from the uk and my wife's from America when I come over to visit I have to make sure I don't injure myself or get sick as just going to the hospital will run you like a 10 thousand dollar bill and im saying this with experience Healthcare system here sucks

In Australia most people will pay nothing. But the waiting times are shit. Or pay for private health care like 15-25$ a week and be covered

In my country we pay max $270 a year for Healthcare. So if I have to stay at the hospital for 2 weeks I will have more money in my bank account than if I was home since I doesn't have to spend money on food and stuff

Best bet is to get a job with decent health benefits. I normally do teledoc because my insurance pays for it all.

It's so insane in America, it would be fair if you paid what it actually costs for those tablet if you bought them at a pharmacy, but 50 dollars for one pill is just fucking insane
