@Matthew McGhie Makes no sense for him to fake it. Lemieux owns the pens (partially now) the pens where on the verge of being relocated to Kansa's. Crosby saved the penguins franchise and made Lemieux money and cups. Also they have a great relationship
Likely? Crosby is a 100%, hands down, no questions asked, guaranteed first ballot lock. He’s going to go down as a top 10 player all time. Maybe higher. Dude should get his own wing in the HOF.
And now Crosby opening the 2023-24 season facing off against Bedard almost 20 years later. Quite the overlap… Lemieux debuted in 1984 and Bedard may play well into the 2040s!
Not every #1 pick is a generational player. I mean players like Crosby, and McDavid come around about every 10 years. There are alot of good #1 picks that are not in that category, but HOFs
Was she though, either she’s not up to the hype or they had the worst sound guy because she was very very quiet. Think it’s the quietest rendition of a National Anthem I’ve heard.
@@davestevens3252 And oilers have/had RNH, T.Hall, Drai, Klefboom and Talbot (Had a better sv% than fleury some years). Mcdavid doesn't have to win a cup like sid but the fact he couldn't even make playoffs with a team with similar players to 08 pens shows the difference between the two players.
@@reehanshahparast8315 or the parity of the league. In 05-06 there were so many nhl regulars that were not that great. There were still goons. The skill level as a whole has increased, the goalies have gotten better. It’s much more difficult to stand out these days.
Thank you so much for posting this video! As a hockey fan, it’s amazing to watch Sidney Crosby’s very first NHL game! I remember how much anticipation there was towards him in the summer of 2005. He’s been a legend from the very beginning of his career and he will be in the HHOF one day! I’ve always loved to watch him play-to be barely 18 years old and dominating the NHL is a truly incredible accomplishment! Crosby is a LEGEND and a Canadian ICON!
I went to the last 2 games at the Igloo in 2010. I grew up a Pens fan, later switched to Carolina because back to back Cups really brought out some people who made it no longer fun to cheer for them, and it felt like a pilgrimage. I still have the metal tickets they gave out to everyone in attendance commemorating the final game in the regular season at the Igloo. PNC Arena is awesome, especially in the playoffs, but the Igloo will forever be the greatest arena I've ever been to.
Hindsight is so crazy. At the point when Crosby debuted, not only was Mike Lange still doing the TV broadcasts, not only was MARIO LEMIEUX STILL on the team, but friggin John Barbero was STILL the PA announcer. Still doesn't seem like Crosby has been around THAT long...but he has.
Crosby in my opinion is still better than Ovie. Crosby knoes how to lead a team to a cup. Ovie is just a goal scoring machine. Either way we are all lucky to have them out there on the ice to witness.
Man I feel so old I remember being 5 years old watching that and really starting to idolize Sid it feels like just yesterday!!! Time flies when you watch this and think it’s old time hockey 😟
My military roommate in 2005 had played minor hockey with Crosby and still had him on his MSN around this time. Sid's display pic was the team pic from the World Juniors. He's just another Canadian kid playing hockey.
I remember watching Oceanic ( QJMHL ) games just to see Sid the Kid ( although most people would call him "The Next One" back then ). He was dominating. I've never seen one player carrying his team like he did. He could do it all. One of his most underestimated abilities is his sheer strength. Even in his rookie CHL year, Sidney had stronger legs than veteran CHL players. He was extremely strong. Everyone who saw him play back then just knew he was going to be as dominating in the NHL.
weird little footnote: i was shocked at the end of the anthem because literally on every FSN/Root/ATTSN broadcast they have always showed Sid doing the sign of the cross at the end for as long as i can remember. it’s just weird not to see it here lol.
И когда Марио Лемье ступил на лёд, у меня прям мурашки пошли, нечасто увидишь лучшего игрока в истории, тогда Сидни Кросби только только начинал свой звёздный путь, а Марио Лемье его заканчивал...
@@v4v819I honestly don't remember. I need to find the stub. It bothers me that I've lost it in my many moves over the years. I had a friend with season tickets who sold them to me at cost. The hype with him was so much I'm sure they were ridiculously expensive actually.
@@TheUnforgiven69 Relax bud. Gretzky is not on some untouchable pedestal. Not saying they are better, but Lemieux, Orr, Crosby and eventually Mcdavid are a lot closer than you think. I personally say Orr is the GOAT and Lemieux and Gretzky are basically equal.
@@quix9556 so why didn’t anyone else put up numbers the way Wayne did ? I understand you don’t like him but to have that type of opinion makes you an idiot. Someone that knows absolutely nothing about the game of hockey. You’re a goof
These are the type of moments where I wish I knew what was goin through someone’s head. Man it’s gotta be a crazy feeling to be sid during that opening anthem lol
You know you feel old when Sidney Crosby and Christina Aguilera look young here. But you know you feel like shit when they are still performing and look good today.
