From Sidney Poitier's upbringing in the Bahamas, to struggling as a working actor in Harlem, his friendship with Harry Belafonte, to being the first black actor to win the Academy Award for Best Actor, to starring in "In the Heat of the Night" and "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" in the same year, to the Cold War and the Red Scare, to inspiring a whole generation of African-American performers including Oprah Winfrey, Denzel Washington.
