Sidonia you are absolutely amazing! I've been wanting to learn how to make seed bead jewelry and your tutorial give me just what need to learn! Thank you. Your brilliant and your work is stunning!
what a difference it makes when you use miyuki! i tried with toho, and it was a loose mess. when i used miyuki it was perfect. thanks for the beautiful ring and great tutorial
I really appreciate your tutorials Sidonia... they're perfect! This ring is also beautiful... I just made one and it turned out great! Thank you so much for sharing.
I absolutely love your youtube tutorials. I have made the beaded cap earrings, the half tila earrings, the sunset glare earrings and this beaded solitaire. You are a wonderful teacher and designer. Can you possibly do a bezeled 8 mm x 10 mm oval chaton? Also, I would love to see how you would make a bezeled oval fancy stone. Your designs are so intricate yet easy. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
Wow, now I can directly translate here, I don't need to copy and paste from here to Google Translate anymore! This is so great! Thank you, I'm really happy you like it and most of all, that you approve! :D Sidonia
Sidonia, meu nome é Madalena e moro no Brasil.
So Beautiful Sidonia & i really appreciated the fact that you have change the color for the green one to end-up your Bezel because it's very easy to see what you doing specially you are very Bronzy color fan of your Design's & it's hard sometime to see all of your step whit this Bronze color so Thank's Sidonia, great tut vid. & I really love this Fabulous Ring:-)
Thanks, Sylvie :-) I'm sorry for the bronzie seed beads, I use them because they easily match with almost any color. I would so much like to try new colors, but where I live there aren't beads stores, so I have to buy everything online and the thing is I have lots of them, bought online, I don't use because they are not like I thought they were when I bought them.
OoooH! I'm so sorry for you Sidonia because all of your Design's are so Beautiful & it's fun to be able to play whit other colors!! Thank's for your response to me:-)
Hello, I just love your talent you make absolutely beautiful jewelry. On the solitaire ring do you make written instructions where I could purchase it.thank you
Hello Sidonia. If I use miyuki deli a beads what kind of adjustment can I make to hold the chaton a bit tighter. When done using your instructions it's a lil bit loose. What would you recommend?
I made this, but the chaton would not fit snugly, I guess my beads weren't miyuki, so I snugged the ring up with some picots on top of the chaton and around the bicones. It mostly covered up the chaton, but it looks nice. Wanted to add a photo, but don't see where I can add that in this post. Anyway, I love your work. Will try this again, but will use Miyuki seeds next time....
Looks like Miyuki is the key. I didn't have them, so I used TOHO. The basket was then too large, so I used a size 47ss Rivoli. It fit great, but several 15.0's broke as I made so many passes through them. I think it's also important to use darker bicones so you don't see the thread passing through them. Can't wait to try it again with proper materials! Thanks for the tutorial!
Sidonia's handmade jewelry Anche io ho usato le Toho e l'incastonatura è venuta troppo larga. Devo ritentare con le Miyuki, che son più piccoline. L'anello è carinissimo, come tutto quello che fai tu. Brava, brava, brava!!!
Hi Sidonia, a question for you. the cage for my naughty chaton seems big. could my tension have been to loose? or could it be because I used 15/0 toho seed beads and not miyuki? love this ring and want it to come out right. thanks for you reply.
What a beautiful design! Couldn't wait to make it, but although I'm using a ss39 and miyuki 15/0's, the chaton is loose in its casing and keeps falling out of it. What else could I do? Please help, because I like the design so much!
Hello. How much fire line are you using? I've skimmed through twice but didn't catch it. Thanks! It is beautiful and would like to try to make some for Christmas gifts :)
hi, thank you for this beautifull video but it's to larg for the chaton 8mm. I have take 8 mm blue zircon chaton, 3mm blue zircon bicone and miyuki 15/0 but dosn't fit. :( sorry for my english !
Every tutorials are wonderful, especialy your rings! The only problem for me is the band made with 15/0 every time I try to reenforce the beads brake, and I'm always finish my ring . Can you give me any ides of making m band her it is attach at the component? Thank you.
I love this video! I have a lot of vintage 16mm chatons that are perfect for this. How many bicones would be needed? How many extra rows would be needed to keep the chaton in place?
Hi, Heather! I think you are talking about Rivolis, if so, check this video on how to bezel a 16mm one. Sidonia's handmade jewelry - How to bezel a 16mm rivoli
I love your projects, I worked succesfully on your beded bead, I am getting through the "making the ring look square with the rivoli". Refering to this Project, I would like to ask you where I can buy it or where did you buy the "Blue Zircon Swaroski Chaton", Thanks for your lovely tutorials.
This is a beautiful ring! I have never made jewelry before and I want to try this but I have a few questions: 1. Can I use rivoli instead of chaton? (Or are they the same thing?) 2. What is size 12 beading thread? The online store I am using only has Size 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, B, or D. 3. What is size 0.15 Fireline thread? The online store I am using has 4lb, 6lb, 8 lb, etc. 4. What type and size needle are you using? Thank you so very much for your time and your lovely designs!
Thank you! :-) 1. If you weren't a beginner, I would have told you to try and modify the number of the seed beads in order to adapt the pattern to fit a rivoli, which is not the same thing as the chaton. Chatons have a diamond shape and rivolis have a bicone shape. Chatons are also a bit more "fatty" than rivolis. 2. Here is a link with a size conversion chart www.laughinghens.com/knitting-needle-sizes.asp 3. Size 0.15 should be the 6lb, 0.008inch. I also use 4lb. 4. I use John James needles; sizes 10, 12 and 13. Sidonia :-)
Hi Sidonia I love this tutorial and made it today. I was using the SS39 Swarovski chaton, seem that at times the chaton will not fit snugly. Is it the correct size? Or should I use SS40 instead? Thanks so much for the lovely tutorial, I really enjoy it!
Hello, good evening, very good creations, please bring the camera closer to your hands, sometimes you can't see what you're doing, and if you could put the number of stones you take at each step, thank you and congratulations.
+Bonnie King Hi and thank you, Bonnie! And same to you! No, a rivoli would not work because it's smaller than a chaton. Nonetheless you could try and reduce the bezel on the back, it may work. :-)
Sidonia, I have tried twice to make the ring because I love it! Both times, the chaton seems like it moves about in the base. I have followed the directions exactly. What could I be doing wrong?
You are probably using a rivoli instead of a chaton. The difference between the two is that the chaton has a diamond shape/cut while the rivoli has a bicone shape and it is also smaller, even if, theoretically, of the same size - 8mm. See the links bellow to see what I'm talking about: chaton encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS2-aRjKz_Ez4iXXdMk2lfZQCLzw-3taRofg5EGh-ndtWiXbg1mig rivoli encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSCjGUPNguodc_tba827GGyaphvcGNLYjFvu-1-2nLx6uMO3jCt
I bought an 8 mm Chaton from Fusion beads. It seemed like they were really short for the space with a little extra room around the outside of it. I reinforced the seed beads several times to tighten it. It worked, but is a little bunched in one spot. Thanks for your beautiful videos Sidonia! I really enjoyed the work you do!
I didn't try to make it with an 8mm round, so I don't know, but I would like to try it one of this days and if I'll succeed I will make a tutorial. Sidonia :)
