Hey gang, I'm back after a few months away with a new review, Siege!....or...Weapons and Warriors....or Battle Knights.....or castle storm. They're all the same game just with a different box and name. This is another table top warfare game where you're firing cannon and catapults to destroy your enemy.
Apologies for the break from the channel but real life got a bit crazy and I needed to step away for personal reasons. I've been working on some new reviews and have a ton of new games to show you all!
DFTA turned 5 last week, 5 years of doing this! And I've enough game to see me through another 5! DFTA also passed it's 2000th subscriber back in January so to all who've supported the channel along the way, thank you, it means a lot to me.

I had this as a kid, but over here it was called "Weapons & Warriors". The pieces were all the same, but the castle plastic was a darker shade of grey and the soldier figures were red and blue for the different armies. It had a really dramatic commercial too.

Cool expansive design and instead of drawing cards that describe what you're going to do, you actually get to shoot little weapons that take out soldiers and destroy castles. I would've liked playing with this one when I was a kid.

I remember seeing someone tackle this game online in my youth. Looks like a fun game…after getting some protective gear to play it that is.

Great to see you back!!! Love your reviews and style. Defo many trips down memory lane lol. I remember begin dead jealous of a friend of mine who had Crossbolts and Catapults - played many a game. This game I don't remember. Maybe I was too engrossed in The Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs lol loved that game.

after 30+ years still finding castle storm bb's under the fridge... but wait! siege has horsed knights? holy cow! and the forestmen have their own turf and tents? nooo that's attention to detail!! on castle storm we didn't have those!!! still top notch game though!!

I had castle storm as a kid.... My most played game but the castle side always had a fair advantage...

What a great review. I had some much fun with this game as a kid. Really brings back wonderful memories of my Dad and me on the living room floor. We were finding orange cannon balls around the house for years! I'm jealous of some of the later printings that had the knights and archers. Those weren't in my box.

Nice review - always fun to see close ups of action features "exploding". 😁 You're right, there are SO many variations of this game and each one has slightly different components! For example Castle Storm doesn't have the archers, knights, field cannon, stakes or tents your version has - in fact, even "Siege - The Game of Battle Action" doesn't have these, even though "Siege - Castle Combat Game" does! And Battle Knights doesn't have any defense shield, but instead has a palisade, which none of the other variations possess. All in all though, I think Crossbows & Catapults is the better game in my heart.

Admittedly I agree, crossbows and catapults is the better game. Being able to customise your layout, learn from previous games and improve defences makes it a far more involved experience. I’d argue too that the action elements of crossbows and catapults is a little easier and fairer. The drawbridge, portcullis and tower in Siege are incredibly difficult because they’re not all at ground level and shots at them…it’s more or less luck if you hit them right. Crossbows and catapults, that door on the catapult tower that launches the man on the top, that’s a far easier shot to make. I think crossbows and catapults is more balanced as a game too

Probably best to wear eye protection when playing. PS Large artillery crossbows were called ballista/ballistae. Looks like a lot of fun to play though.

I've seen it, the toy company I work for actually licensed it in the UK... I've got Tornado Rex and I think it does a better job at the concept, the top is much more powerful :)

Great video Luke! Out of interest which do you prefer out of this type of board game? I am interested in getting one of these games but unsure which one to get. I see reproduction games are doing a version of crossbows and catapults so might wait for that just not sure.

Of the two, I think you’d get more enjoyment out of crossbows and catapults. Being able to build and design your castle and fortifications is a big part of the gameplay. With weapons and warriors, it’s always going to build up the same way. Also, crossbows and catapults limits you to two shots a turn so it feels like it’s a faster game for it, you’re not waiting for your turn
