That is a great idea. I honestly don't use a lot of simulation tools because I have had access to demonstration units or real hardware in our shop. There are some really cool tools such as PLC SIM Advanced, SIMIT, and even go as far as controlling 3d models of your hardware using real PLC code using NX MCD. My company sees the need to learn all these tools in the future, but we have so many jobs with the basics its hard to learn the real advanced stuff. I will try and start using PLC SIM more in future videos though. Thanks for recommendation!

That way the channel gets the watch hours! 🤣 Seriously, though, I am actually really familiar with the LaxisCtrl library and the PD data types. I taught a class with LaxisCtrl when they first came out with them. As for the PD types, I have mentioned them quite a few times on my streams. Is there something specific you are looking for?

Thank you for your support! I haven't made it easy to find information recently because I haven't had time to add chapters. There is a ton of information that is just part of a bigger discussion that you would really have to dig to find so I don't mind helping at all.

There are a couple things that could be happening with your Telegram 105. I believe that 105 is only available in SERVO control. Since you are using a resolver, you can run any motor in SERVO control. With your single axis control unit this would not be a problem. Check to make sure your axis is not set up in UNIVERSAL or VECTOR (depending on which version on Portal they have different names) control mode. Second, it is always good to click on your PLC in the project tree and select Compile->Hardware (Rebuild All) after making changes to the telegram. This will make sure that your TO is updated. Finally, make sure you fill out the "Drive Connection" page first as it USUALLY fills in the encoder connection for you unless you are using an external encoder connection. As for Telegram 111, there is an TO called TO_EPOS that will allow the use of a telegram 111, but it has its own set of MC blocks as it uses the built in positioner on the CU3x0 and the TO is really just a way to easily configure the settings. There are instances where you might want to use EPOS, but mainly it would be if you are using a low end processor like a S7-12xx or something like a S7-1510 where you don't want to use motion resources.

It sounds like there is an issue with the telegram selection relative to what type of control you are using. To be able to use MC_Torque Limiting you will need to use telegram 105 I believe and then extend the telegram by right clicking on the telegram and selecting the additional torque data. When you set up your technology object you will need to check the box "additional torque data available" and it should be good to go. Unfortunately, this telegram is only available to drives that are set up in "Servo" control mode. It might be that your CU is set up in "Universal". What type of motors are you using in your system? I thought I stepped through this on a live stream, but I can't find it. I was going to talk this week about setting up a tension controlled winder and it uses this block so I will be going over this specifically. If you can join live you can ask questions as we go along. Thank you sir. I think the primary issue was the version of the Positioning TO that I was using. We have a really old 1515-2 PLC that we use for testing and apparently it was only supporting the TO up to version 2.0. When I switched to the latest model of PLC, I could upgrade to 5.0 on the TO. At that point it seemed to recognize compatibility. I was wondering why my TO settings looked different from the ones I watched you set up. It would be great to see an application of the Torque Limiting, so I'll look forward to that!@@jasonwattsae
