Yet another beautiful cover by an AMAZING musician. Great job Sierra! Props to one of the best songwriters of all time Kris Krisoferson. One of countless/timeless songs he created.
I was in attendance standing down low. The energy was electric. This was a sizeable chunk of real estate to preform to. Standing O. On her way off stage she took time to talk with a 5 year old girl with pen in hand who wanted an autograph. Thought I would mention. It was very sweet.
Kris got it down right. I saw Janis Joplin sing this in 1969 at Winterland in San Francisco. Sierra gave great credit to both artists. Beautiful, moving performance. Thanks Sierra.
Kris wrote this song. Yes, he got it write 😂. Sierra is a great performer, too. I prefer her renditions of traditional mountain music, but it is nice that she brings this song to life for a new generation
Unfortunately she’s probably too old to catch fire. She’s 35 but if she had been doing this including the look at 25 she would have absolutely broken out. I also think she would have been big in the 90s when alternative and blue grass were at peak popularity.
This vid is gaining 1000 views a day, only out 4 days. I was also there, and hell yeah felt the goosebumps at the relevance of the moment - the next rising supernova star honoring another great in her own stomping grounds. Someone mentioned this is this generation's Amy Winehouse. I would have to agree, but Sierra delivers way more earnest, open humanity. And I love Amy Winehouse. But yeah, only comes along once a decade, if that. I hope Sierra reaches a lot of hearts! We need it!
I have! Saw her at a festival a couple of years ago and was absolutely captivated! I grew up on the land of country music but it's not my thing (I like a couple of singers, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, etc, but don't really listen) In fact I didn't know Sierra sang country when I went to see her set. Someone just said she was worth hearing so I went. So glad I did! I don't understand why she's not the biggest star in country right now! But that's OK. I love her and can't get enough. I recently bought a ticket for s festival just to hear her (I did stay to hear Charley Crockett, also amazing!!) Give me more!! More more!!
Me too. I was at that Lincoln Hall show in Chicago...pretty awesome... And Jaime Wyatt was the opener and she ain't too shabby either... Just heard her on E-town and she sounded excellent.
When a crowd recording is this good, you know you're in the presence of a great talent. I'm a guitar player, and lead player paid dues in practice land!!!😂
Damn!!!!!! Phenomenal!!!!!!! I have seen her twice, but she’s yet to cover Janis when I’ve seen her. Hope to witness this one day!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!!!
Just saw her a week ago for the second time and she did this one! Such a great cover, she does Janis justice! Fantastic!! If you’re catching her this tour, she’ll likely play it. 🩶🩶🩶
Probably been said already, but Kristofferson wrote Me and Bobby McGee for his good friend Roger Miller, who recorded the first version of the song i heard.
Better than I expected. Brave to cover this when you have Joplin herself and vocalists like Leeann Rhymes to compare to. Sierra Hull is like the vocal version of a session guitarist- she’ll pull of anything without being “bad” and do well most of the time.
This was a masterful homage to Janis! She nailed all the details without trying to impersonate her. I don’t think there’s another singer out that could come close. TL4E Sierra!😻
Fortunate enough to have witnessed this show live last night at the Warfield. About every 20 years an artist comes along that moves me. Last one was Elliot Smith now this little Gem. Hope she is in for the long haul. She’s a special one.
