After attending a friend's wedding at Daet, Camarines Norte, which the date coincided with a long weekend, my friends decided to have a "side trip" to Mercedes for a island hopping activity.
Few minutes from Daet, Mercedes is a municipality of Camarites Norte which is home to what they call Siete Picados or the Seven Islands composing the Mercedes Group of Island.
From the Mercedes Port, we were picked up by our tour guide - Bel. Our first destination was Apuao Grande Island which is our based island and spent the night camping. The islands we visited aside from Grade were:
Apuao Pequeña Island - good also for camping and has two sides beach
Malasugui Island - where you can visit a long sand bar
and Canimog Island - where we visited the Nature's Pool (tidal pool)
At Apuao Grande Island, do not miss to hill for sunset watching! There's also a small barrio on the island where you can immerse yourself with the locals!
By the way, do not forget to buy fresh your fresh island seafoods at Bulungan Pandawan (Mercedes Seafood Market). A must!
