The whole world saw the Ethiopian Lady try to block Sifan from passing, first on the right then on the left. Terrible sportsmanship! This looks bad on Ethiopian team.
If you watch the race Tigisti tried to black her path several times , which is unsportsmanlike. She tried to run around her from the right then she drifted in her path then she tried from the left and she again blocked her . She has no choice but to run past her with contact
I watched it. Hassan was passing her, and she literally tried to close the door and cut off the path as Hassan was already on it. For them to protest it, is utterly ridiculous.
Hardly heard any journalist congratulate them on their medals. Sifan won on the day, however anyone of the three could have won on another day. They are all top worldclass runners.
The Ethiopians hate Sifan. They tripped her in the 10000m in Budapest to beat her. Sifan's response was "it was national fall Day" in the Netherlands because Bol fell the same day. She is my favorite athlete and I am an old white guy from America. Go Sifan you make me tougher and stronger
She is the one that tried to block sifan twice. The second time she even looked back. I think its a bit sad they filed a protest. Some are just bad losers i guess.
Sifan is NOT a dirty runner ,they both made same move same time,it’s unfortunate but Sifan has been tripped and pushed in races and never blamed any except to say “ this is sport”
i was watching the live stream and wanted to Assefa to win after her WR in the last year.. but after watching this intervew when she is even saying that Sifan pushed her, this is so dissapointing !! congrats these women, but Hassan just deserved the first place
I get the impression that Assefa is under pressure (from her country's athletic organization?) and doesn't feel free to speak openly. She and her translator are being cagey about the protest and she's blaming the physical contact for her loss.
What a terrible attitude to blame the contact as the reason to not winning… she clearly didn’t have the legs to win the final sprint… also it looked to me that she cut off Sifan’s overtake creating the contact…
Don't be stupid ! Whether or not Assefa has the legs to win the game does not matter at all! Siffan pushed her and she would have fallen and even not get the 2nd position. Siffan made an illegal action
well it is not the first time they try to get someone disqualified this olympics, i guess its just how they want to influence the sport and want to win medals even when they clearly are not the best. or maybe its jealousy, but it is very poor sportsmanship.

ASSEFA's protest against Sifan Hassan was unfair. By closing the space and then protesting afterward, ASSEFA displayed a double standard. It's clear who won, and attempting to change the outcome through politics is an embarrassment to your country and humanity in general! Shame on you, and I hope you will behave better in the future.
She didn't expect the contact because she blocked her in like 2 times before and Sifan was nice about it not going through, but it's a running race, so if anyone Tigisti is at fault for constantly stepping in front of Sifan... Ridiculous that they contested it.
8:40 He totally mistranslated the question. He asked her what she felt about the race instead of translating the question asked by the ESPN journalist.
It looked like incidental contact as Tigst moved left, Sifan accelerated through the narrow opening. It actually looked like Tigst was trying to close Sifan out but Sifan snuck through as they bumped into each other.
Congratulations to these amazing athletes. All 3 were so incredible and deserve respect! It's sad Hassan wasn't there. I also feel the translation may not be good, so Assefa may be being misrepresented. I really enjoyed watching all 3 perform. Congratulations on your medals!
Unfortunately this looks more like a tribunal than a winners purse conference. Why are there no housekeeping rules that state congratulate the winner first, then ask? Why do sit people with their back towards the podium?

If that wouldn't happen the gold was for Tigist cs Sifan had an experience to fall on the truck and she pushed Tigst in one another ways (to fall herself or to discourage Tigist to decrease a speed ) any way don't worry they will conference each other since they are from the same respected country.
Weird atmosphere altogether. The contact between Sifan and Tigst is elbow contact, basically both were struggling to avoid falling down. I believe Tigst was surprised to find Sifan next to her. What I don't believe is that the contact made Tigst lose gold. If you look carefully at their running immediately after the contact you can see that both find their own rhythm and gait, and initially have the same speed. If anything Sifan lost some speed because of the clash. After that it was Sifan who ran faster and got to the finish first. Yes, it is sport, and yes, Sifan is by now used to how her Ethiopian competitors tend to want to cut her off. I fully understand Sifan, therefore, to have turned down the invitation to participate in this press conference. She knew how miserable and petty it would be, and she was proven right.

@@MrHenkfromHolland indeed and how can you not see that if they would have DQ Hassan that then in fact it would have been stealing medals, good sports ppl dont even want to win a gold medal by DQ. like Hassan didnt want the silver after the 5K DQ (btw also because of the Ethiopians).
