10 mm is so underrated. I see it as a mini hunting round. Very practical with lots of knockdown power in an auto pistol

Bought my first 1911 in '89 and it was a Delta! 10mm fan for life! Hey Sig, two words...double....stack! They did it in the 227, do it for the 10mm and I'll add one to my collection.

John/cameraman: Thanks for zooming in on the loader so we know how that works. Fascinating to see that twisted spring, too. That kind of makes my mind recoil for a moment while I think about the detail to attention in the steel process it takes to make that in Spring Steel. A lot of engines used to have dual valve springs for reliability, too. Beautiful piece of armament that hits like a rifle cartridge!

By far my favorite gun I’ve ever owned. I also bought this exact single action only model, and I am a Sig fan boy. So I love the decocker “safety side” Sigs, but in 10mm this sao model is the best factory trigger in my opinion anyway.

That is a *gorgeous* piece. I know its a sig, and all sigs look good in the same sig way.... but with the satin & beavertail & grips... its just a superb mix. Single-action definitely makes sense.

Its one of the prettiest pistols out there, the stainless rosewood grips. Hickok45 how many 10mm pistols do you and John own and you & John should do a 10mm slug fest. It would be a great video.

These have some of the tightest springs in the magazines, they will wear your thumbs out! The gun is truly one of the best guns I've ever owned or shot!!! I did go with the Double/Single action, the trigger is SO smooth!

You're correct, the back version, 9mm, double action, lower part aluminium is the swiss military service pistol since 1975, and still is today. However, it is only issued to staff ranking officer or higher. So I carried the SIG 550 during service, I then obtained ownership of it and I still shoot and like it. I consequently ended up paying for the P220 which I just needed to have. ;)

Picked up the Sig P220 Hunter 10mm SAO a month ago. Sixth Sig and fifth 10mm in the hoard. First Sig I had to send back as the rear sight fell out of the dovetail. Sent the slide back and they had it fixed in a day. Only complaint was the 4 days of shipping to get it back. 500 rounds through it now no other problems.

Just to let you know Mr. Hickok, you are living this 14 year olds dream right now! My dad takes me shooting but I hope to have as much fun as you do one day

Mmmm...I'm retired now. Going to RV the States, we've been RVing and Campers my whole life. Looking for a 10mm but didn't want the Glock. Debating heavily on the Delta and actually owned one back in '85. Just didn't want to spend the money on extras, I know I'll do. You know the basics...trigger, sights, beaver tail, mag well, bushing fit, etc, etc. This SIG ELITE really has my attention. For an out of the box....I don't think much compares to it. Thanks for the eye opener.

The Elite or my G20 with LWD barrel are my two go two pistols for woods carry when I'm away from my .458 at the campsite. I load a hard cast 200gr around 1330fps from my G20 and it is a phenomenal woods load. For two legged threats I like a 135gr Nosler at 1490 or 165gr Bonded Speer bullet at 1410. Typically using AA #7 or TiteGroup powder for 10mm premium loads and W231 or Bullseye for target/range loads.

Sig needs to make a double stack 10mm. Would buy.

10mm SIG? Didn't even know such a pistol existed, and it sure makes a nice change from all the 5.56mm AR15s and .45 1911s :P The rustling, falling leaves also produce a pleasing ambience :)

I know I'm late! But I am slowly becoming a fan of 10mm! I am thinking of getting the Glock 20 10mm? Think that's right? 20 an 40 if my memory is correct? With that said! I must say that the Sig he is shooting is a prime example of a older real steele real deal firearm! One of the most beautiful 10mm I've ever seen! Those handles on the grips! When you were shooting at the red plate around 7:45 to 8 minutes, the video was zoomed in and you can actually see the bullets flying and impacting. Super cool man.

18:55 Sig (-Sauer) P220 in Switzerland is the "Armeepistole 75", 9+1 Rounds in 9mm Para; non military versions exist in 7.65 Parabellum.

Nice review, as usual, Hickock. I've owned Sigs since the mid 90s. Recently bought a P220 match Elite, along with several Legion series pistols. All have excessive trigger creep, and all of the Legion pistols have slide releases that require excessive effort to dis-engage, to the point of being non-functional for most. These are not conditions I expect will be cured with break in. Not acceptable on pistols at this price point, and certainly not on anything with the word "match" in the name.

While that Sig Sauer does look awesome. For about $200, to $300 less there is the Italian made Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match all steel in 10mm and it is double stack also, holding 14 rounds in the magazine. It's heavy, similar weight but all steel and costs a good bit less. EAA imports them, it looks like an over grown CZ 75. Great video and thanks.

There are few RU-vidrs who have that intro. Where you immediately know who is on screen regardless of what they actually say. This is one of them.

Sig Sauer are a well-made weapon system, especially the P220 10mm. However, the only downside that I encountered was the 8 round magazine, which is not an issue with the Glock 20 or Glock 40.

Same thing with my P229 9mm with rosewood grips. Best feeling gun in the hand that I had to buy it. Who knew Rosewood grips would be so comfortable? I didn’t! But it’s amazing. Incredibly accurate also.

My first thought when looking was that it kind of reminds me of the old Bren Ten. It's a "pretty" 10mm in contrast to my Glock 20.

I just purchased a Sig Sauer P220S in .45acp at a Gun Show. It has the Stainless Steel Slide and Stainless Steel Frame. On the right side of the slide it says P220S - DE - and it also says Made in Germany. It has the Black Polymer Sig Grips with 2 screws on each side. The gun has the large rear beaver-tail and it has Black Adjustable Target Sights. The gun appears to be Brand New and Unfired - but the gun came in the Red Sig Plastic Box. Under the bottom foam is a manual which is stamped on the front cover stating that the gun was remanufactured. On the exterior of the red box - on the side - is a sticker stating that the gun was remanufactured in 2011. The gun also has checkering on the front of the grip handle. I am assuming that this is an Elite Model - but it doesn't say Elite anywhere on the gun. The gun is stamped "DE" on both the right side of the Frame and Slide. What does "DE" mean? I am assuming it means something Elite. I tried looking on-line and on Sig's web-site but I couldn't find anything resembling this gun with the Adjustable sights. The gun does Not have the Short Reset Trigger (SRT). The private owner at the Gun Show was giving me some story that he purchased it off a Gun Shop and they weren't supposed to sell it to him because it was a special Police Only Model - but I did not believe him. So what do I have??? What is it worth??? The seller was pretty stuck on his price - so I ended up paying $740.00 Cash out the door in May 2016 in Northeast Ohio. The gun came with 2 Genuine Sig Stainless 8-round magazines. He even threw in a Blackhawk Holster still in the packaging.

Ive been wanting to get a 10mm for a while. Always thought it was an awesome cartridge and its cool to see it making a comeback. Anyway, ive been told the tangfolio/CZ 10mm cant handle hot loads? is this true? And I think Glocks are great guns but im not the biggest fan. So im down to this Sig or some of the older guns like the Colt Delta Elite or Bren Ten (not gonna afford that obvs). I guess my question is this Sig can handle the hottest loads possible in this caliber right?

I think a lot of 10mm ammo is loaded on the mild side. When Colt came out with their Delta Elite in the late 70's or early 80's I had the chance to shoot one and it was a handful unlike the recoil you are getting which is very tame.

That is SOME muzzle blast on that handgun, holy smokes. I suppose that's what you get when that 10mm bullet is trucking well over the sound barrier. Beautiful handgun :O

Being from TN you may interested to know the Knoxville Police Department switched from the Glock 22 (.40 S&W) to the Sig P220 in .45 ACP early in 2015.

First pumpkin I have seen get a haircut with a 10 mm! Good shooting and a beautiful Sig. I could have sworn there was a terrified insect on that pineapple.

Had not owned a gun until 09.Bought a Judge 45 colt for home defense .Bought re-load ammo to save $$ to get more target time at a local gun show. 45 colt ammo 50 in a big plastic bag. Loaded up and shot it.Hit somewhere near the spot of aim .Felt kinda strong ,hmmmm. Then I found the shells shot and removed with only a little persuasion were cracked near the bullet end ,hmmm. Read the shell label ,was .44 mag or .44 something (gave them away since) in the 45 colt labeled bag I bought . MY BAD, but this new shooter, me, believed the label on the plastic clear bag over even reading the end of the shell .

The only differences between the 40 and 10mm case is the 10 is drawn out a little more and obviously not trimmed as short. I made 40, 10 and 357 sig on the same line with very little change-overs. Aside from the headstamp bunter, the only difference on the 40 to 10 is the draw stems.
