Still got a bad taste in my mouth from my early model P365, considered the 365XL for about 10 seconds before buying my Glock 48 a few months ago. The 48 has become one of my favorites, and it continues to function flawlessly.
Sig p365xl all day long. Comes from the factory with night sights, red dot ready, more capacity without having to buy an aftermarket magazine. Glock fan boys just can't give it up.
I’ve been shooting for 48 years and I’ve shot a bunch of guns. Shot a bunch of “out the box” brand new guns too. I’ve had some guns shoot well brand new without a proper cleaning before shooting, and some I wanted to toss in the river. But the later guns, after a good cleaning...what do you know?!?! They shot just fine. Now you can do what you want. But before I post a video about a gun having problems, I feel it is only fair to clean it and shoot it to see if it really has problems. I shot my P365 over 2000 rounds and never had one single problem. I take that back. I did have one light strike but it was definitely the ammo. Because I shot the same ammo in my G19 and had 3 light strikes with it the same day. My G19 has over 20,000 rounds in it, new barrel, new springs and striker about 2000 rounds ago. And I’ve had plenty of light strikes in it with various range ammo in the past as well. Carry ammo, never an issue. But no FTF or FTE with the P365 ever. Still, I want a G48 and a P365XL and will probably get both this next weekend. There are plenty of videos on here with both guns performing well and both having a feed or extract issue here and there. If you validate the “carry worthiness” of either of these guns based of reviews using range ammo, you need to carry a sling shot. Spend the money, buy 200 rounds of carry ammo and go rent one of these guns and shoot them. You’ll find they are both as reliable as any gun you’ve shot and carried before. I’ve never bought a gun based on someone else’s review. I’ve held off on buying a gun from a review until I got more data, and it was usually my own data at that. Most people tend to be brand specific. If they’ve had good luck with one brand, they stick with it and vise versa. Take all reviews with a grain of salt and definitely shoot the gun before you buy it if at all possible. The best gun is the one you can shoot and hit the intended target better than 90% of the time. I say 90% because most wont hit the target 100% of the time. That’s why magazines carry more than one bullet. And I have shot both of these guns before; but they were not mine. I’ll get mine this weekend.
Update: I did get the Sig P365XL and I got the G43X over the G48. It was weird. When I held the G48, I had visions of milled slide and a red dot, threaded barrel, etc. I already have a G19 MOS. But when I held the G43X, all I wanted was a comfy holster and night sights. So I got it. I have about 500 rounds through both with NO issues at all. Have over 100 rounds of carry ammo through each as well and they shoot the same. Have $250 worth of more carry ammo, +P 124 gr coming in two days also. Various brands. Will see how they do with these as well but I can already tell you, I highly doubt they will shoot any different. Both are excellent guns and my biggest choice now daily, is which one will I carry today??? Answer, I actually carry both on most days. Best spare mag is another gun! Don’t think I’m kidding either. Cracks up the guys at the range. I have the Glock on right hip with OWB Fobus holster with a light jacket to conceal. Sig is appendix IWB using a MIE Productions holster with an Olight PL Mini Valkyrie 2 light. Simple tee shirt to conceal. I’ve had no problems switching out between the two with point of impact in 10 yard shots. I love them both! I feel like that cartoon kid on the Minnion’s movie when she gets that stuffed animal!!! AYEEEEII!
@@Kornholeeoo what's the advantage of a 43X over a 48, no one has answered this question. I see none but I can give you at least 2 advantages of the 48 over the 43X.
@@LAYDAWOOD6 I don't know if there are any real advantages because we're only talking about 1/2" or so difference in length of the slide. Maybe one person could hide that better, maybe not. You almost always get better sight picture and a tad faster bullet with a longer barrel. For me, it was just aesthetics at first. I think the 43X looked better. And I liked the way it felt in my hand being smaller. The 48 felt like a skinny 19 more than a different gun altogether. Probably just in my mind at first like I said, but I've probably put 10 to 11 thousand rounds through mine now and it has become my all-time favorite and is my daily carry. I have 5 of the S15 mags and have two with the extra 5 rounds, not to mention I have 8 regular Glock mags too. I sold my Sig. After 3 months, I wasn't carrying it anymore. The 43X has won out of all my daily carry guns by far. It's the best shooting Glock I've ever shot. No Glock knuckle as they did undercut the trigger guard just enough. That was massively impressive to me. Actually, it's the best shooting small sized 9mm I've ever shot. And I can hide it anywhere. It goes with me everywhere.
Athletic Performance Shooting I think they will too. As long as it’s reliable. I think Sig would be smart to release a larger grip module that’s longer front to back. I can get a good grip from a bench but it’s really hard from a holster at speed.
I am interested in both of these firearms! So thanks for this video! I have held both but haven’t shot them yet. IMO these two are in different classes. The P365xl is still a “deep concealment” choice where the Glock 48 is not. Maybe I’m wrong but the 48 even with the S15 mags is a more comfortable to carry 19. Printing for the 48 will be more or less the same as the 19. I think all of this is why the 48 is so appealing to me! I can carry my P-10 in Florida summer months but at times it’s not comfortable. With a S15 equipped 48 your not giving up the fightable firearm but are getting a lighter more comfortable firearm! Last thing: I truly believe your trying to be objective but, it’s hard for me to watch these “Glock vs anything videos” when you have a blog on your webpage titled “Why Glock is Perfection”... Thanks again for the great video!
Two years later I can give you my opinion 🤣🤣 G48 all the way. It shot smoother, had less recoil and was more accurate. That is just my opinion. I tested both today.
@@erickcaba5471 No, but I had an X Compact in my hands the other day. I'm shopping for 1 more. I probably would have bought the HK P30 but it was a California model. It felt better in my hands than the P320 X Compact, which is what I thought I wanted.
I find the G48 more than a tad more reliable. I'd take the Glock with no sights over the Sig with a Red Dot. Good review honest, fair and balanced. Standby for the hate😂👍
Really nicely done Harry, great head to head testing and feedback. Completely agree on the dry vs. live trigger. Had the P365 been reliable at release I would still be carrying it and most likely would have picked up the XL and Romeo 1 for a secondary or even bedside gun.
The Romeo Zero had me really excited about this gun. But I'm not dumping a ton of money into a 48 to get the same features but I know it'll be 100% reliable.
Great review, honest, straight forward, no macho BS. 30 years ago I had money and time to check out almost every 9mm on the market. I didn't like the Glock, particularly the dart gun trigger, but it worked every time. I went through Walther, Sig, Browning, Beretta, Smith, H&K, Taurus, MAB, Sig Neuhausen, and whatever else I could find. I really, really, really wanted to keep the H&K P7. What a great trigger and compact pistol! But I couldn't learn to effectively use the squeeze cocker, even after 1500 rounds. I bought and sold a Glock 19 several times because I hated the trigger, but in the end I only kept the Glock 19. They need a lot of mods, but they go bang every time and they are simple. Now I want a 48.
I’m a Sig Fan Boy but I have to recognize that the G48 it’s an amazing handgun very shootable , last Saturday I did the same review on the range but with the G43X , and I prefer the 365XL over the G43X , I have to try with the 48 , but definitely 48 it’s a very good option to choose
I have a MOS Glock 48, with a Holoson Optic, and I had a trigger job performed and I have the Shield Arms mags. This is my EDC, and has been for about 2 years. I shoot it well, but it does have a bit of barrel lift, which takes some getting used to.
I have a Sig with the flat trigger and it is good for fast "offensive shooting".. For a CCW handgun I prefer the Glock trigger with the "absolute" wall.. In a defensive situation for a civilian, I think that would be the better choice.
I’ve seen other videos mention the grip length as well for shooting purposes. The 48’s longer grip makes for a better shooter - I’m told. I think at the end of the day, buy either, train with your choice. I seriously doubt there’s a dime’s worth of difference between the two when it comes down to it.
WISDOM: It is you, yourself not the gun that makes you the "best shooter". NOTE: The Glock 43X out sells the Glock 48, 3 to 1. For every one G48 sold three G43X pistols are sold. Just saying.
15 rounds with Shield Arms mag vs 15 round Sig and you said capacity edge goes to Glock? Perhaps you should learn how to count....15=15. I hope your holster makers are more intelligent than you.
Capacity is related to the size efficiency of the gun. With a 15 round magazine, the grip on the P365XL is much longer than the Glock. But I'm guessing you already knew that and just wanted to make a dumb comment lol! Thanks for the laugh!
@@HarrysHolsters You actually said that without the extended grip they were similar height...and they clearly were not. But with the 15 rounder in the Sig, the height difference is less than 3/8 of an inch and you call that much longer. Either you are a total moron or just a shill because you sell more holsters for Glocks. Try looking for a bit of integrity.
@@DA-rm5bh Actually close to 1/2 of an inch but even if it were 3/8s of an inch that makes a big difference for a lot of body types. I'm sorry the Glock does somethings better than the Sig and that hurts your feeling. The Sig P365 is a lot more size efficient in terms of Capacity than the Glock 43. Some guns will have advantages over others. Just because you're emotionally invested in one doesn't make it the best overall. These guns all have their upsides and downsides and there is no perfect world. I'm sorry you're learning that the hard way. In the youtube comments! 😂
@@HarrysHolsters huh? A full 1/2 height difference between the 2 with regular mags was deemed by you to be "about the same." Seriously, try to be unbiased....it will reflect better on your company. That said, I'm NOT a Sig guy....I only carry CZs because in my opinion they are superior to both Sig and Glock by a large margin.
1st Sig 365XL at 2500 rounds no issues, today was 500 rounds +p.. 2nd Sig 365XL is wife's range gun now, she put 250 rounds today and I did 250 for total of 500, Got it yesterday. Still no issues.
Very nice comparison. Both are worthy pistols for CCW. Biased towards Sig because I'm a smaller person with smaller hands. Even though my P 365 has been flawless the failure to go into battery issue is something I think Sig needs to address. It may have been the very tight magazines that require break in common on the P 365. Time will tell.
@@HarrysHolsters You are right, they will make good on complaints. Sure is hard on a company's reputation though. How many people will just move on with a sour taste in their mouth........
Everyone keeps talking about these sheild magazines, but has anyone actually seen them? Outside of that 1 short video, of questionable quality/integrity
I'm always very skeptical. It was not an intentional dig against Sheild. The video I saw didn't have any close ups of the magazine, so (if they where so inclined) they could have edited/cut the video to make it seem like the magazine they where using held 15 rounds instead of 10 or 12. I'm not saying that was the case, but I didn't see enough for me to know that it wasn't. Either way, I look forward to sell what happens. If their magazine works, I'm sure it'll find it's way into the design of at least a few new pistols
I really like that the 365xl has the ready to go red dot potential in a carry gun. Red dots will be the standard for pistols in the next 5 years. What do you get next shot show there will be more slim optics available other than shieldrmsc, and romeozero. Like you I carry the 48. I am putting money aside to get my slide milled for a RDS, hoping the romeozero is a decent sight,
After testing the XL I decided the 48 was more for me and it's off getting milled for an RMR. The RMR is a little big for the gun but I frankly don't have a lot of faith in the Zero given the price point. It'll likely be fine for a gun that doesn't get abused or shot a lot but I think I'd end up having issues after a while. I hope your right and more options do come out. I'd love to see a scaled down RMR with a couple different features.
@@HarrysHolsters yeah thats a bummer, those plates would have a big market i would imagine. I get why they did that but you should be able to change them imo
I have no horse in the race, but you state you changed out the sights on the glock. What other upgrades did you do? Shouldn't you be comparing them in stock form?
The only change made to the Glock 48 was the sights. I'm not big on modifying internals on my carry guns. Glock offers 3 sight options for 48 which I went over at some point in the video. Which one would make sense. And with the price difference you've got $120ish to upgrade sights from the plastic ones. All options come in less than a P365 XL(comes with a dot cut that costs roughly $200+ with finishing to add to a Glock 48). The Ameriglos are going to be equal to slightly better than the Sig sights from my experience shooting them on other guns.
The Ameriglo Bold sights are a Glock option from the factory - so, the gun is still factory-stock (and I'd guess most buyers ordering the gun will order it that way).
Great comparison video. I'm guessing your P365 is working itself out reliably. G48 with a better trigger might be the one to pick, at least until Sig gets it right.
These were the first 64 rounds shot through the gun. It only got worse which was half of my frustration in the 1000 round video. Gun showed a lot of promise and then issues.
@@HarrysHolsters it's a shame the issues Sig jas had in their recent years. The P365 makes for an awesome EDC for its size. If it only had no issues. I still have my 2nd gen and thankfully after thousands of rounds it's still functioning reliably. Good Luck with yours brother. Good Vid.👍🏻
Don’t understand the criticism of your review. I find your opinion thoughtful and articulate without the stammering, shallow repetitiveness so often seen, and your analysis is more comprehensive and penetrating than the norm. I don’t watch these things for entertainment. I own both these pistols now and think each has its strong suit but both are truly excellent. I will probably leave my 48 OEM. My 66 year-old eyes find the polymer sights easy to see, easy to pick up quickly and sufficiently durable for any civilian. Ten rounds are also sufficient for real-world self defense, though perhaps not for a zombie apocalypse and other statistical outliers. My trigger is pretty heavy but arguably safer that way, and a proper grip (even mine) keeps the sights from twitching when it breaks. In this regard, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Glock Perfection? Of course not. The ergonomics of my XL do achieve that though, in my hand. Glad I don’t have to choose and can simply enjoy both.
How do you expect to provide an unbiased comparison of your EDC (how many rounds through it...?) with a gun you’ve just now shot? Granted the issues you had with that unit occurred after this filming, but you spend much time making the same glock excuses for sights, trigger, value etc. You even have a sight upgrade installed (as it’s your EDC...) all of this makes it impossible for you to fairly compare these pistols for shootability and accuracy. You are not unbiased in this video. It’s obvious when you “read between the lines”.
Lee Holmes I think that boat might have sailed. These mags really aren’t anything special. They just made the walls on the grip thinner to accept a thicker mag.
The 365 looks like the first Sig I would like since the original Browning BDA/P220. Yeah, I'm that old. I shot in what was called a combat league in the late 70s and 80s, most of the time with customized Combat Commanders, but also a Browning P35 Hi Power. In 1989 and 1990 I had money to spare and I tried every 9 I could get my hands on from Glock, Sig Sauer, S&W, Colt, Walther, H&K, Beretta, MAB, CZ and a 1938 P08 Parabellum. I kept the CZ 75 and kept coming back to the G19 although I hated the trigger and the sights. 30 years later I still hate the Glock dart gun triggers, but a G19 is the only one I still have. Glocks don't hold a candle to my customized, pinned and recessed, S&W Model 19; but they go bang every time and the bullet hits the target 99 times out of 100.
I bought a p three-sixty-five w/born on date of Feb. twentytwenty. Wanted to wait and try to avoid Sigs quality control problems, if that's what it is. I've only put about two hundred fifty rds. thru it but I was surprised at how it shot, accuracy, reliability, handled, etc. I made the mistake of shooting my neighbors forty-three X. I knew almost immediately the forty-three X was the gun for me. I'll be getting one w/blk. slide and nite sights. The feel of the gun in my lg. but not extra lg. hands was perfect. Shooting, handling, etc. I feel is superior, at least for me it is. I think the Sig seems ok and I think it will keep on shootin good , until it breaks. More peace of mind with the Glock for sure.
Thank you so much for doing a realistic comparison of the two pistols. This showed me so much more of what to expect than a video of some guy wailing away at a big steel target at very close range and then calling it good. I especially liked the slow motion of both guns in recoil, and the fact that you went out to 25 yards as well. Much appreciated.
@@HarrysHolsters don't worry too much about it man. I'm an old PPC and Bullseye shooter and we did a lot at 25 and even 50 yards making small groups, but we didn't have to shoot quite as fast as you were trying to and we were doing it with much heavier guns and light loads. But we did have to do it all with one hand. The 25 yard rapid fire bullseye standard for us on the same target you were using was 5 rounds per string in 10 seconds per string, repeated twice for ten rounds on one target. At that speed all of your shots had to be in the black if you wanted to shoot Expert or higher. So you are really doing pretty well at the speed you are shooting with a small, light gun. If you slow down just s little I think you could keep them all in the black, but what you are doing is more realistic. Good work.
Thanks for watching! While I personally like to stay out of the drama the reality is all the channels I've associated with an worked with in the past have opinion and actions that can be counter to what I believe at some point. I personally would have preferred for him to resolve or disassociate himself from FFF quietly without all the drama it's not an offense that merits disassociation.
I haven't notice that much of an issue with Gen 4 or new guns or even My Gen 3. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that more people are holding the guns higher now. With any of these guns if you move the web of the hand down say a half inch that start failing to feed or eject like crazy. At least in my experience. Even the limp wristing my hand is high enough to offer substantial leverage against recoil.
@@HarrysHolsters if you look Tim/MAC and another channel did limp wrist tests holding all guns with just like 3 fingers off to the side. I don't know which gens they were shooting but the Glocks were way worse than others for failures if limp wristed.
@@jayw8768 Carpe Diem I think it's going to come down to the Generation and how high the hand gets on the gun. I just to shoot this style of isolation drill a lot for trigger work with my Gen 3 19 and never had any issues. And the Gen 3 are notorious for limp wristing. I really think is the ergonomics of the gun and how high people get their hand in the grip.
I have the OEM Glock night sights on my Gen 3 19. Cost me only $50 to ship em my slide and haven em installed and they're awesome; they're about 4 years old now and still kickin' ass. Just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone is questioning of their price point vs. quality.
Slot fillers? Yeah that's a good description of those crappy plastic factory Glock sights. Everybody chucks them right after they by the gun. Sig night sights are excellent right out of the box.
Not me. My 66 year-old eyes find them easy to pick up quickly and use, even the little ones on my 42. The big orange dots are admittedly better but not worth the money and hassle to me.
Nice review as always Harry. If you have a 43x, I’d be very interested in your thoughts comparing the P365xl to the 43x. I was amazed on how close they are. Thanks for sharing!
That's why I'm carrying the 48 currently but hopefully the issues with the P365XL are just an introduction thing and problems are limited. So I need to try to be as non biased as possible considering the issues while also acknowledging my potential biases.
Harry's Holsters Correct. I carry a 43 and Shield 2.0 but wouldn't hesitate to carry my P365 either. Tim at MAC just shot a couple hundred rounds and his XL seems pretty good so far.
Thanks for your honesty concerning your reviews. I do wonder though why you might think I would think a gun is or is not accurate depending on how YOU shoot it, unless you're saying it's only your opinion about its accuracy?
Nice vids lately. Ive been enjoying them. I dont have either of these particular guns but id probly go with the glock. I know its meaningless but i dont like the two tone. But its hard to beat a glock
There is nothing special about the Sig P365 Magazine bodies. It's roughly the same form factor as Browning High Power, Beretta 92, Sig P226 and other mags that have been around forever. All the P365 did was make the walls of the grip itself slightly thinner so it can fit a larger magazine. For reference a lot of the old legacy magazines are approx .78-8 inches wide. The Sig P365 is .83 and most modern double stacks like the P320, CZ P07/09 and SW M&P are .85. I think the patents Sig has can easily be worked around or they wouldn't hold up in a court of law.
Thanks for the video. I was on the fence on which one to get. And now I think I will go with the G48, especially after you mention the flush fit 15-round mag for the G48.
thanks for comparing these two, im currently looking at both as a better carry than my G19. How was the slide release on the P365XL? It was pretty stiff on the one I tested out compared to the G48.
I wish Glock had extended the guide rod for the 48 instead of just leaving it the same length as the 43x and letting the extra slide length hang off the front. Could've done so much for the balance of the gun.
The balance on the 48 is really good and it might become nose heavy with more weight. It probably would help recoil impulse but there is also something to be said for parts common-ability with the 43 and 43x.
