Looks like the P226 is left with a film/TV legacy of cheesy mid-2000s action stuff with bad effects.

It's just so boring looking and not memorable Comparing to 1911 or glock, that most of the time it either appears as standard issued ie government service and military (that MC not allowed to personal choice) or plain henchmen gun. With more and more MC using kimber 1911 or glock in movie p226 would be sidelined even worse.
