Why can’t every gun video be like yours? Clear, concise, no BS, just what you need to know exactly. I just bought my first Sig Sauer and yep it was the P320 AXG Classic. I took out the striker assembly after my first range session, but definitely didn’t want to disassemble it without watching a how to video. I got lucky and found your video first. Perfect… thank you for making this available for us.
I shot films professionally for 18 years. I wish all informational videos were like this! Well done! I just got my P320 today and have only torn down Glock’s and Colts in the past. This taught me everything I need to know and why I need to know it. Keep up the good work!
My name is Sgt. Peter Dominguez military retired US Marine Corps and Vietnam Veteran. I found very interesting video how to assembly and disassembly the P30 Sig Sauer the fire pin assembly, I did learn a lot by watching this nice and very clear video and was able to assembly the fire pin. I am appreciated this constructed video very much, without this video I wasn't able to have it done myself putting together my project, thank you very much, "Semper Fi" Oorah!
Wow! Well explained step by step instruction. Really appreciate how you explained how the parts go with each other including the orrientation on how each part goes back in.
Could not install striker assembly because safety lever was leaning out. Happened 2x. Thanks to your video, i just had to move the spring and it popped back into place. Excellent video - thanks.
Hell yeah brutha now I can do this. Your videos now have taught be how to break apart my entire 320 from top to bottom. The Skelton trigger was a bitch getting on with the up over out trick because the Skelton trigger has that protrusion on the top of the shoe but after 30 minutes I was able to do that too. It just had to be in the perfect position. This was much easier. Can’t thank you enough man
I have ammo that has been “light striking” I swore it was the ammo, but after cleaning I believe it was the fouling. I will test it when I can, thanks for the video!
7:35 it always amazes me of the “little” things (pieces) that are involved in making a gun fire & work correctly. That little spring is something I’m probably gonna lose, the first few times of cleaning the striker; so I’m gonna make sure to buy some extras to have on hand. That’s a good tip you gave in your deep cleaning Vid; always try to have 1-3 extra spare parts on hand, so if something happens; your not sending gun in to be serviced & waiting (or waiting to have parts delivered), you can grab the spare & be up in running in seconds👍🏻 8:23 THANK YOU for your attention to detail & explaining things really clear & concise & then showing us. Fantastic 👍🏻, as that was a question I had, if mattered which way the “V” striker safety spring went in; & then you answered it when reassembling everything. Do wish you could have zoomed in on the spring in post at 9:34; so we’d have a better view...but a minor thing really. Regardless, thx again for being clear to what you meant when describing a situation, & then showing us, really does make for an awesome video💥 Thanks for the vid, appreciate the info & hard work it takes to make a video like this🙏🏼 All the questions I had before watching this, are now gone; as you answered everyone of them. Like the p320 mat you have there, it’s pretty sick looking Cheers✌🏼
A very touching comment. I really appreciate positive feedback and criticism both good and bad. Comments like there’s help me make the next video even better. I really appreciate this. Thank you very much.
This is a fantastic video! Thank you very much for the details, good camera/focus and lighting. When cleaning the striker assembly, could I just sort of brush it down with something like breakthrough cleaner without removing all the tiny parts too?
Sig Sauer Guy quick question if you wouldn’t mind... I will be getting a can of Rem DriLube to try it out, but I was wondering if you used any particular product during the actual cleaning of the striker assembly. Thanks man.
Fascinating video. I am a bit surprised that this gun met the military's criteria for selection, though ... the drop safety mechanism on the striker seems very complex.
Took me a few to see that you put the safety lever on before you put the firing pin back into the housing to put the two leg spring in the notch to lever
I took my striker out cleaned it with Lucas gun cleaner spray it’s kinda like break clean. It removed all of the oil and carbon with a couple sprays. But when I put the gun back together and did some function checks the gun was failing to go into battery. The striker was catching on the sear like intended to but was stopping the gun from fully going into battery. Tried everything nothing worked except when I put a little CLP on a qtip and wiped the inside of the striker housing not channel, after doing so gun functioned perfectly. Long story short don’t use a cleaner that is like brake clean and turns all the grease into a dry film that makes ur striker unit not work properly and get stuck on the sear.CLP SOLVES EVERYTHING
Thank you very much for your detailed video! I was cleaning it, and detected the tiny spring that I had no idea where it came from... :) ... Thanks!!! Do you lube your guns? I pretty much don’t , at least a glock type strikers.... Not sure it is right...
On mine, the striker doesn't really get dirty. I have never disassembled it(well over 10,000 rounds fired). Occasionally I'll through it in the ultrasonic cleaner along with everything except for the barrel, and rinse(barrel gets cleaned with patches and bore solvent). Then I give everything an ultrasonic bath in Lyman Turbo Sonic Gun Lube to remove water and leave a lubricant film on everything. Then oil only those parts that Sig says to lube(barrel, slide, and recoil spring). I use a silicone gun cloth on the exterior of the slide to make it look nice.
If it works for you then I wouldn’t change a thing. I reload so I have an ultrasonic cleaner as well. For me it doesn’t get everything completely clean.
Hey Sig Guy, thanks for your content, it’s much appreciated. I bought a back up striker assembly and recoil spring assembly recently, the latter I had to get on eBay and paid twice the suggested retail but I wanted to have both just in case. I do a lot of dry firing, that said if I keep my striker clean and free of grease and fouling how long can I expect it to last before I swap it out? I’ve done some reloading as of late with a new progressive Hornady AP that I thought made sense to get into and I’m using small rifle primers to substitute for small pistol as the latter is impossible to get and while I’ve had no issues yet I certainly want to avoid the potential for any and I’m wondering how long the striker assembly lasts. Thanks in advance and thanks again for your content. Your FCU assembly/disassembly videos were clutch when my trigger spring came off and I had no idea how to get it back on so sincerely, THANK YOU!
There’s no suggested replacement interval for the striker itself. The spring yes but not the striker itself. Just inspect and reuse if in good working condition.
Tony A my name has nothing to do with this pistol being adopted by almost the entire military and who knows how many law enforcement organizations. You are not a fan. Duly noted.
Great video. Always been a glock guy, but just purchased the p320 to replace my edc gun. How often would you recommend cleaning the striker and should I go ahead and clean the factory lube out of it?
Jason Lisenby I don’t thing there is such a thing as too clean. The striker is very easy to remove. Only takes a second to clean. Definitely clean before shooting for the first time. After cleaning awhile you will figure out what frequency works best for you.
Btw, never admit to sig that you took the striker out and apart if you ever need warranty work done. Owner's manual says doing this voids your warranty. Even though if you were to press them hard enough you could get them to warranty it anyways because having potentially unsafe guns out there is not a good look for any manufacturer.
Awesome video, I've never bothered to remove the striker assembly well... because it says flat out not to in the book lol. I pride myself on keeping my guns clean but I'm sure this part is caked since it's never been touched. Maybe a dumb question... but since it's just one peice couldn't you just blast it with some parts cleaner, dry it off, clean the channel and reassemble and get a good result? I'm afraid my sausage fingers will loose those micro sized springs.
great video. you anticipated all of my questions with one possible exception. based on how detailed you were, i'm assuming it doesn't matter, but when you were assembling the 2 halves, does it matter where the 2 halves meet (ie, at 12 o'clock/6 o'clock or 3 o'clock/9 o'clock)?
New gun owner here-very good instructions with one exception-you cut out the cleaning process giving no information as to what you should and shouldn’t use for cleaning agents on the striker assembly.
Ronald Bell I wouldn’t. I’ve used one to see how good it performed. Not good at all. Took more time and did half as good. I prefer to turn on the football game and complete disassemble, clean and reassemble. Relaxing to me and does a perfect job.
Thank you but recently i have problems with that little spring when i assemble the spring the Disconnecter plate becomes loose do i have not enough tension anymore on that spring or is it broken , i cannot figure it out
I am stuck. Every time I put the l safety lever back in with the spring, no issue. When I slide the firing pin in it lifts it up. I have tried putting the firing pin in first the the safety level and the same result. The spring and the level work as they should until I try to put the firing pin in. I seems to lift it up and knock it out. Tried 100 ties. I noticed it fell right off when I removed the whole firing pin assembly. Very frustrated!!
Any experience on not going into battery the last 1/4”? A part of the striker seems to be grinding on something the last 1/4” or so. Common problem I’ve read all the forms online talking about it. No solution has worked
@@SigGuy , What caused the P320 pistol in the LEO's holster to go off? I read that 3 LEO had their P320 go off, two had their P320 in their holsters when they shot on their own without touching the pistol, and the other when he dropped it. I know the dropped incident was due to the trigger being to heavy, but what about the two holstered P320?
Hey SSG...love your videos. I have a problem with the extractor guide rod on my new P320 X-Carry. I disassembled the slide this evening to install a red dot. Upon reassembly, the Extractor Guide Rod doesn't go in all the way. I can't force it all the way down into the channel to capture the extractor. Yours went back in so easily, I have about 5-6 coils of the spring sticking out and the remainder of the guide rod. Mine gets stuck at that same spot every time and I can't force it any further. Any ideas? Thanks!
Jeremy Reeves any pics? This is a new one for me. Are you positive it’s capturing the extractor peppery? Can you see the through the opening behind the extractor as you installs it?
That means you’ve put the rod in the wrong way, there are two holes in the end of the rod that need to go up and down NOT side to side when put back in I had this same problem but found this solution in a spectate video.
Sig Sauer Guy turns out, I used the wrong screws to install the red dot. I used both regular screws, instead of one long, one short. The longer screw was blocking the channel. That’s why the extractor guide rod wasn’t fitting. I didn’t remember that the screws with the x-carry are different sizes because of how they attach to the slide at different clearance points. Live and learn. Thanks.
Jeremy Reeves Well this is certainly a learning lesson for both of us. I have never heard of that being an issue either. Just goes to show everyone can learn something every day. Thanks for following up brother. I’m glad that you got it all resolved. Have a great weekend and be safe!
Actually that’s not correct. I was thinking you were talking about the 365. If you’re talking about that little spring in the side I believe it’s the striker safety spring.
@@SigGuy Its the smallist spring in the intire gun... I didnt mean to say channel, its the spring that goes inside of the striker Housing... Im thinking after some research that it is called the "striker reset spring"
@@SigGuy Are the new ones the two piece? My P365 has the two piece and the striker protrudes a lot further than my P365XL with the one piece. The striker barely protrudes with that one. I have not had any light strikes with my XL, but I have a hard time trusting it. I hate to buy a whole striker assembly and was hoping they just sold the cups like they do for the P320
There are others that use that method. I’ve actually tried it several times basically to test it out myself. Doesn’t get nearly as clean as old fashion elbow grease.
all P320 striker is the same ??? I'm thinking of buying a full-size slide I want to know if the striker and the extractor case of a compact internally works on a full-size slide
Why is in necessary to put the striker in dry. It seems counter intuitive to me. It seems it would be good to have the moving parts lubed. Please excuse my ignorance.
KatManDoo lubing the striker needs to be squeaky clean to operate properly. Even assembly lube from the manufacturer has caused malfunctions. The striker doesn’t create friction that lube is necessary to minimize. The only stupid question is the one not asked.
You dont want gunk buildup in the striker channel (which does not have much free space), lube attracts and collects gunk, too much gunk can cause the striker to not move back and forth freely causing reliability problems.
Need Help, I have the P320 with the Apex flat trigger but I never sent it back for the factory upgrade, Now I want to install the Apex trigger bar, Why do I need the factory upgrade first??? Thank you in advance Larry.
Hey, how's it going? Big fan here.. particularly since my recent P320C purchase. [Almost 2 months ago] Been absorbing as much information as I can with handling and maintenance. Around 700 rounds in now and havent looked at the striker yet. At the beginning and end you mention every now and then you take it apart to clean it but how often (or after ____ amount of rounds) would you advise doing this? Sorry for the long comment/question 😅 I enjoy all of your content and thank you for your service.
Moof Fulgencio no worries at all on the question. I’m glad to help when I can. It’s really easy to remove. It really depends on frequency of shooting, ammo type and environment. Once you do it a couple times you will know if you can go longer or if more frequently is needed. It really only takes a few minutes so for me the more the better. Glad you are loving the 320.
@@SigGuy I appreciate the speedy response. About to get into it just to see what's going on. Right now its in the home or at the indoor range about every other weekend.. cwp soon. 🤔 I'd really like to make use of the conversion process at some point. Hopefully adopt your thorough approach along the way. Until then, thank you and I'll be studying.
