It’s a macro with an upgraded grip module, everything else is virtually identical. Nice looking gun, personally I like my macro with the Wilson combat grip module.
@@BinaryPun it’s a definitive upgrade from the stock grip module. They added a notch you can cut out for a safety, which I think screws up the aesthetics but overall I like it. I don’t think I could justify spending $400+ for the AXG or Icarus
With going on 2000 rounds through mine, I can tell you it is exceptional. Accurate, comfortable, and stunningly beautiful the weight is perfect. The balance is perfect and the comp keeps it flat.
@@jimherold7827 Presumably more velocity so better terminal ballistics. For some reason, there is little to no information floating out there as to whether or not there is a substantial difference. Supposedly, some defensive 9mm will not properly expand if the barrel is closer to 3 inches. 4 inches is supposedly the "sweet" spot, but again info seems to be scarce on this, it's just things I have "heard". If true, then yeah I can see why a 3.7 inch barrel is best...
@@jimherold7827 Better is relative. Everything has tradeoffs. If you need to compete with fastest consecutive shots on target then the comp helps you get back on aim fractions of a second faster. Definitely looks cool though, and if you're trying to beat a bad guy with a gun it may be useful to land multiples on center mass faster. But you'll deal with more carbon to clean, more muzzle flash, more heat creep into the slide, more problems when firing from the hip at close range and your face is above the gun (physical fight or in a car), more lint collection, less accuracy down range, less ballistic ejection speed, and higher cost.
@@thespectator5259 For 9mm the increased length gets you about 220 FPS. But my shorty barrel is also ported so it's going to be losing a bit more velocity, and I have an extended barrel with a harrington comp so much more burn time. My friends recorded me shooting both of them there is far less flash coming out of the front of the long and there is fire coming out of the shorty and its comp holes so it's not burning all the powder. But the 365 platform is made to be a carry firearm. So imho what's the point, I like it mainly because I can throw its case and my MDR into the trunk and go shooting without lugging around 4 or 5 different pistols and 3 or 4 rifles. It normally stays in pocket carry from since I daily it... I think thats IMHO the advantage over others.
I really wonder about these fractions of an inch. The original P365 micro was amazing not for being so small, but for carrying 10 rounds. The big issue was people couldn't really get their hand on the grip (it was small) and complained it was too snappy. Some people ran a pinky extension on the magazine to help, but then Sig brought out the XL with a longer slide/barrel and slightly bigger grip (same grip used in the P365X). The longer slide conceals easily, since it sticks down close to the body, but the grip was a little longer. The XMacro came along and made the grip a little wider and a little longer still which is the part that prints (and TacOps and AXG legion added a magwell which prints more). It isn't the longer slide/barrel (or shorter barrel with the compensated versions) that are difficult to conceal IWB, but the larger grips may be. Personally I don't really care if someone staring at my waist notices a slight bulge. Unless all these comments are about the added weight of a longer slide & more bullets making it more uncomfortable to carry?
There are so many different ways to configure the P365 now that no one should be complaining... I feel like the cerakote on the slide and frame is one of the best upgrades along with the aluminum module and the G10 grips. Truth be told, anyone can buy and add a grip module that has a nice cerakote, but that doesn't protect the finish of your slide. I believe that standard XMacro is slightly thinner in the grip than the Legion and there are a few options available to enhance the back straps on the polymer frame including an aluminum palm swell. It's still not quite as thick as the G19 and weighs close to the same as the G19 when you add the 2 extra rounds. How long has everyone been concealing a G19?
p938 is smaller than the P365 if you don’t mind the safety. If you actually look at the internals there is no room to put in much more. Your best options for DA/SA are the Bersa TPR9C or the HK P2000/P30 SK
@@Sig_P229 From what I've seen, there are mixed reviews on the P938 and it is also lower capacity. The other guns you mention don't seem to be quite in the same size range. I do own a Grand Power P11 and that's a small DA/SA gun. The HK options look super chunky.
@@justinkase1360 yeah not quite sure about the HKs. I have only held them. I love my TPR9C though. Better trigger than my Sigs tbh. The P11 does look nice. Probably lighter than the 2 suggested. Plus doesn’t the twist barrel have very reduced recoil I do love the P938. Bought one and love it. I think the p238 is actually better and shoots like a 22lr.
Compared to the X-Macro, it appears to have the same slide with a grey-ish cerakote paint job and a CNC'd version of the X-Macro grip module, modified to use replacement grip panels and wearing a matching cerakote paint job. It's unclear if anything has been done to the FCU or not. Hopefully, Sig will release the AXG grip module because having several X-Macro Comp/X-Macro TacOps already, I'm not inclined to buy yet another 'X-Macro' pattern pistol even though admittedly it looks very good. I'll just wait to see when something else drops. BTW, Wilson Combat just released their version of the X-Macro grip module in both black and tan, and with their tungsten weight kit, it feels very good.
I dunno, I can't imagine people are dropping $$ on the WC grips because of the stipple pattern, most likely it's for the extra hand grip purchase on these tiny pistols. But the XMacro actually doesn't have a grip problem, it's big enough that the regular and X/XL grip frame problems are gone. You can get all 4 fingers around the gun, eject mags without breaking your grip, and change out backstops to fill your hand better.
@fredvStein In general, I agree with that. I bought WC grip modules when I was carrying 365 lx's to increase grip size and texture - especially when paired with Tactical Development's WC matching magazine basepads. Admittedly, it's not as big of a deal with X-Macro lowers. Out of curiosity, I bought a WC X-macro module when they dropped. It's a purely preference issue. The front and back straps are much more aggressively textured than the Sig OEM version, enhancing purchase during the draw. The texturing on the sides extends uo higher than Sig's and the magwell has a more pronounced flar. The contour at the top/thumb area is also different. In addition, the WC grip moules have channels behind the magazine area into which Wilson's tungsten weight rods can be insertered to subtly alter the balance of the weapon - which I like. Last, there's an appearance difference that I like compared to Sig's black - or, in my case, Coyote Tan grip modules. Wilson also offers their's in black, grey, green, or a more FDE - like tan. It's a minor issue to change out the grip module without spending a lot, and one of the reasons the 365 platform is as popular as it is.
@@XrayMike17plus1for $75, it's more affordable than buying the standard XMacro grip and has some better features. If I'm going to spend $105 on a basic grip, I might at well spend $25 more for the Icarus Precision Air module.
I’ve carried an XL for almost 4 years, and bought a X Macro (non-comp) a couple of months ago. What loses me on the comped versions of the X Macro and this Legion is the 3.1” barrel. I much prefer the longer 3.7” barrel without a comp, whether it’s in Legion cerakote or not.
The beauty of the macro is…take your xl barrel, slide and put it on your macro receiver. We’re very limited in California so we have to wait and see what we can get.
I’ve had both the P365 and the P365XL for two years now each sporting the Wilson Combat XL grip modules and wouldn’t change another thing. Use the extra money on ammo at the practice range! 🤷🏻♂️
I EDC a sig X macro with a holosun red dot and quit carrying my G19 over a year ago and haven't looked back. Not that the G19 Is bad it's a great pistol. But a X macro with 17+1, smaller, lighter, very accurate and reliable comes with Ns and great trigger. Is Very tough to beat
For carry, the X-Macro Comp makes more sense. It's literally the same gun, albeit about 4 ounces lighter for 400 dollars less. Although the Legion is a head turner, I wonder if that cerakote paint job won't holster-scuff more easily than the Nitron finished X-Macro.
@BrandonGavin_EDC after over a year carrying it, it just is. I tried a few others in between, what a waste of time. Jm4 tactical holsters only, premium leather that doesn't mess with your finish.
Good video it would have been nice if you compared the metal grip size, in the hand with the P365 Macro grip in terms of thickness and reach, since theses are hard to find in stores. I ordered a AXG P320 and for my hand it was to big compared to the Sig regular grip modules and the Wilson grip module.
That's a good question. I saw the regular x macro comp compared to the legion on video the other day and there is a difference in the frame. It may or may not affect playing musical slide.
i wish they made it with a flush 15 rd xl grip design. that super long grip and flat bottom just looks weird. the angled bottom of the XL's looks way better.
It's incredible knowing you can easily spend $1200 on the Legion, yet if you look in the right places you can have an aluminum frame with amazing grips and way better ergonomics than the original for $200 to $300. There's options for $360 to $450. There's an option to get a complete awesome gun excluding the FCU for $1,000 to $1,200 with way better features and way out performs your standard X Macro and the Legion. I personally started with the SAS model and have created a whole new pistol. Sharp's Bro's put out an original design that was initially good giving you a much better support hand purchase. They have recently stepped up the game with more ergonomical G10 grips with a few different color options. I'll be making a video soon!
I believe it’s more about the balance of the frame and overall feel that as well reduces more recoil. The Icarus is very nice but then your going away from OEM but that’s $400
Grip is too long on the xmacro models. Improve the trigger, give it a nice undercut and shorten the grip and it may be worth it. Until then, I will soldier on with my HK VP9.
With regards to EDC, compare the Legion's size and weight to the SAS. Then take a glance at the two price tags. It's like when Ford branded the "Mach-E" a mustang....yeah right.
It will only be perfected when they build the P365 Legion version with No comp, a longer barrel and a more durable finish. Sig is not there yet, too busy trying to get their M-7 through the Military testing. 14lb, $17,700.00 rifle vs $700.00 M-4, I wonder when it's going to flop?
TacOps is just a Macro on steroids - add a magwell, extended slide lock button, and 2 extra mags... the Legion already has a magwell, extended slide lock button, and 1 extra mag.
So how is the FCU compared to a custom works FCU? I'm inclined to wait either for an AXG grip module or a TacOps Legion version as I already have an X-Macro Comp and multiple TacOps versions of the X-Macro.
Great video, very informative. I was looking at the Tacops but it doesn't have the compensated slide which is what I was looking for and I do prefer the mag well which is what I liked about the Tacops over the XMacro Comp. This seems to have all the options in one. Trying to figure out what color that is? Is it a bronz or a gray?
It's the standard Legion grey. Unless you're someone who prefers to buy something and not change anything, there are a lot of aftermarket options to make it whatever you want it to be. The gun can easily be transformed into a competition style race gun if you know what to look for. I feel like I could build an awesome pistol with roughly $880 that would outperform the legion. At $1,100 it would way outperform and outlast the Legion. It definitely looks completely different as well.
How many rounds do you have through yours? 1911 syndicate had said in their review that the tolerances had really loosened up. To the point it would shake and rattle. Is yours still tight and right?
Been with the same FCU since launch with some work over... Had my tricked out 226 legion at the range and a guy next to me had one of these and let me try it out. Realized it's not better than my 365 at this point by a bit... MM grip, ZP slide and barrel, ect...Have all the conversion stuff to make it into a 365, XL, and Macro... Kinda was expecting the FCU to be a bit better considering its supposed to be a legion, but it feels like a stock 365XL FCU. Also, downside it doesn't have any option for the thumb safety. You can get better results building a base FCU. I have to disagree with you, its honestly 500 USD overpriced... But if your new to the platform, don't want the hassle of building it, more money than sense... its the gun for you...
Nice, but I'll take my 365XL over this because of a few reasons. Weight is number 1. No sagging when tucked in. I want it comfortable, like where I can even forget about it being there. XL is less weight and is most important to me since carrying daily. I think it's overpriced. Okay I can buy an extended release, removable magwell, etc. if I want, and not pay Sig's premium for it already being there. For a little less, if edc, I could even add the new Sig red dot and an XL, and still have money in my pocket. Legion has larger grips. All these small increases can become uncomfortable. If not edc, I do like the looks of the new Legion.
Just got the 365 X macro, I can’t believe how HORRIBLE the coating on the mags are, which leads to rust. The gun doesn’t have the best coating either. You’d think for the cost of sig they’d but a better coating on it.
@@SecondClassCitizen that’s good that you haven’t had any issues. The biggest area are the mags near the top and around the feed lips. And no, I live in PA so there isn’t any corrosive saltwater around.
Had my xl for over a year. Mag finish definitely comes off from wear, but zero rusting at all. Have two 17 mags for the range and those haven't been worn much. Also no wear on the coating for the slide.
With a proper 2-handed grip, unless you have REALLY small hands, your left thumb shouldn't be anywhere near the mag release. Unless your left hand was really really low on the pistol.
Easier to invest more in carry gun bc it's the most likely to defend your life . What good does a staccato do in the safe if when you absolutely need to defend yourself you're carrying a g2c. Not that the g2c is not a decent budget option but if I have to defend my life I want the best tool available
I'm surprised you found one right now. I was hot for one of these but couldn't find one. Rumor was they had to delay the full rollout due to frame problems. I checked this with my LGS a couple of days ago and they confirmed that a Sig rep told them there was a delay, though of course Sig being Sig didn't tell them why.
The P365 series triggers are the worst ones I own. My 2 Shield Plus's triggers are vastly superior, as is my 2nd Gen CZ P10C, Ruger SR9C, Ruger Security 9 compact, & Springfield XDM pistols. Even after polishing the sear & striker, & adding a Tactical Trigger mod. Also the grip length is too long for conceal carry. There's a few videos out there showing how to deal with this problem.
I would even go as far as saying all current SIG striker triggers are horrible. Admittedly I am a trigger snob, but in the modern time there is no reason to compromise on a clean, crisp break. SIG triggers are completely mush on their break. The original p365 trigger was WAY better on the break. I know it had striker drag as so they "fixed" it. Ever since then, their triggers are horrible! I laughed out loud the first time I felt one.
I’ll stick to my g48 as my EDC. I feel that it’s a bit silly to get something like a legion build for an EDC. EDIT: I say that as I have completely tricked out my g48 with an aftermarket trigger kit, recoil spring and red dot optic lol so I guess maybe all the bells and whistles on an EDC can be helpful.
The X MACRO Legion is my everyday carry. I have been carrying it for just about five months. I have shot 1000 rounds through it. Varies weight, tykes, and brands, in 1000 rounds and five magazines, I have had nit one malfunction of any form. I normally would not carry an expensive gun like this, but I was drawn to this and enjoy wearing it daily.
Anyone who has the AXG Legion can I ask you how is the feel of the grip module. I feel the X Macro feels thin and not that wide in comparison to say a S&W Shield. I am hoping the design of this module it will fit the hand better. As I prefer the AXG over the Icirus which looks larger than the standard grip. Anyone who can shed a little light on this would sure be appreciated.
I just find it funny that people will pay for an upgraded metal frame on their pistol because they don't like plastic, but then the metal frame AXG takes plastic panel grip inserts.
I like my regular original size 365. I just hate the slide being cut for an optic Ill never put on. One more rust interface to worry about and its not as smooth and sleek. Why is everyone trying to turn the 365 into a tacticool duty pistol? Go buy a desert eagle with a chainsaw bayonet and flamethrower....
I take my 365 Spectre comp over it. Gives me the option for 12 or 17 round mags. Not a big fan of aluminum lowers either. I’d consider this more of a full size pistol. I rather have one that performs the same, lighter and that I can conceal easier.
The P365s are so tiny. When I pick them up at the store, I imagine their target market is little people who live in tiny homes and drive Smart cars. This one looked better until you held up that G19, which is about the smallest pistol I've been able to grip with both hands, manipulate, or shoot effectively. I'd like to find something easier to carry without giving up shoot ability, but I don't think it exists. $1200 is outrageous, too. It would suck handing that over to sit in an evidence locker after a self-defense incident. You might not ever get it back.
Yep, it still seems girl sized though. I have an old P229 that like a G19 is about as small as I can use and remain combat effective. I think I'm just too big for the newer fad of micro-sized 9mm guns. They seem great until I actually try to shoot them. @@PD-we8vf
Yep, I can do a G19, but the full-size grip is definitely better. I actually prefer the large-frame Glocks like the 20 and 21 if concealed carry isn't a concern.@@Doggonewood
In my opinion they actually screwed up the grip by doing the same stupid thing that Glock has done for ages -- making the base plate of the magazine protrude, and more noticeable under your shirt. That's too bad because I was looking forward to this model, but ever since they continued pushing the X-Macro grip features, I have no interest in the latest in the P365 line up. 😏 I think the XL was their sweet spot, but they had to keep pushing it. LOL
Finally been perfected...why did we have to wait for this one for the platform to be "perfected"? The the older Sigs had a near mythical quality and reliability reputation. Their foray into Polymer pistols and chassis concept has not yielded the same results and reputation. Sig has had struggles with QC as the popularity in the civilian market has exploded and they got all the military contracts. They need to tighten the QC up and address the safety issues or perceived issues on the P320 and P365 lines, even if its mostly user induced they need to add a trigger dingus, or grip safety to reduce the ND chances. Side note, I have zero issues with my HS/SA XD line pistols.
There mags are not even made of stainless and for 60 dollars a pop witch is sticatto price it’s really a shame carried mine in a QVO sidecar holster and rust started popping through on the mag
