This is one of the fishing highlights of our trip! Exploring an area of coastline with my little bloke and uncovering some amazing fishing action and creating some memories that I hope will last his lifetime ...

2500 Shimano Sienna combo 3-5kg 7’2
3000 Shimano Vanford with 5-7kg Starlo Classix rod.
20lb Powerpro Slick 8 braid

DOA flicking minnow

Hey mate! Great to see the father son time. That where memories are made, and life long bonds are created. Don't teach him all the traits, because when Tommy is 18 and catching more fish than you. Thay just can't help then rub it in. 🤣 and a typical fishermen, just one more little cast. That's classic 👌.

Top effort Johnny, putting together a video showcasing that spectacular estuary / aquarium whilst teaching your young son the essentials of finesse fishing, steering the electric, keeping it safe... mate you had me grinning juggling all those balls in the air. Gold. Did the same with my boys and girls without the burden of you tube production, sometimes really frustrating and hard but ultimately its the stuff that makes kids resilient, strong and well balanced. Go Tommy!

So good to see your son whipping your butt on the boat ;) ha ha I taught my son and daughter to fish around that age, they learnt so fast but a few years later we were fishing of a little river landing and every cast my son let go of the rod poor guy he got so upset he didn't want to fish anymore :( now they both come fishing in the kayaks with me when they can

Mate it’s next level. Completely epic! It’s taken a while and I’m still working on my adjustment from hard out chasing fish to enjoying fishing with kids on the boat as there’s lots to manage but seeing their enjoyment kills anything I can get done by myself ;)

Such a cute little kid! I’ve got 2 little boys, one is a year and a half and the other was born just 5 days ago! I can’t wait to take them out fishing one day. How old was your kid when you started taking him out on the boat?

Mate it’s such a great time ;) they used to come with me in the front pouch when I’d take em for a walk while Mum caught up on some sleep. Hahaa. But little Bon and Tommy really got the hang of casting around late 3s and now at 4 Tommy has got it dialled. We have a Jetty just down the road so I’d put em in little life jackets and we’d fish off there with Bread for bream all the time. Easy catches are the biggest win ;)
