Vortex73 they’re just going to be sharing Super GT motors aren’t they? If so, in my opinion those cars already sound crazy good for being turbo. I wouldn’t mind if F1 downsizes again and sounded like those.

I honestly don't know what Super GT is running right now. Is it a V4 Turbo?

I must admit it's a no for me... Yes, they have marked a big era of this championship but I'm very curious for these "new" 4 cylinders, because if they are just like the ones used in the current Japanese Super GT well, they sounds pretty good

@@19Bozzy92 Not only that, I personally can't wait for Nissan, Lexus and Honda to join DTM (or perhaps a global touring car championship) and have them all compete for the same podium. With the level of drivers in both classes it might even become better than formula one

19Bozzy92 Well, since I haven't heard the Super GT cars live I can only rely on vids. Yes, they sound nice. However, the V8 used in DTM is (for me) one of the few things left that I regard as a relict of the "good old times" since these engines were used from 2000 on and F1 has replaced the V10s and later V8s.

Engine regulations make them all sound alike, like F1, different manufacturers but same shite sound.

Audi and BMW have a Judd engine, and Mercedes has their own.

In real life every engine sounds different. Especially at downshifts.

Audi and BMW Sound alike but When you visit a DTM race, you will notice that Mercedes sounds different

Neither do I. Hearing one or two of these testing around well, it's really nice and you can appreciate that sound. But 18 of them all togheter after 10 minutes they become quite annoying. Plus their really loud, just like the old F1 V8s from 2011-2013 or the current LMP2 cars: they sounds nice but too many of them make too much noise, and just noise

Which is why I really enjoy the I4s of Super GT. They sound distinctive and arent too noisy after a while.

Because of the “Class One” regulations, next year DTM will race with I4 Turbos, replacing the V8’s. DTM will change to I4 T so they could possibly merge with the SuperGT championship in Japan, and they will have 2 joint races next year. You might know this, but I thought I would say this anyway.

Loved those "starts procedures" so much, indeed. Plus when they enter the pits, or whenever they had to turn of the car, it was pretty special to hear those loud backfires BMWs and Mercedes' did (revving the engine and cutting the ignition). Thank you so much!

Me too. Mine it's not a complete dislike because I heard a few of them doing taxi laps all alone on track and that's really beautiful. Problem is when there are too many of them on track.. Judging by videos, current Super GT turbo 4 cylinders are pretty special to me, with those loud "anti lag" backfires. We'll see

Thanks Marko! Well, about the Italians attending this event I was 100% sure the number would have been very low. Unfortunately here in Italy our sports newspapers only talks about football, football, football, F1, football, MotoGP and again football, plus tickets were a bit expensive to convince people to come and see the event. But as I said in a previous comment, yes there wasn't much crowd during the 3 days, but during Saturday's race 1 the only two grandstands were full of people, as you can see from the first clip. It was really badly organized for public to be honest. I copy here what I've written somewhere in this comment section: "All public was forced to stay in just 2 of the 15 grandstands Misano has, and only one of the two big lawn area was accessible, because from what they said us: "You don't know how expensive is to keep two more stands open. Plus no one goes there...". Ok but when we purchased the tickets there where both the two lawns and a few more areas marked as "accessible/opened". Try to watch the live stream of race 1... how nice is seeing all the grandstands empty? I watched that race in one of the two (start of this video) and you can't imagine how many people have been forced to stand or change area because there was no more sits available. But it looked like there was no audience during the race..."

Grazie! Ecco dopo questa cosa che mi hai detto penso cercherò di evitare di farmi 4 ore di strada in futuro, salvo in casi eccezionali. Perchè l'idea di vedere il Blancpain in notturna a Misano l'ho sempre avuta e quasi speravo fosse organizzato meglio durante quell'evento. Ma se anche tu hai trovato simili problematiche a quelle che ho riscontrato io al DTM, non ne vale la pena... Si esatto sarebbe una gran bella pista per filmare/fotografare se la maggior parte delle aree fossero aperte

Dipende, è conveniente se ti vuoi fare una vacanza li non è neanche male Il problema è che che la gara notturna ha floppato clamorosamente. Volevano partire al tramonto e finire in notturna ma hanno sbagliato i tempi e quando è finita c'era ancora il sole

Nice question.. well noticed it's one of the few Italian tracks with a correct illumination for night races while Monza, Imola or Mugello don't have, for example

19Bozzy92 Makes sense that an Italian series would hold their night races here but what about the overall European series? Is there a reason they chose Misano over, let's say Paul Ricard?
