Sigma 16mm f/1.4 -fast wide for m4/3 

Thank you for the great video. Your photos always look so nice, regardless of the gear, so it is sometimes hard to tell if it is just the user or if the gear even matters. I am really impressed by how well the lens brings out the blues and greens, always a challenge. About half way through the video you were sitting by the water with the waves breaking. That exact condition as well as larger waves is what I use to judge the colors and picking out a camera and lens. Can't really explain it better than that. The rectilinear nature of the images are great. Do wish that it had an aperture ring. Anyway hope that you are doing well.

Great video, this is going crazy cheap in europe in the used market, about 200 dollars atm together with the 56mm version which is smaller. Becomes a complete package under 700 usd. 4:10 the look "he just left his camera standing there" hahaha

Great video as Always! In this case given the size the price and the weight I would easily chose the PL 15 mm f1.7. It is barely more expensive, it is MUCH smaller and has excellent characteristics. Just half a stop slower and no weathersealing.

I think your old lense reviews are going to get a boost with the release of the new MFT cameras!

Nice video, and nice use of Doug Maxwell: you should note the music you use in your videos! Your English is excellent. In discussing size and image quality and autofocus I think you missed a good opportunity to directly compare the Sigma to your Pana/Leica 15/1.7. Elements/groups are different, the Sigma has weather sealing while your 15mm does not (so shooters in poor weather might prefer the Sigma with a weather-sealed camera like the G9, for example.) Also, in the USA at least the 15/1.7 costs 50% more than the Sigma, so that should be part of the purchase decision as well. (And of course the other lens a buyer might consider would be the Olympus 17/1.8.)

Hi Matti, It is very good info about Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. You also reviewed Panasonic Leica 15mm 1.7 lens. Can you make a video, where you would compare those two lenses against each other and share your observations about strengths and weaknesses of them?

That location reminds a lot of an island just outside here, called Christiansø 😊 same environment 😊 I can recommend to stay overnight there, if ever you visit bornholm 😊

Thanks for the review. I guess the obvious comparison is going to be this Sigma vs the Leica 15mm f1.7 Summilux. Any thoughts? The Leica has a huge portability advantage but the Sigma is weatherproofed and faster. How do they compare image quality wise?

i just ordered the sigma 16mm but i wasn't able to connect it with my panasonic G9 because the lens mount is too big. my question is how to use the len with the camera. if the mount is already too big for the camera did you use some adaptor? how did you make it work?. i also saw on sigma website that panasonic g9 is not compatible

Isn't this lens actually 1 stop slower, due to the APC-S image circle it is designed for? Like if you would use a FF-Lens on a APS-C-body? I just wonder because if it's "only" 2.0 fast, why should i pay for 1.4 transmission?

just a constructive criticism, channels with this format, changing location every sentence tend not to do very good, the pace is really slow and it takes you too long to get to the point. then again, this is your channel and you do what you wish Now about the lens, I'm almost purchasing it and this video read my mind haha I guess I'll do it
