I really really missed it! I switched from Canon to Fuji and shot Fuji for the last few years. Just recently switched to Sony with mostly Sigma lenses and it is a dream.
The build quality and aperture ring seems awesome but I don't see the point unless the price drops eventually. In Germany the Sony 35mmf1.8 is cheapter than the Sigma 35mmf2
Other people like Dustin Abbott and Fred Miranda have tested the Sigma f/2 and the corner sharpness and mid-field sharpness is superior to the Sony 35. The Sigma is also built better and has nicer bokeh smoothness. The Sigma f/2 is delivering better image quality than the Zeiss Batis 40 which is double the price.
@@DriveCancelDC that honestly sounds amazing. when the price drops slightly I'm probably going to get it. Does the autofocus work on par with native sony lenses?
Thanks for the video. I currently own both and like the aperture ring on the Sigma but in the end optical performance is key. I will continue to use both but will go out again with the Sony now that my latest compact body added the front dial previously missing which mitigates the missing aperture ring. Take care.
Great review, very curious about this lens. Tangential question: can any video shooter tell me 3 shoots you’ve done with a mirrorless lens in which you actively changed the aperture mid-roll? I don’t think people shooting on mirrorless lenses change aperture mid-roll, I have never been in a situation where I need to on a mirrorless camera.
I have the excellent Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical which have outstanding good optical performance, it is built like a tank, compact and not too heavy, I can very highly recommend this Lens !!! Try it !
The Sony 35mm 1.4 GM ar big and heavy, I got the excellent Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 35mm 2.0 Aspherical which have outstanding good optical performance, it is built like a tank, compact and not too heavy, the Voigtländer are just as good as the Sony, just cheaper. I can very highly recommend the Voigtländer Lens !!! Try it !
Leica L Mount includes Panasonic FF also. All of the new Sigma Contemporary I Series lenses are pretty nice. By the way have you tried the Panasonic S5?
I have had many lenses for my Sony (probably over 30), including the Sony FE 35 f1.8 and the Sigma 35 Art 1.4. I am really liking this new Sigma 35 f2 (and the whole range).
what reviewers miss on the two sigma caps is that the plastic was meant for when the hood is on, and the magnetic when you don't want to carry the hood ;0)
Is Mr Hyun deliberately hedging his bets? "...go with the cheaper lens- obviously you're getting a lot more for your money." The conclusion is surprising given what he said about what you get for the extra $100. Where's the 'lot more"?
@@kfsdamian3929 better optical, I have the DG DN it's not Sharp wide open it has a lot of flaring and purple fringing, it misses focus quite often. I would definitely take the sigma 2.0 because I like the aperture ring, it's quite useful and handy.
He said: "I focused at the closest point" but the Sony lens focuses closer so obviously bokeh balls are bigger. If you focus at more distance as you'll see in the other tests, Sigma bokeh is the real winner.
@@cinegenies4651 Yes and this is one area where this otherwise good review kinda annoyed me because bokeh was compared at different focus distances on each lens, and at a distance where most people normally wouldn't be focusing most of the time anyway. Bokeh behind a subject 1-2m away would be far more useful in my opinion.
@@HyunRalphJeong just want a even smaller size lens. But I think it is reasonable to keep the batis, seems batis has a better optical quality, and also solid weather sealing. Thank you for the reply.👍
@@joeyzhao465 I haven't tried Sigma, but compare to 35mm f1.8,I didn't feel any differences. I also tried 35GM, I think GM is ridiculously sharp, even from f1.4. and autofocus is reliable as well. But just it is too expensive.
I need a lens for my A7 M7, currently using my sony 50mm f1.8 , but i need closer distance, iam a Hookahblogger so shooting a Hookah while i smoke is the theme. Was is the sharper Lens? Should i watch a sony 20mm G? I dont know what to choose
