The Sigma 45mm f2.8 lens is a wonderful lens for your Leica or Panasonic camera systems. Using the Sigma 45mm f2.8 lens on my Leica SL2 proved this and if you are in the market for a mid range focal length prime lens, the 45mm Sigma f2.8 lens is a great choice.
Thank you Hassan for letting me use your lens for a while to be able to review it appropriately!
If you want to buy me a cup of coffee, here is the link for that too.

Love this lens for the Panasonic's & Leica Sl2_S. Bought the I Series from Sigma. 35mm, 45mm, 65mm and 90mm. Great focal range and they are small plus they do not weigh a ton. Cheers!

David, Thank you I've been looking to buy this lens and your review was very helpful, more down to earth than what i've seen on RU-vid. Thanks again.

Thank you Phil, this mini-series of reviews that Hassan has basically supported by loaning me the lenses has shown me that they are incredible.

Will have to disagree with you a little on this one David. It's nice and light, but 2 things bother me. 1) noticeable CA 2) the major issue is close-up IQ is really hazy. Bought mine used for $250ish which I think is a fair price for it. Now the 65mm, that thing is a piece of art. Absolutely love mine.

I bought three adapters for my cameras. An adapter for Nikon F to L. Another for Leica M to Nikon Z. Third is the cheap Leica M to L. I use film era lenses that are manual that have no electronics with these cameras. Imagine the Voigtlander 75mm f/1.8 M lens on the Nikon Z. Or the Zeiss 50mm f/2 on the Leica SL2-S or on your SL2. I love autofocusing but sometimes I like to slow down and enjoy the moment. Cheers!

I spent a lot of time in places like that growing up, but haven’t seen fire ants and air plants in years. Nice lens review, David.

Heya David. Nice review. The Sigma 45 2.8 is one of my favorites. The size and weight just speak to me. I don’t need 1.2 or 1.4 aperture lenses so this lens is a great walk around for my needs. I think Sigma is putting out some of the best value lenses today. I think they are fast becoming one of my favorite brands. Here in SE Alabama we have gators in some lakes and rivers. As a matter of fact we had a huge one that lived for decades on one of our small lakes, but due to some army training and risk to the soldiers the Army got rid of him. While not as numerous as Florida we have to know which rivers and lakes we can swim in before we enjoy the water here too.

I use the 24mm, 35mm and 65mm DN DG lenses on my SL Type 601 and could not be more please. Auto or manual focus are easy and accurate. Small, light weight and affordable.

I’ve been seriously thinking about getting the 35mm and 65mm as a two lens set. Debating if I’d need the 24mm to round it out. And do you not find the 35mm and 65mm too close? Was thinking maybe the 35 and 90.

@@philipae27 For me each has a specific use. I like to shoot closer details of things so the 65mm gives me more of a tight frame than a 50mm. I had the 90mm but rarely used it as it was too tight. The 35mm is my usual for the car and antique tractor shows I shoot but on larger equipment I like the 24mm as it gives me a wider view. if I use a longer lens I need to stand further back then have people walking in my shot. With the 35 and 24 I can be close and the slight distortion makes the car/tractors look a bit more impressive. I originally considered the 50mm but reviews seemed to indicate it is not as sharp as the 35mm or 65mm. Now for subjects I shoot on my rangefinder I am a 35mm and 50mm user and quite often a 90. I use different systems for different types of subjects.

Nice review. The word is the Leica SL2 and SL3 are not selling well which is a shame. I've been toying with a SL but might wait a bit to see the new Leica announcements coming next few months.

I am not surprised. The camera market is a fickle girl as they say. I have heard the SL3 tilt screen has been a problem with a lot of people for some reason but I have not seen one yet in person to know what they mean.

I think Leica, Panasonic and Sigma need a small FF L mount cameras in the style of a Q, GX9 or M. Yes, they may cannibalize the Q or even the M. But they would sell very well imo. And they would sell more lenses also.

I like all the Sigma compact primes. They are just good. The 90, and 65 would be good stable mates to the 45.

I got to test drive that 65mm and I can confirm that statement as true. 👍📸

Is there a notable difference in image quality or performance between Summicron and Sigma lenses? What a difference in price!
@davidsaylors
@davidsaylors 5 месяцев назад
Not to the naked eye. Maybe if you used a microscope to check large prints, there is probably a difference but to the average photog, they will never know….
