Just the review I needed! I have already watched a couple reviews but the people had never taken a wildlife photos before so they were pretty hard to relate to.

Thank you! Yea it would be interesting. This Sigma 60-600 seemed to function very similar in AF to their newer Sigma 150-600 Sport, and I did a review on the S5II with that lens so I would say you could expect similar results
Love a zoom when I'm shooting wildlife (for the versatility, not ultimately for the 'landscape' option) and love my Nikon 180-400 (with built in tc taking it to a 560 at the long end). It's a beast of a lens (weight) however and with birds I prefer handholding and with my stick like arms I've gravitated to using the super light Nikon 500 pf lens. That long ramble to share my own idiocy. Came upon a Great Horned Owl a couple of weekends ago and since it was going nowhere, it became clear, I switched off the 500 and dug the 180-400 out of the pack and set up the tripod and shot with it. Had gotten so used to the prime lens that it wasn't until I was processing the shot I wanted that I realized I'd not touched the zoom ring which had been at 180 apparently and shot the bird at only 360mm (with the 1.4 tc engaged!). Sigh. LOL. Love your content. Happy photography. Cheers!
Nice video, It's the world’s first and only 10x zoom lens for Full Frame mirrorless cameras, M4/3 mount already have it, I have the Lumix 14-140mm lens (28-280FFeq).
Thank you! That lens you mentioned actually isn’t considered a super telephoto lens, to be considered super telephoto it has to be at least a 300mm FF equiv.
Hi Jeremy thanks for the information. I have the Sigma 100-400mm sony e mount. I had to send this lens off to Sigma to have the firmware updated as no consumer can do it. Do you know if this has this same issue? Also there is another 10x zoom lens the Sony 24-240mm...I know it's a garbage lens but it's does do 10x 🙂. Thank you once again 👍🏿

Also... I use older EF version of that lens on my Canon R5. With meike EFTR adapter it is 2830g. I would actually apreciate smaller weight of this new one. Those xxx-600mm fx.x-6.3 lenses that share 95mm filter threat indeed are lighter (around 2kg) but Sigma Sports have substantially bigger front element. And it pays off. They are for instance significantly sharper corner to corner than Sigma C line and Tamron 150-600 lenses. I doubt if Nikon 180-600mm or Sony 200-600mm are better optically despite being less versatile. But I have to admit. 2800g or even 2500g when zoomed out is substantial burden handheld. I can really feel it. To alleviate it at least a bit I use arca swiss clamp with lightweight camera handle screwed that enables me to hold the lens without twisting my forearm outwards. Very comfortable design that cost and weigh almost nothing.
I know that this is long after your release of the video, however, I thought it would be good to bring up using the Sigma USB Dock which can help in programming the C1 and C2 buttons to speed up or slow down the Auto Focus and adjust the Stabilization. It also does the Firmware Updates for the lens that someone commented on the lens had to be sent back to Sigma. Thanks for the review, it really confirms that I did the right thing in purchasing this lens! WAIT, I might be incorrect as I am not sure it is available for Mirrorless. I have it for my Canon DSLR.
Great review! Going back and forth on whether to pair this new Sigma, or the Sony 200-600mm, with the Sony A7IV (for wildlife videography - not really any photos). You are totally right about the benefit of having one lens that can accomplish wildlife, landscape and macro. In terms of Sony, the only drawback is not being able to add a teleconverter. If you had the A7IV, and focused on videography, would you go with this Sigma or the Sony 200-600mm? Do you think the lack of the tight focal zoom mechanism makes the 200-600 a better choice for videography? Keep up the great work!
With the weight difference from 60 to 600, how did it perform on the gimbal head? Did you have to readjust it back and forth depending on the focal range you were at?
It performs well, but yea you will have to adjust it back and forth if you want it perfectly balanced without holding your hand to assist it. However, if you keep your hand on it a very little amount of pressure will keep it in place
Hey Jeremy, you've upped your game. Good sound. No mask. In focus shots. Too bad Sigma didn't let u keep the lens. After all, u gave them a good promo. U shouldn't have any problems with the autofocus though, after all the Lumix camera which you have has great stabilization, much better than Sony. Did u get the latest firmware for your camera? Maybe they tweaked the autofocus recently? We know they are still in competition with Sony, but at least your camera won't shut down in the middle of the shoot because of overheating issues. If I were u, I'd get in touch with Panasonic-Lumix and ask them to look at your review & then get back with u. Would be interesting to hear what they say. 😎😎
Not yet! I didn't get pre-release access to that unfortunately, but, I will get mine when they are available for purchase finally and I'll see how it works out for wildlife photography :)
