Second run on the DK2.
Sigma just released a software update and it has really enhanced my experience with their system added even more detail to the motion. The system now gives me a sway and traction loss feeling that is simply awesome. I decided this time to take a run at Brands Hatch to see how the system would handle the elevation changes as well as the bumpy surfaces. In many sections of the track the dips are positioned on one side or the other of the car so what I should feel is the road texture on the corresponding side of the car and the DK2 reproduced this with ease. The track was grease and traction was all over the place and with each loss of the rear I could feel that motion being represented through the system and it felt great.
The new software also completely solved the random surge I would get and really opened up the range of motion feedback the system is able to produce, granted this is all my opinion and experience.
Now I thought that it would take some time for me to get used to having motion an using VR at the same time, but I was wrong. I started this race in 18th place, on a track that had very little grip, no time to create a setup so the front understeered and the rear steps out like a river dancer. Even with this feeling being reproduced on my whole body I was still able to maintain control of the car and move into 8 place from 18th in a 20 minute session. To me this is another example of how quick and responsive it can be allowing me to quickly be acquainted and get up to speed.
