Finally, a let's player that doesn't just go guns blazing through every enemy and be surprised when they run out of ammo when they need it. I'm surprised a lot of people play survival horror games and then ignore the "survival" part of it completely.

My time to shine! I will try and translate most of the German throughout the game - and add comments that I think might be interesting, to ideally enhance the experience a bit for non-German, overly curious viewers! (Also Manly your pronounciations are on point!) [[Do note that due to that, this comment will have light spoilers for this video, so only read if after you've watched, or carefully in tandem.]] A lot of it - like the boot screen right at the beginning - is mostly technical terms, warnings, and fluff (aka not that important) and flashes by very fast. Most documents and posters are then translated by the overlay text. And lastly, I'll be glancing over things that I deem not all that interesting or are self-explanatory by the objects in the scene, for example, "Broadcasting Unit" on a radio or Protektor -> protector. Our protagonist is this land survey Replika, abbreviated as LSTR. LSTR is pronounced like "Elster" - the German word for Magpie. Her chipset is "Kasasagi" - the japanese word for a species of magpie! __________ 13:20 Chapter 1: Synchronicity _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Synchronicity is a psychological concept proposed by Swiss psychologist C.G.Jung (of "Persona" fame) - and if you're a psychologist and better familiar with this, feel free to correct me - wherein coincidental but causally unrelated events are perceived as connected through unknown means. Interestingly enough, he collaborated closely with the quantum physicist Wolfgang Pauli on this. Read past the first act and you're driven mad, enraptured by the king in yellow and the city of Carcosa. c) As Manly also notes: The photograph at the very start what of a white haired woman, Ariane Yeong. When LSTR wakes up on Sierpinski, the photograph is of a brown haired woman, Alina Seo. d) Triangles are already a big theme. There is the Penrose triangle in the spacecraft at the start, and the station shares a name with a polish mathematician famous for the Sierpiński triangle, a fractal (an internally self-similar set/shape). e) The Storch unit we meet at 46:45 perfectly shows: The devs think themselves extremely silly, naming the extremely tall unit with elongated legs "stork"... f) Iris and Ariane Yeong mentioned during the icy ego-perspective section. My personal guess: We're controlling two different Elster-units with the same kind of goal? And lastly: Thank you Manly for the amazing gameplay

In case you missed it, the banned word is most likely “re-education”. You can figure this out by noticing that the name of the first floor is blanked. While it doesn’t say it outright, the purpose of a series of highly monitored classrooms in a frontier mining facility is quite clear.

This game is PEAK. Attention to detail, great soundtrack and the fact that it's on game pass makes me ignore the minor downsides quite easily. Definitely worth playing, even if you're not a fan of the genre.

I was literally thinking to myself yesterday "I wish Manly made a series on Signalis" AND HERE IT IS

I find the use of different languages in this game to be very interesting. In the menu there is simplified Chinese, the name of the droid you play as is written in your inventory with the traditional Chinese character 鵲 (què, meaning Magpie, similar to how the other droid was called Owl in German), the doors as well as the king in yellow magazine are labeled with Japanese kanji, and most of the posters seem to be in german. The german and the kanji really give me Evangelion vibes.

I was so surprised none of the big horror creators were playing this, but you always come through

Fun fact: when, in German, you say "Eule" to a woman, it's usually a bit derogative.I think it's mostly used in the context of driving, like "Hat die Eule noch alle Tassen im Schrank?!" "Does that owl still have all cups in the cupboard?!" to hint at her clumsyness. Both, "Eule" and not having all cups in the cupboard describe her as clumsy or crazy respectively. Not sure why owls are used to convey clumsyness here. Probably because it was about women with big glasses at first. But I'm not sure at all. Yes, the translation is deliberately very direct xD .

The atmosphere of Signalis is so great especially when you have some headphones and dim the lights it gives off a really uneasy/creepy vibes

Played this back in November and its absolutely fantastic, the story, the gameplay and soundtrack are 10/10. One of those games i wish could experience for the first time again

I had my eye on this game but was trying to stay blind until I found the time to pick it up and play it. However, a playthrough from you is a wonderful surprise. This is such a strong first episode. The environments, the art style, the presentation, the story. Every aspect of this has my attention and I'm loving it.

One great tip to what exactly happening is when you awake at Sierpinski facility, you have no EVA suit. Because all that sequence before was a dream sequence. It wasn't real.

The style and direction is utterly beautiful...and the perspective changes, the blame/80's dark sci fi style mixed with the german(woohoo) and the anime styled characters is really a wonderful mix. so many different influences permeate this game its great, at least on a visual standpoint. Though I cant help but wonder just how good the ambience and atmosphere is like but alas im half deaf..I can only imagine.

I've heard a lot of praise for this game, so I am excited to see this playthrough. Also, Many mentions an old PS1 shoot em up game, Einhänder, I remember this game because I played it and was terrible at it LOL. But the OST is an absolute banger, and yeah hearing the voices that he mentions. It really gave this intense atmosphere as the main character was trying to survive.

It's only part 1, but i can see a dialogue about identity with the androids being named "replika", the use of mirrors, closed and personal shots of the characters and alternate use of the FPS... Besides other artistic choices that can resemble the "self" The art direction of this game is immaculate, I'm in love with the creative design. They made incredible choices and every detail was essencial for this amazing experience

Signalis is such a great game, the outcomes are really good depending how you play but overall the look, the atmosphere, music, everything about it is really good. The storytelling itself is really good too. A must play game.

I like this game's artstyle and worldbuilding- this mix of Ergo Proxy and Blame artstyle with opressive world kinda close to probably Psycho Pass. And well- it's interesting to see the utilitarian futurism of the place, and abundance of German instead of English. Like, even the differnet language used by the world at large feels fresher than quite overabundant English even when worldbuilding talks about world where different langauge is used (just pet peve with inconsistencies)

The atmosphere in this game is just amazing. The aesthetics and presentation is bone-chilling, oppressive, yet alluring with all the dark secrets it has to offer. The audio-work and the OST carry the "feel" of the game with the dark and distorted tones. Honestly the only complaint is the limited inventory.

Well done Manly. This could not have been easy on you with the kind of schedule you have (as far as I'm aware based off of some of your comment responses in the past).
