Tiger in his prime was phenomenal to watch. He always found a way to win in the most brilliant ways possible.

It was a freaking AMAZING shot. I watched it on TV that weekend, to see if he could make history (become the second to achieve the 'Triple Crown' of US Open, Open Championship and Canadian Open). Unless you were watching what you DON'T know is that Tiger's PREVIOUS SWING was interrupted on the downswing by a Photographer, as happened many times to him. He stopped mid-swing, which is a tremendous physical feat, but seemed to throw him off for the next shot, which he flared right into the bunker. It had also been raining, making the shot and landing even more unpredictable... Tiger had to hit it out of a bunker, out of wet sand, 216 yards over trees, over a lake, fade the ball over over said trees, to a blind tucked pin, with a one shot lead and the opponent already on the green. It was the first time I ever saw Tiger NERVOUS about an approach shot lol. Easily one of the best shots he's ever made, 'hitting the green' or not (it hit THE FRINGE for cryin' out loud!! :) )

ajalbetjr it was a great shot and he’s the only one who could have pulled that off. However. Hitting out of wet sand in a fairway bunker is easier than the alternative.

Can't believe there are people that don't think this was a great shot. It was one of the best I've seen. I remember watching this live on TV and when he hit that shot, I jumped out of my couch. Think about it. He was 216 yards to the middle of the green with water in front. In the rain and a fairway bunker, he takes a 6 iron and hits a shot for the ages. You can give a tour player 10 shots in those same conditions and I'm not sure many can pull it that shot off.
@MrDaryboy
@MrDaryboy 8 лет назад
Was a great shot, but to say no one else could is not true. You gonna sit there and tell me that DJ, Rory or Bubba couldn't hit a 6i out of there? Please, lets not get carried away. Still a great shot though.
@Shakester71
@Shakester71 8 лет назад
Jay Smooth Did I say "no one else" could hit that shot? I said give them 10 shots in that situation (with the tournament on the line) and I'm not sure they could pull it off. I'm sure if you put Rory in there and give him small bucket of balls that he could put a few on the green, but not when it counts. You need to take some more reading comprehension classes.

On the 18th, on Sunday to win the tourney, in the rain, out of a fairway bunker, 200+ yards with a 5 iron, carrying massively unforgiving water. Sticks it like a dart. Peak Tiger was better than you remember he was.

He had like a 20ft window from a fairway bunker to fit that into. Too far and you're looking a 3 shots to get it in. Too short and you're in the water. Unreal shot.
