I am the lady with the kiddy pool trying to get my daughter , dog and stuff to safety. Not once i saw or heard first responders. No one helped us either to evaluate or to at least help us out of our places. I am very disappointed at the city at the mayor of the city . We lost our place! Our stuff! And we didnt even get a warning! Is devastating
Omg , so sorry you had no idea of this forecasted rain dump! At least someone should have been looking to help! God bless! We had a flood 9nce but didn't get in our house, just surrounded it!
you mean what our overtaxed dollars is supposed to keep cleaned out. ? also Florida is below sea level. up north years ago, the corp of engineers didn't do their job and flooded our little town quickly. diverted enough water to climb those massive hills.
Florida as a state is 100 ft above sea level. Dade/Broward are at about 10 ft above. We sit on limestone. The water drains through as it always has & always will. Local agencies STILL need to perform their due diligence with pumps & drains, etc. Compare to New Orleans and other Gulf shoreline cities from MS to TX, they dip down to approximately 10 ft below. They stay flooded longer, sometimes weeks because they sit on sand...in other words, MUD. The latest right now around here though is that there is another development trying to grow in the gulf, so we'll know more in a week I suppose.
@@scout-wv4ro True of any flood situation --- hurricane, river overflowing, etc. The water is contaminated! When the Flint River flooded Albany, GA, more than 20 years ago, one of the mechanics at the company I worked for waded into waist-deep water to try to save tools in the shop. He got a serious kidney infection and was hospitalized. Imagine all the chemicals in an industrial area!
@@mischaraine1645 "As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the LORD hurled large hailstones down on them. And more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites." - Joshua 10:11. Our insurance company really doesn't want to get involved when the Lord starts throwing hailstones at people. It would cost us a fortune. But anyway, praise the Lord!
@@mischaraine1645 there are precious few advantages and protections baked into insurance policies for consumers. Clearly the benefits are stacked on the side of the insurers, enabled by their regulators at the state capitol.

No need for prayers. god is "OMNISCIENT." He already KNEW this would happen and what you're praying to him about. He's also "OMNIPRESENT" and was there when it happened.
@Danny451 PRAY WITHOUT CEASING FOR THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD! 1Thessalonisns 5:17) of course God knows the end from the beginning but the Bible never says not to Pray! Eventually South Florida will be uninhabitable for various reasons and I'd hate to be the homeowner and the bank that's holding the mortgage on each house down there!
Look I think it sucks as bad as you do where is the lie here? Overpopulation is one of the attributes that make it that way. The congestion in south Florida has gotten worse in the last 4 years starting with the pandemic.
@@joshuaortiz2031 I hope you are you doing ok. In a disaster it is very difficult to help when your own life is in danger. I know how to swim but not necessarily in the middle of a flooded street! Be blessed!
Ask your Governor to try and make a deal with DeSantis to build a gigantic pipeline across the country to pump the water into the desert. Of course, you'll have to clean out all the salt water from the ocean mix.
The houses in ft.lauderdale like in las olas for example,do those houses get hit bad as well since they are right on the water pretty much.reason i ask is because they never show those parts in the news thats why im asking thanks.
My heart goes out to everyone that was stuck out there. I work at big lots In Hollandale beach.. I had to go through A1A with my co-workers, and we made it out, but we headed North on US1. That's when it was a disaster. We were literally stuck in traffic for over 5 hours... I've been working at my location for over 23 years. And I have been through several storms, but by far this was the worst... My Prayers to all...
@@Starbright317 , Yes, you are right it is “historic”. It will have a great and lasting importance. A “historic” flash flood event occurred in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the surrounding areas April 12, 2023. The Fort Lauderdale area reported 25.6 inches of rain within approximately 12 hours.
I have no pity for people who moved to Florida during the past 10 years. If they had EVER done any reading on the internet, they would have known this was going to just get worse, worse and worse.
Why would they. Did you learn anything ? How would they solve this problem ? I know one thing for sure, almost a trillion dollars went to Ukraine and Israel to kill and destroy human life so while I feel for the people in those areas, they support the money going over seas instead of using it to rebuild the useless outdated infrastructure in the US. Did you see the bragging the US did after Israel killed 300 to rescue 4 . ?
Heavy long periods of rain takes time for the ground to soak it up. Need better storm drainage. A reservoir. How much trash is clotting the drains if there are drainage system. 👈🏼🤔
I really hate living in California but I would really hate to deal with this type of weather. These people are risking their lives being in these conditions.
@@kimjones2056 I’ve lived in Southern California for over half a century and have never experienced any type of flooding on this magnitude. I’ve seen flooded intersections but never on this scale.
Yep, I was one of them. In fact I actually drove by that reporter heading home from work. From that spot where he was to the building I live in, usually about 5-10 minutes. This night, an hour and a half.
I used to live in Miami-Dade from August '79 to January '85 and I remember only one storm that caused nuisance flooding out in the western and northwestern suburbs that were at a lower elevation. Nothing like this and never, ever, on Route 1 which is basically at the highest elevation.
I just asked this question to someone else and waiting for a response so ill ask you the same.houses like in ft.lauderdale that have waterfront homes do they get hit bad with flooding also? Im asking because they never show that side of town when a crises like this hits thanks.
This is amazing. I live in mid Florida and heard the weather warnings 3 days ago. People think and plan ahead. My insurance goes up because I’m surrounded by people with no sense of awareness. There’s just no way to fix stupid!
Don’t worry, the level of stupidity in Florida does not exceed the level of stupidity in other parts of the US. There is more than enough to go around.
Born/raised in Miami. 70 yrs old and love the tropics and all that goes with it. If you don't like yearly tropical storm seasons, then go live in a desert out west. We'll be fine. Thank-you. Have a nice day.😁✌🌴🐬🌺🌦☔
unfortunately many people who have lived there the longest can barely afford to live in Florida and with these storms coming more frequently and stronger and insurance companies leaving the state it doesnt look good for those with few options.
@@ileanarivera2917 I can understand. I'm not immune to the financial situation. At my age I still must work. I still rather do that right here. Now about the storms/summer weather....This year is a La Niña year so yes, it is projected we will have more possible storm activity. It goes in cycles, has been for thousands of years. Last year was El Niño there was very mild/fewer heavy storm activity then. No news here at all. That's life.😊
At what point does anyone realize the lower land level WILL FLOOD 🤔 US1 IS NOT UNDER WATER but folks will drive there vehicles like there submarines fyi disconnect the batteries until the flooding stops. for few days if necessary.
I live in Miami.. and just think 🤔… this is the beginning of hurricane season.? My car was totaled from flood damage in 2017. Thank God I made it through this flood.
I live on the west coast. If there was a way to take that excess water to help folks out in the areas where its flooding i would do it. Nature can be cruel. Too much water in parts in the country not enough of it in other parts. Prayers for those who are dealing with the flooding🙏❤️
What's happening across the world is alarming! And it's not normal. But, people are still not paying attentions and praying for God's mercy to falls through for mankind. Because, they are so preoccupied in the sphere of life. But, there will be darker days ahead of us until we take the necessary steps to repent and acknowledging the most high God. 😔 ❤
Certainly not normal. Are you suggesting it should all be ignored. I presume that you are high and dry somewhere and don’t care about problems somewhere else.
My Mercedes was owned in FL and it died on me 11 months after I bought it. It was in an accident, but idk if it flooded. It probably did cause the computer is what went out.
You can inspect for flood damage. If a car is totaled Florida issues a branded title. I would fear purchasing a car from the rust belt area. Just don’t buy cars from idiots.
No it hasnt. Stop being dumb, daff and an idiot. Can you list the years in which the place have been flooded in June prior to the last 3 years since this is always happening for generations. Its moe rone like you that deserves to be in chest deep flood areas. Until you idiots admit that this isnt normal like you are pretending it is, then they wont try to fix it.
It’s not a normal system at all. I’m 60 and have lived in the area affected for a long time. I’ve been in waist deep water here twice in the last 30 years. Most hurricanes don’t rain like this. Last years 25” deluge in a day in Ft Lauderdale and Hollywood was bad but it appears like this is going to whoop it. We’re in Hollywood. We’ve had a foot of rain since it began, it’s still raining, and it’s going to rain until at least Saturday by all accounts. Possibly another foot. It’s an epic flood event. Not even remotely normal, even for here.
@@jdog4usmc1 My mechanic whose shop is maybe a mile from the airport and a half mile from where I work lost 20-25 clients cars in that one day rain. We live 3 miles from there. We also got most of 2 feet of rain. Our immediate neighborhood doesn’t flood, yet, but everywhere around it does in events like this. Left my car at work and a co-worker brought me home. I have a little Mazda 3, a trooper in last years flood. I got lucky getting back after being stranded, unscathed, on higher ground until the water receded 4 hours later. This time, nah. It’s good at work, parked next to my bosses Maserati.
Good thing the Almighty Ron DeSantis has made it almost illegal to say the phrase or use the words climate change. You can see how effective his logic is. Consider this a gift from mother Earth, Ron.
I live in western central Florida. We have had almost no rain so far this spring, and we could have used some of the rain south Florida is getting. This makes me sad. I hope those folks recover and get on with life.
This has been happening every year in the past but this kind of news is what insurances needs to have as "proof" for your increased premiums. 😂😂😂😂. Thanks a lot to all the sensacionalist news outlets.
Hysterically, the news anchor is asking about the first responders, like "Where are they??" Well, they got up and looked out the window and promptly called in sick!
Broward County got to fix the drain system in south Broward specifically, they need to take a them mobile home and build high condos and townhomes, because it’s trash on the road, because of these mobile homes.
@@Lynn7015hb they should pay them nobody should be homeless that’s not, what am saying but when this happen and trash and other stuff from, there get on the streets it’s a hazard for cars.
The drainage systems in all of South Florida have fallen into a state of failure for various reasons. The water management district needs to reverse the direction of the canals, build gates where the canals come into the sea to prevent salt water intrusion, and build pump stations along the everglades embankment and pump all that flood water into the everglades where it belongs!
When you cover everything with asphalt and development in pursuit of unfettered greed, the water has nowhere to go. And this is what you get. Welcome to paradise.
Similar to a snowstorm, do ALL these drivers need to be on the road? I understand some need to get to work, but many motorists could be driving around for leisure to survey the flooding or some have errands that can wait.
It's like everything in the country, no matter what happens or what politically decided to do or not do, especially corrupt people, everyone else pays for it all. Making Florida uninsurable in every way.
