Ebony C nah mom knows best... Florida is not a good place for kids... too much trouble in mia.... in Alabama he would be more focused..... fla is the top team That looses recruits for getting in trouble....
nimyep This may be the case, but there's a time and place for them to discuss their issues as a family, behind closed doors. She should have kept her emotions to herself and be there for her son regardless. At least he's going to college and getting an education. If his NFL career doesn't pop off, at least he will have his degree and can strive to be whatever he wants. By her doing this, showed her pettiness and lack of self control. One day, she'll regret this. Peace
more people like you has to speak out Tiffany, because sadly people will associate you with women like her. Under her watch, the son can barely speak English, and there's Africans who never set foot in America who can speak English 4 times better than him -very sad young men like him start their life behind the 8ball
@@dos1397His mom revealed that Jacob was affiliated with a Gang in Florida so she wanted him to get out of Florida. Also Alabama has a good NFL caliber coach and Florida is a joke for football....so the only reason Jacob chose Florida was so that he can stay closer to his gang
Yes congrats but I wonder how many athletes actually take there academics seriously or how many say hey if I produce well for just 1yr or 2 i can get drafted so no need to take my academics seriously
THANK YOU! People are so quick to judge. Why else would just about EVERYONE, including himself, be wearing red. It’s clear no one knew he would switch up
I don’t think it’s about gangs. Gainesville Florida( u of Florida) is 5 hours away from Pensacola Florida. U of Alabama is 4 hours away Technically Alabama would be closer to the gang hes affiliated with.
The reason the momma walked off is because the boy was apart of a gang in Florida so she wanted him to leave Florida. So any mother in this predicament would’ve walked off too. No it’s not right but they making it seem worse than it really was. Didn’t even tell the full story on why she didn’t want her son going to the college he chose.
Even if that's true we don't gotta let everybody know our business we can deal with that later I felt real bad for youngin an the way she stared in his face like he didn't work all his life for this moment smh
Steven McGauley No offense, but fuck her and you for that comment, she and anything she wanted or believed, in that moment, did not matter. It wasn't about her, it was about her son making a decision about HIS life and the college he was applying himself to. I hope that man is proud of his decision, because it was, indeed his and only his decision. I can't wait to see what he does in Gainesville, and don't know him personally, but hope that the man gets a degree under his belt and hopefully goes on to the NFL for a few million. Can't please everyone, so make damn sure YOU'RE happy with your life decisions, fuck what everyone else thinks.(Blood, family, whoever, if they can't be happy for you, then FUCK'EM!!)
You guys dont know the backstory obviously. The mom is just trying to keep her son safe since he and his family have gang affiliations. If you think everyone would react like that if the situation isnt serious then you're crazy.
That man will make it to the NFL! Looks like he has alot of heart and when it comes down to making the right decision for HIS life he has the balls and the smarts no matter what anyone says he makes the best decision. Sounds like a leader to me. Good luck son!
That man’s mother was trying to make him pick a D1 school outside of Florida to get him away from the gang shit before his dumbass ends up dead before he finish college & he said fuck her basically on live tv, mama always knows best, he ain’t want to move away from the shit he was into, should’ve asked him would you rather be a dead college football player or a nfl player dumbass 🤦🏾♂️
Omg bless his heart, seeing him cry like that broke my heart even more. She should feel ashamed and embarrassed for doing him that way. I'm glad to see she tried to come back, but she done hurt him beyond belief. You can forgive people but you sure won't ever forget. God bless this young man with an amazing career and a loving, supportive family.
2jcward - They probably didn’t promise her anything. Rumor has it that she wanted him to leave his home state of Florida. You can imagine the possible reasons for that.
First of all, im certain they didnt pay her anything. She wouldnt be wearing alabama and tennessee gear if she was taking money from someone. Also if she only cared about the money, she would just support her son and wait for the real nfl checks. This is about keeping her son out of trouble, because him and his family have gang affiliations, and he obviously lied to his mom on where he was gonna go.
oh wow , seeing the local camera footage puts it into better perspective ... this little clip on twitter just made it seem like a funny stunt , but this full coverage of it makes it seem sad
This have nothing to do with her being a black woman. This is between a mother and her son and they will get through this moment. A black man loves his mother no matter what. One poor judgement does'nt take away the sacrafices this mother did raising her son to become what he is today.
YG stan thank yu enough said she got him their so she has a right to feel how she wants the white people was more mad than anybody I believe he just wanted his mom to come bk and she did ok that’s how black people work and they don’t understand that ok fine they good tho
I wish l could hug you,my heart goes out to you.Don't worry young man, your tears are just to make you stronger.Just know,God got you when no one else does! Sometimes he have to reveal those who are just there,to show us who really gone stand by us.So It's okay, sometimes lt be family that hurts us the most.Find ln your heart to forgive her,l watch and pray🙇
Last I heard his mother walked out because she wanted her son to pick an outta state school because he was gang affiliated. Anybody else heard this...🤕
@@natedagreat_6479 some care. Some donot. Some nevee had the gift of a relationship with their moms so it wouldn't effect them... But , there's something SPECIAL about a Mamas Boy!❤😍🎁 ... its a Beautiful thing indeed.❤💕 God bless this mommas boy.🙏❤🎁
She was wrong... but I could relate to what mom felt. He grew up in Florida, she wanted her son. Away from all the bull sh.. gun violence and temptations Just the fast life period.
Frosty Black At the end of the day, we all trying to figure out .What made that Mother do what she did to her son, at the most important time of his life ? And really, know one will ever know! But at the end of the day that’s the lady, that gave Birth to him . before we even new, who he was🤔 -Stay Bless💯
As an Alabama State University Alumnus and former athlete, my personal endeavors were elevated beyond the sports field because of the leadership and morale at HBCU'S. Unfortunately, it's a terrible irony that our families are solely invested to groom their sons and daughters to be athletes at Predominantly White institutions while opportunities to advance socially and professionally at these same institutions are slim to obsolete. I wonder what public support this talented athlete would receive if he announced by surprise that his top pick was Florida A&M, Bethume Cookman, Miles College, Morehouse, or Hampton University, just to name some of many institutions of higher learning where the practical focus is to prepare our Afro-American athletes to compete beyond the field. This "National Day Decision" only drives the narrative that these institutions are the only avenues for professional athletes. If this were true, the NFL would had never discovered the following athletes... 1) Doug Williams - Grambling State University ( First Afro-American quarterback to be in a Super Bowl - Washington Redskins), 2) Steve McNair - Alcorn State University (Tennessee Titans), 3) Jerry Rice - Mississippi Valley State University (San Fransisco 49'ers), and Walter Payton - Jackson State University ( Chicago Bears). We need more of our 5 star athletes to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities!
She was upset because he had gang related issues down in Florida , and she wanted him to get as far away from it as he could. This was just a heart broken mother that’s trying to protect her child, but at the end of the day, the decision was his to make.
She's not getting that big ass incentive that Alabama was going to give her if her son signed that's why she's mad cuz she's not getting shit now cuz she didn't make him commit to Alabama
Mcmiller Ernest That incentive being championship rings and a damn near guaranteed draft pick. But hey, why compete with the best players everyday when you can jump right in at a once great, depleted, second rate SEC program.
She didn’t want him to go because He had games in Florida and she didn’t want him around that so she said picked other places and he didn’t that’s why she didn’t want her son dead
Damn that’s so sad how could she do that to her own son???? The damage has been done, ain’t no taking it back now. Smh.....he must have felt so embarrassed and hurt.
She wasn't worried about herself, she wants the best for him. It's hard when you have children. When you think they choose unwisely, your heart hurts because you're afraid they will get hurt. It might be that his girlfriend is going there and she doesn't want him distracted. Maybe they have family in TN and AL. I PROMISE you, the only thing she cared about was what is best for her soon. Clearly she didn't think the Gator had it. But hey, I'm a Gator so I think he made a perfect choice.
Why would she make him feel like that on his big day. Like come on. Just terrible. He worked hard for that and it’s his choice at the end of the day smh. So sad I shed a tear for him
This how you show your son support , walk out on him , even thought you ain't paying a Damn cent for the him going there .Funny thing she won't support his choice but will demand he support her when he is successful.
miguel santiago-davis no that’s a black woman who didn’t want her son to stay affiliated with the gang he had ties to in Florida. They discussed and he blindsided everyone by choosing Florida on national tv so she couldn’t say anything in the moment.
2:20 No you want the exclusive on the family drama, but don't give them nothing. You do not owe an explanation to the world, GOD Bless the Copeland family.
For those who don't know the WHOLE STORY, Copeland was involved in gangs and trouble. His mom didn't want him to stay close to home because she knows he'll get mixed up with that. That's why she stormed out. She wanted her son to go anywhere but Florida. So for those people who are assuming and saying horrible things about his mother, learn the full story first.
mom but still you don't just walk out on your son on HIS big day. He worked hard for it and got three colleges to give him a scholarship. It's hard to go to a D1 college for free.
Because they have gangs in Florida but no gangs in Alabama or Tennessee? Been to Gainesville, didn't see any gangs there, just college kids and professors.
Jon Jay Yes was a bad way her mother act, but end of the day the mother supporting him threw his youth. He would not be in this position to pick a school. When I'd played football I had no support from my mom or family, that's a big reason I never played in college I was pretty good. I was Copeland I take this bad moment brush it off and keep it moving
It isn’t about her it’s all about her son , proud of you young man , just remember to keep God first in everything that you do, blessings to you and your family.🙋🏽♀️🇧🇸🙏
Good for him make his own choices and follow his own path to his new life as a mother she should be thankful for all that he has become. Good luck on your new journey
That poor baby's heart has got to be broken his mom doing that to him on his big day when she's supposed to support him through anything she should have waited for her breakdown when she got home and away from her son to where he couldn't see her I mean that's my opinion this made me cry seeing this
Copeland later called it hilarious what his mom did. Funny he wasn't laughing when she walked out on him in the biggest moment of his life. This was painful to watch. Bummer for him.
Michael Smith that was really ignorant I am black my mom does not act that way you don’t know why she did that she did that because he had gang affiliation in Florida so she wanted her son to get away from that he could ruin his college life with that especially if he wants to go pro for football he could be cut if they found out, killed , or put in jail because he does something with that gang so don’t say ignorant shit like that unless you have plausible proven facts👎🏾‼️
@@michaelg7251 STFU you is about ignorant as her making this a race thing I see all colors Black & White & Mexicans etc act ignorant not just blacks smdh you need to fucking grow up you and the dumb asses that like your stupid ass remark
LT1_power _GM As a black child our parents do things we not proud of hell white Hispanics do it but one thang we will always do is be their always and help or parents always we only get one set that’s why he hugged her when she came bk that’s all he wanted he have a weakness for his mother like every child does and she raised him and got him to that point he is at she has a right to and opinion and the right to feel how she wants tv the white man just didn’t like what she did but it’s ok and normal once you know a black family and have grew up In a black home so white people wouldn’t understand just saying 🤷🏿♀️ good day
Just because it's not what she wanted. She should of still stayed and showed support for her son decision. It was his signing day not hers. I'm happy for Jacob and glad he followed his heart
Copeland is involved in a gang in Florida. She wanted him to get out of the state and go elsewhere. I agree she handled it wrong but she probably loves her son and doesn’t want to see him dead or in prison like his brothers
pinga Heart google his name and gang activity and there is numerous articles. Also, his brothers are all locked up for similar shit. It makes way more sense why his mother walked out for that reason because she doesn’t want him to end up like his brothers vs him not choosing Alabama or Tennessee. Also, she has 2 different teams on so it just shows she’s not a die hard of either team.
DOS 13 that makes no sense, if she was being paid by a school she wouldnt be wearing alabama and tennessee gear. Also she would just support and wait for her son to get to the nfl to get the real checks. This situation is more deep, she is trying to keep her son safe.
don't know what they had been through? why does that even matter? if he wanted to go to some junior college that is his choice. his mom should have been there and been proud of him no matter where he had chosen to go. that is unreal to me. I am an Alabama fan through and through I wanted him to come here but he chose to go to a home state school and I respect that more than anything represent where you come from is what it s all about. he probably would not have gotten to even see the field for 2 years at Alabama with all the WR we have down here right now. I am Happy for this young man and wish him nothing but the Best with the choice he made.
That brought tears to my eyes! No matter WHAT that's his choice and she should have respected that and been there for him.... I feel his pain had someone close to me that I could never make Happy until I realized that I didn't have to!!!
Mike Green I'm hearing she wanted him out of Florida to get him away from the bad influences that ended his brothers life, just an over emotional response at least she came back...
What a Beautiful young man !! That was a tuff decision to make for him..I would NEVER do that to my child..Hats off to you young man for following your ❤️ I wish you Many years of success and Happiness 😉😘😊 Big Hugs from Tampa Florida
Well College sports is big big money, there are still a lot of deals made behind the scenes to get kids to come to their school. Pay offs of cash from boosters, etc. Its a shame these young men are not getting paid something for their labors during college.
I mean get paid for playing college football, it only take one wrong hit to end your career or maybe even your life. If you are a woman I guess you could never understand because you never played contact sports like football. I used to and got hurt, but I was also smart, so I had a out.
No one clapped when he chose Florida they actually sounded shocked like why would he choose Florida?? Then they kinda felt like they had to clap so it wouldn’t be awkward. On top of that his mom walks off the one person who should always support you when no one else does. She should be ashamed.
Omg yes! Support your son no matter what college he decides to play at ! He is a smart and athletic kid! With dreams that are about to come true! His mom needs to seriously apologize big time
no because Nick Saban was going to pay her for her son to go to Alabama he went to where his heart told him to come to Florida Hometown its every kid from Florida dream to play in Florida when you from Florida
rmorris100 The media is saying this. There's a vid Cope did showing how he grew up. And how he trying to come up. An empty old house, with bullet hole in the window...I think they are making assumptions because of that vid but no proof, vid, nor tweet that Mom made this gang comment. Just messy niggas on some bullshit.
rmorris100 All this is nonsense excuse to count this man out and distract from possible recruiting corruption by Bama and Tenn. Even if he is gangster, he can change his mind to go to school and go for the NFL? Mom didn't have to "air" out his dirty laundry, if that's the case. He's gonna be fine tho.
This video just frustrates me so much that someone could be that selfish, and not just some one, but your own mom. My parents and I have had disagreements over big and little stuff, but never in a public setting have either of us ever made it a point to storm off, or embarress the other, or call one another out, or anything where eyes are watching. That's something you do in the back, in your car, over the phone later or you suck it up and don't do it at all because in this case, a mom should be proud their son is going to college, hello!, and getting the means to go there. So many don't get that chance, and she has forever stolen that moment from her son.
Jus so you know he was affiliated to a gang in florida. His mom didnt care where he want but just wanted to get him out of FL to keep him safe. Still not saying walking out was right. But thats why she did
I’m sure she sacrificed as well but it was his day and she ruined it. We don’t know the background story but I feel for this young man nonetheless. She could’ve been at a sentencing or funeral. He’s going to school for free doing what he obviously loves and I celebrate his success.....one less to the streets! Good luck young man!
That's messed up!! Support your son no matter what. It's because your not getting that backdoor check from Alabama now huh mom? I have three boys if I'm blessed enough to get asked to help them with that decision I would be proud wherever they chose despite if it went against what i thought was best.
Bruh this man’s family is taking this way to seriously. It’s where your kid is going to college. He’s going where he thinks he can get his best shot in the NFL. Be happy for him, support him. Don’t storm out and cry like a little kid cuz he picked a school. You should be happy that your son gets to pick his schools in the first place! So many kids don’t get that opportunity. Act like an adult and be happy for your kid.
They didn't take it seriously at all. The mother walked off, the grandmother was a vegetable, the one girl was playing on her phone and the couple standing behind him were getting ready to make out. They embarrassed him.
He had gang affiliations in Florida. She wanted him as far away as possible! He told her he wasn’t going to stay in Florida. She was trying to save his life
Man, this broke my heart how she did this to him........shameful, like he didn’t have enough pressure on that day without her trying to force him to pick a team she wanted...... *_DAMN._* She realized how she was going to have the world against her with her selfishness and then doubled back to try getting on the gravy train before he disowns her. How did she come to the conclusion that this was *_HER DAY?_* Wasn’t enough that he’s trying to pursue a better education and a better life instead of running the streets.
1Ephraimite She did it because she told him to either go to Ten or Bama because he had gang relations in Florida, and she wanted him to be safe. Then he basically said fuck her and went to Florida anyway.
She was probably embarrassed because she had on an Alabama shirt. She was probably thinking he let me come here with this shirt knowing he was not choosing Alabama. She was there for him, she did not leave the building. They must be very close and he does love his mother dearly...it is just horrible that people will now think that something is wrong with the family. Nothing's wrong this is how families are sometimes and pretending that they are 100% perfect all the time is the true lie. God bless them both the struggle of life is real.
I agree. He knew he wasn’t going to pick them. You can tell someone before having them wear items. And even if the schools did offer money, maybe the mom was thinking in the long run. Making pro ain’t a guarantee. Shoot save some money, that would be my thinking. Start a saving fund as a back up, be smart. Because when you pay bills you might need that money later.
Hold up! She was wearing Alabama shirt plus Tennessee skull cap as well. So why did you destroyed your son moment in history. Answer she did not give a f***.
She wrong but he told her either Alabama or Tennessee n he pick gators he had her on tv looking like a damn fool wearing 2 differnt colleges she not the only mom who be mad but she shouldn't had walked off its not about her its bout him
She still his mother It came by surprise for her & she just act on emotions like most of us do & I know that had to hurt him to his soul but that's still his mother he go love her regardless when he do get that check he still go cash momz out so chill👏💪✌
JACOB ISREAL They can't do it. Being humble is a gateway to being compassionate. These types of black mothers are very selfish and vindictive. she is not a 4 star recruit it wasn't her moment so she did what selfish humans do. She walked out. Typical black woman behavior.
