Great interpretation. Since it’s a mourning chant, I’d just had a slower and more solemn pace, as the Alpini usually do. It’s an hymn that grossly says “God of the mountains, please bless our fallen comrade” That said It’s a great interpretation, thank you. So beautiful!

I sing in a male choir, and we often play "Signore delle cime": every time is a big emotion. Listening to your performance I was exited as well, very good execution.

Oh my god, Julien, I'm so glad you recorded this masterpiece :) As a child I used to sing alto in our choir and I've always looked on our men's choir and I was like ,,Gosh, I wanna be one of them...'' Then I grew up and became bass. This was one of the first pieces I learned. I've always loved it, it means so much to me :) Keep it up, you're FENOMENAL! A bit more dynamics than the usual patented Trudbol crystal clear FORTE... Nice touch, remember it takes more energy to sing p than it does to sing f. When you cut volume, you don't cut energy, you ADD it. Thank you again for your music and voice. My nephews looked at me like I was crazy when it brought a tear to my eye.
Bravo Julien, songs from Alpine choruses are the most popular and folkloric kind of a cappella music in Italy. Glad that you embraced this genre in your repertoire. PS Good pronunciation amico!
I wander what our American barbershoppers friends would say about an Italian text for a barbershop arrangement. Some people didn't salute positively my Italian version of Hallo Mary Lou posted a wile ago (though is the most viewed of my videos)
***** I don't think you're right about that Ronnie. Chords in barbershop mostly ring because of proper tuning, not as much because of vowel formants (though that helps of course). And chords can ring just fine with Italian vowels. Why would you think otherwise?
As far as I learnt from our coaching from US, elongating the vowels and shortning the final consonant (if any), assumed that the singers produce the same vowel quality, contributes significantly to lock the chords (one man choirs don't have this problem ;P) . I guess this applies to all the phonetics disregarding the actual language used. The shifting of the accent that might come out surely misleads the listener in the understanding of the actual meaning of the lyrics, but this has always been an issue in Opera singers for instance.

Julien, I'm Italian and I can assure you all the words you sang were very clear and I had no problems whatsoever understanding them. Somewhat sad song but very well executed ... amazing. How many more languages can you sing in? :)

Dans 99% de la musique occidentale (la musique tonale), on ne joue que dans une tonalité à la fois. C'est à dire qu'une musique ou une phrase musical qui commencerait par exemple sur un do aura de fortes chances de terminer aussi sur un do (m'enfin ça c'est extrêmement simplifié). Ce qu'on entend ici c'est de l'harmonie. c'est à dire plusieurs voix qui chantent sur différentes notes d'un même accord (majeur ou mineur par exemple), mais les voix sont toutes au même ton.

I'm Italian and I must tell you that sometimes I can't stand hearing people with amazing voices just because their pronounciation is awful... but you just did perfectly! :)
