In october 1962, during the Sino-Indian conflict, the Chinese People's Liberation Army deployed vast numbers of troops across the border between China and India, high up in the inhospitable Himalayas mountain range.
This was in response to an ongoing dispute with India over territory.
There had also been numerous clashes between the two sides after the Tibetan Uprising in 1959, when their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama was expelled from the country by the Chinese and offered asylum in India.
A fierce and bloody battle took place at Bum La Pass, as the Indian Army attempted to counter attack and push back the invading forces. In the middle of this conflict was an Indian Officer by the name of Joginder Singh.

There was another incident in this war which isn't mentioned in this video. An Indian Rifleman by the name of Jaswant Singh of 4th Garhwal Rifles had lost his entire platoon but he managed to hold off Chinese attacks for 48 hours by using deceptive tactics and making the Chinese think there were more Indian soldiers guarding the outpost.

21 Sikhs held 10000 armed Afghanis carrying early bolt action rifles from above a fort during 1800s much long. 20 Sikhs held 200 Chinese soldiers carrying modern automatic assault rifles from a fortified position uphill in 1962 much long. This was just one of the Battles of this war where heroic last stands was. Another two would be: Battle of Rezang La: 120 Indian Soldiers vs 5000 Chinese Soldiers. Battle of Nauranang: Where a single Indian soldier(from 4th Garwhal rifle), Jaswant Singh Rawat, decided to stay when his company withdrew from the position after suffering heavy casualties and from lack of logistics. He held of the Chinese alone with the help of two local girls, Sela and Noora. Rushing from position to position, Rawat held off the enemy(approximately 300 more or less Chinese) for 72 hours until the Chinese captured a local supplier, who told them that they were facing only one fighter. The Chinese then stormed Rawat's position, but the exact details of his death are unclear. Some accounts claim that Rawat shot himself with his last round of ammunition; others state that he was taken prisoner and executed by the Chinese. Sela was also KIA and Noora was captured. What's make his last stand more interesting is that One of the Chinese Soldier cut off his head and took the decapitated head back of home as war trophy. But out of respect for his bravery, the Chinese commander eventually returned Rawat's severed head and a brass bust of him to Indian Government after the war was over.

India is full of courageous martial races but the sad fact is that it has become customary to rely on the personal courage of personnel because that is *cheaper* than equipping them with the best. We are in 2022 and the Indian army is STILL upgrading the equipment of personnel in sensitive regions, to a standard that was relevant decades ago, one would thin atleast the airforce would be given more prominence but nope Mig 21s still form the bulk and will only be phased out by 2025 and that too who knows if the schedule will hold or some political crap will stall that.
@death_parade

Err....I agree with you in principle, but MiG-21 don't form "the bulk" anymore. Only around 3 squadrons in service now. Earlier this year, there were 4 MiG-21 squadrons in service, but starting this year, they are being phased out at rate of one squadron per year. So by 2025, MiG-21 era in Indian Air Force will end.

And then India continued denying Sikhs their political right which culminated in an agitation lasting decades and involved, among other atrocities: a tank led invasion of the holiest Sikh shrine on an important religious day that killed thousands of civilians, destroyed the holiest hand written scriptures of our Gurus, riots led by the ruling party that killed thousands of sikhs (including the families of veterans) in the streets of Indian cities where Sikhs were in a minority; costing India a Prime minister, an army chief, the indignity of needing tanks to counter a handful of militiamen, and the defection of a war hero general (Shubeg Singh) and many top officer.

The Paramveer Chakra is awarded for "distinguished acts of valour"??? No no no....the Paramveer Chakra is not like the Medal of Honour or Victoria Cross, the medal is awarded for bravery beyond what is humanly capable. Of the 21 Param Veer Chakras awarded to all individuals, 16 are posthumous. It is very rare for a soldier to be alive and be awarded the Paramveer Chakra. Last time the Paramveer Chakra was awarded was in 1999 during the Kargil war. One medal was awarded to Captain Vikram Batra (posthumous) and the other was awarded to now Subedar Major Yoginder Singh Yadav, the youngest recipient of the honour. Also, the Paramveer Chakra is not an "Indian Army medal" rather it is a military medal awarded to all branches of the military and paramilitary during times of war.

Almost the same story as the late honourable heroic warrior Subedar Singh. Outnumbered, out of ammo, and mounted the only recorded desperate bayonet charge in the battle for Singapore before being captured and executed. Before that, he and his company managed to inflict many Japanese casualties and held on to his position for days even when faced with artillery and aerial bombardments. The Japanese wanted break his line and tried to fool him by disguising themselves as Sikh soldiers marching in fours instead of threes in the British army but that didn't fool the smart Lieutenant Adnan, who then ordered his men to open fire at the Japanese at close range. The longest battle during the fall of Malaya and Singapore. His war cry was "Biar putih tulang, Jangan putih mata!" Meaning "Death, before dishonour." Satya sanatan…?? Please stop this propaganda. Sikhs are dedicated towards humanity, all mighty lord, guru Nanaks teachings. Dont try to assimilate us. Wherever on earth we will go we will work for the welfare of all creation

@@parmindersingh-vb9on don't you get it?... These anti-nationals want us to be seperated by their false propaganda, admit it, I'm just saying the truth.... Even Guru Govind Singh's name was on "Govind" which is lord Krishna, Guru Nanak was a Ram bhakt, all the Gurus of Sikhism were Hindus, Sikhism is just a warrior class of Hinduism which was build to eradicate muslim invaders from India for the peace and tranquility of the country and to protect the dharma, the Sanatan dharma 🙏🕉️ and Sanatan dharma includes Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism, these are all Indic dharmic paths ❤️🕉️

Seeing as most Sikhs have the last name Singh, calling him that is best responded to with the "do you have any idea how little that narrows it down" meme.

The word Singh which means Lion. It is used both as a surname and middle name. Singh was taken on by Sikhs in 1699, when Guru Gobind Singh instructed his followers to use Singh. Every Sikh has Singh in their name.
