@hammer455exactly Indians constantly try to assimilate us, especially when we used to have our own separate country, which we want back because lack of basic human rights even till this day, Indian government has no choice in allowing us to follow our religion and carry weapons, Sikhs would protect any people from any other people it just happened to be Some Muslims trying to convert all others in the area at the time

You’ll hear a lot of people saying it’s part of the ‘sanatan dharma’. Which in other words is an ancient term for Hinduism. Sikhism isn’t that, because it rejects the Vedas altogether and the founder himself said ‘There is no Muslim and there is no Hindu’ (as you saw in the video). It is a distinct faith with a distinct ideology, but it itself is accepting of the other faiths and their traditions. Also, you can’t really get your hands on a physical copy of the Guru Granth Sahib because it’s a living Guru. You would have to maintain it and respect it as you would a human, so probably better to just get an app that has its words.

@@stayspiritual Im Sikh too, so I just want to add context to what sohna said. Modern Sikhs, especially those living outside of India are a very proud lot and insist on a separate identity from Hindus. However, quite a large number of Sikhs consider themselves Sikh Sanatanis, basically Sikh Hindus. That is because we recognise the core philosophies, beliefs and practices are the same and trace back to the Vedas. It is definitely not true that Sikhs reject the Vedas. This is based on a misinterpretation where Sikh scriptures say things like "even the Vedas cannot describe the greatness of god" or "even brahma Vishnu and Shiva cannot describe his greatness" and Nanak's famous saying "there is no hindu and no Muslim " Separatist minded Sikhs basically take this to mean that Sikh scriptures reject Hinduism and guru Nanak created a separate religion. This is because they are not educated in Hinduism. They don't actually know hindu texts themselves say similar things and even worse such as "the Vedas are useless to one who wants liberation; and useless to one who is liberated " meaning -- the path of liberation is through self effort not by reading and memorizing books; it is criticising book learned pandits. "I have no father, no caste, no creed, no religions, no duty... I am shiva infinite being and consciousness " meaning that no attribute belong to the true self/soul, all attributes we identify with 'i am this or that" are ephemeral, false identities, we are actually unlimited infinite beings and any Identify, even "I am Hindu" limit us. This is what guru Nanak means when he says "there is no Hindus or Muslim" not "there are only humans" and definitely not what many foolish Sikhs interpret as "there are only Sikhs" even though it is very clear in Sikh philosopy that we need to destroy the ego. As you may be able to tell Sikh philosopy and Hindu philosophy are pretty much identical. Same concept of god as Brahman, Maya, moskha, reincarnation, karma. Thus Sikhs who insist "we have a completely separate ideology" are very misguided and often ignorant about Hinduism and what it actually teaches. Like they will say things like "Hindu worship many gods but we worship only one" and any educated person knows this is a misconception about Hindus -- Hindus worship one supreme being (Brahman) who is manifest in infinite forms, such as the Hindu trinity Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva. Sikhism accepts the exact same belief in the Hindu trinity. But that almighty lord is beyond the trinity, beyond his forms. "Sikhism rejects the caste system" also false, Sikhs have castes like jatts, khatri, tarkan and jatts are the highest caste. The breaking of caste barriers was not something Guru Nanak started, although he certainly crystallised it, it had started centuries before him in what is called the Bhakti movement, a reformist mass movement within Hinduism which was based on pure devotional singing and worship of God, bringing together all castes in the common worship of God and the translations of Hindu scripture into vernacular languages that the masses could read. Guru Nanak was a part of this Bhakti movement, that is where he spent his childhood. Hence why Sikhism is considered an off shoot of the Bhakti movement. The general idea was God is one, everybody worships the same God but with different names. Ironically, the most often used name for God in the Guru Granth Sahib, the living guru and sacred book of Sikhs is 'hari' which is the name of the Hindu god Vishnu. Separatist Sikhs get embarrassed when they learn this and literally go into meltdown and apologetics.

@@RajSingh-xn8qd whilst this is very compelling, it’s routed in a misconception. I’m actually quite well versed in both Sikhism and Hinduism (although the latter is closer to a group of religious traditions rather than a single religion). To address your Veda argument, you don’t actually make one. Sikhism very outwardly criticises the traditions of the Vedas and sees them as useless rituals with no actual merit. That isn’t to say that ALL Hindus are ignorant, because in Sikhi, people from other faiths can still find God through meditation. However that requires ignoring large portions of Hindu traditions that demand practices that are unhelpful in Sikhism. Second, whilst it is true that Hinduism in general and Sikhism share similar concepts and similar wording, we must also remind ourselves that in the context of 16th century India, the semantic field of knowledge could only be understood using Hindu references. That means that any concept, be it Maya or Mukti, would have to be understood in reference to already existing Hindu concepts in order for people to effectively understand them. This issue is more a etymological problem than a conceptual one. The same would apply here in modern day Western cultures, where all concepts would have to be understood in reference to Christianity. Third, the caste system is not intrinsic to Sikhism. The idea of separating people based of caste is abhorrent and is the antithesis to Sikh values which can be observed in practices like Langar. However, due to the massive hegemonic power that Hinduism has over the entire reigion of India, most religious minorities have been affected by caste divisions and incorporated them into their own traditions. You’ll find that even Muslims and Buddhists have fallen to the influence of Hindu traditions despite their foundations being totally against it. This why caste systems still seemingly exist in Punjab, although they are not as vigorously divided as traditionally Hindu villages. Finally, Hari, Shiv and Bisn are all names often used names in the Guru Granth Sahib to refer to God. They DO NOT however mean Vishnu or Shiva. They are adjectives that describe attributes of God but have been historically commonly associated with the Hindu Trimurti. Hari doesn’t mean Vishnu, it means One Who forgives all Sins. Shiva means One Who stays calm even in rough waters. If you were familiar with the terminology used to refer to the Hindu Gods in Sikh scripture - one being ‘Mahadev’ which is used by Guru Gorbind Singh to refer to the Hindu character of Shiva - you’d know how poor this argument is. Also, whilst Guru Nanak Dev Ji arose during the Bhakti movement, if you read the janamsakhis, he does not identify himself as Bhakti. Calling him something that he himself doesn’t isn’t really accurate. P.s. Whilst I may not be a Sikh separatist, I recognise how politically charged a debate like this is, especially since the BJP party is notorious for spreading disinformation about Sikhs and attempting to integrate them into a wider Hindu tradition all at the same time. I also recognise how distinct Sikhism is from Hinduism, as I’ve already demonstrated.

So guru ji gave sikhs this. This is the Mool Mantar..The Root Verse. It is Sikhi in it's entirety Ik- There is ONE(Ik) reality, the origin and the source of everything. The creation did not come out of nothing. When there was nothing, there was ONE, Ik. Onkaar- When Ik becomes the creative principal it becomes Onkaar. Onkaar manifests as visible and invisible phenomenon. The creative principle is not separated from the created, it is present throughout the creation in an unbroken form, 'kaar'. Satnaam- The sustaining principle of Ik is Satnaam, the True Name, Existence. Kartaa Purakh- Ik Onkaar is Creator and Doer (Kartaa) of everything, all the seen and unseen phenomenon. It is not just a law or a system, it is a Purakh, a Person. If I am sentient then so to is The Totality Nirbhau- That Ik Onkaar is devoid of any fear, because there is nothing but itself. Nirvair- That Ik Onkaar is devoid of any enmity because there is nothing but itself. Akaal Moorat- That Ik Onkaar is beyond Time (Akaal) and yet it is existing. Its a Form(Moorat) which does not exist in Time. Ajooni- That Ik Onkaar does not condense and come into any birth. All the phenomenon of birth and death of forms are within it. Saibhang- That Ik Onkaar exists on its own, by its own. It is not caused by anything before it or beyond it. Gurprasaad- That Ik Onkaar is expresses itself through a channel known as Guru and it is only its own Grace and Mercy (Prasaad) that this happens. Ikoaʼnkār saṯ nām karṯā purakẖ nirbẖao nirvair akāl mūraṯ ajūnī saibẖaʼn gur parsāḏ.

The Guru Granths SahibS age and appear to die and are cremated. The Guru Granth Sahib has it's own bedroom and bed in the Temple complex. IT is considered a sentient creation. It is an Hermetic Talisman..a direct conduit to the Divine...a link between two aspects of the same entity .. the illusion of creation and an eternal force existing throughout creation..THE Force.. It was not given to us by any lady in a lake..HUMAN BEINGS FASHIONED IT...MUSLIMS, HINDUS, SIKHI. But we humans won't realise that even till our end ,, remember being a human is both the best and worst , depends how you make it but believe me this is only a chance

@@stayspiritual guys - one power - creator - who is not born - no shape - but can take any shape - can send Avtaar's on earth for some special purpose which we human cannot figure out ,, lets leave this beside and lets talk about .. Supreme one - our creator is not only regulating our earth but trillions of other earth like planets. Yes trillions, this is also mentioned in Sikh holly book. Guru granth sahib. Now question might arise how is he regulating , when i say regulating , it only means wht you do. , Means karma , he will make sure you get rewarded or punished for your doings,, so every living thing is allowed to do what he thinks ,, but accordingly he gets what he does, may be in this birth or next or may be 100 births later.. So human takes decisions by himself , so human is responsible for his actions , but is paid off by creator ,, let me give an example - now a days you must have heard about Ai(artificial intelligence) and we feel wow. Its amazing , so our creator who is trillion and trillion advance from us , has set Ai kind of thing. Here Ai for creator is very small word , his AI is - yes you are right trillion times advance , so what every anyone does especially human , the Ai set by the creator has some rules and is automatically applies on human that he might get rewarded or punished as per his karma , may be in the same birth or 100 birth later .. so whatever you do , you will get it , just like farmer put seeds and get crops ,, having said that .. Creator has also given chance to human that he can change his karma , means any bad deeds he dis in his previous birth can be changed or he can be forgiven only by Naam(Like meditation, remembering creator) and Seva (unconditional social work) so being human is the only chance to make good karma , remember that , cos you also have to take 84 lakh births which are not human like dog, car , insects , an atom which may live for a sec or even mountain which may live for 10,000 years or more .. every information is in latest holly book , guru granth sahib ,.. I know people wont believe cos they dont want to. Human doesn't know why have they taken human birth .. there are so many more things ,, this is 100% true ,, try to understand deeply. ,, If you hv any questions, can ask me

I don’t think so.. santan dharma is just an ancient name of hindu religion And what you’re tryna say is that all religions of India are just hinduism

Sikhi is not part sanatan dharam

Sanatan dharma ” is a 19th century concept which attempted to paint all belief systems in India as stemming from the Vedas of the Indo-Aryan Brahmin peoples’ Sanskrit literary culture. So, the answer is NO. Sikhs aren’t part of it. So please don’t just pass off what I’m saying as nonsense but look into it Just because the term means “timeless religion”, doesn’t mean it actually amounts to any concrete meaning defined my an academic (or otherwise) scholar. A term without a proper definition is… well… colloquial slang, which has been heavily politicised over the last decades to paint Sanskrit as some kind of secret mystical eternal language of “original aryans” that somehow encodes all secrets of the universe. Reality of course is that this illusory promise couldn’t be further from the truth. Reference: A 17th century survey of religious traditions in the Indian subcontinent, called the Dabestān-e-Mazāheb, lists a bunch of different pre-Islamic religions of the Indian subcontinent (Indus civilisations, Gangetic civilizations, Bengal, etc.), under the category Hindu (in it’s original sense, NOT post-19th century religio socio-political Brahminical sense) he lists: Smarta tradition Vedantists (Nath?) Jogi mendecants Godess worshippers Vishnu worshippers Lokyata materialists Jains Sanyasi mendicants Avaduta mendecants Jangam Jogi mendecants Sufi Hindus (Madāriā, Jalāliā, Kakā) Gosain Haridas’ sect Dadu Panthi sect Piara Panthi sect Gosain Jani sect Sun worshippers Moon worshippers Wind worshippers Water worshippers Earth worshippers Human worshippers Nowhere in this exhaustive list is the (relatively modern) term “Sanatana Dharma” ever mentioned ANYWHERE.

This video touches the basics of Sikh dharam but its way deep and most beautiful dharam in whole wide world as per i researched other Faiths! Its alot closer to Vedas! Not every sikh have to carry all these but one who partake in Amrit Ceremony! BOXER can't restrain anyone from sexual activity! DAHH😏 actually it's nothing to do with sexuality its just a Loose Boxer designed to Fight long hand combats comfortably!😅
