Loved the interview. I always liked Simbu’s honesty. Whether it is a small dance event or an interview or acting (at various levels of spectrum) and even bad acting / bad movies -he has seen it all. I think he is a perfect “Nayak” (Ray reference) in that sense. I am glad he is appreciated by Baradwaj (Note: Baradwaj liked a lot of good energy movies of Simbu - including Vaalu IIRC) His whole demenaor and casual responses and his screen presence even in an interview is something to behold. Simbu in that spiritual sense has a lot in common with Ilayaraja - who is perceived as arrogant but who literally means what he says. Simbu as an actor has a lot of scope for doing a lot of interesting movies - with a lot of new actors scripts medium etc. his lack of success is a goodThing in that regard as it is keep him hungry and not sated. I wish him the best. he has given more honest moments on screen for me. I like that he acts and doesn’t “act”. He is in his third act in his life. I hope he does a lot of art’sy movies as well. I wish he had acted with balumahendra in a movie. It is not too late. his spiritual talk about freewill destiny itself are interesting as I can imagine a million scripts that can help push movies towards interesting areas. I wish Simbu remains in this mental space for a very long time. That would create wonders for cinephiles and life itself - it is a cinema after all 🙂

Hey BR, wish you'd spoken about Vaanam too. STR was a revelation in it, with whatever space he got. His acting (even crying) was restrained, that natural ease he mentioned he has with GVM was there all over. The line "Enna vazhka da ithu" still resonates with so many, the way he said it :D With VTV, Vaanam and Poda Podi, Vettai Mannan lined up, it really felt like we were gonna see Simbu 2.0, but somehow things didn't pan out that way. Happy to see the space he is in right now :)
