@alpha6hi to be fair, I watched vorobeys videos where he uses the pistol or smg and people accuse him of being a cheater. Having watched those videos, I tend to just assume people who are constantly hitting their shots as good players and not cheaters in fear of being in a video where I look like an idiot. I get your sentiment though and this video and hopefully the rest of the series will give me the courage to actually be skeptical
@@TrashBash-pu2nq thats a fair point, what i usually do is say on the mic theres a cheater on our team and wait to call a vote until people take a look themselves, that usually works out
I beg you to do a video on backtrack, autobackstab, and antibackstab. The amount of times I've seen blatantly cheating spies called "ping/interp abusers" is infuriating, on top of people saying the same thing about legit spies just because they were running at them with their melee out.
That is much easier. I've been accused many times for my flicks and it's incredible how many times you randomly turn around and catch a spy trying to backstab you, especially if you're a heavy. But once, I found a player using anti-backstab because when I tried to backstabbed him like twice he flicked so fast but he didn't even react, also because he was a f2p (or maybe a pussy trying his new cheats on second account in case the pussy got banned). For autobackstab is pretty obvious too imo: usually people with this cheats, don't even try to trickstab you, they just go forward like a pyro and pressing M1 and backstab you.
Bro I once got called ill in the head while calling out a cheater using blatant silent aimbot and bhop cheats because the person thought, well if he is on a comp team, he must be legit. Thank you for making this series to educate these idiots.
This brings me back to Max Box's cheating series. I highly recommend those videos to whoever wants to know more about spotting cheaters, even though they are old.
even you trying telling people, there going be mostly same people can't tell different about cheating or not bc of spectate. since these day game mostly are kids or some degen that don't listen people think they always right.
its the sad reality..kind of kills your will of playing the game..if cheaters are allowed but legit no then whats the point even..like become good at it..i just install a cheat and there ya go!...its sad how the tf2 community is like
I'm legit and bots always try to kick me. But thats not the problem. The problem is that other legit players vote "yes" to any votes happening. So I always get kicked and cannot finish my contracts. AND I am Not the only one.
I remember when they kicked an aimbotter, and then banned me after. I was playing demoknight on hightower. I couldn't contest the claim, because F2Ps can't talk.
Something I’ve discovered recently as engineer that bots prioritize the buildings more than the player itself. Useing the teleporters as decoys to know we’re the bot is coming from is super helpful.
Super in-depth, and very detailed, this will definitely help me and my mates spot these rats sooner, thanks for this amazing lesson/tutorial on Silent. Looking forward to the next ones!
Do backtrack next. It's an obscure cheat that takes advantage of the lag compensation allowing spies to backstab players based on their previous hitbox position. Perpetrators of the cheat will have their pings skyrocket to 800 - 900 but their gameplay remains smooth.
saw a guy with shit like this in a community server and his team defended him even though the entire enemy team was saying he's doing wayy too many bullshit stabs
These videos are great, specifically when you need to need to call a vote and don't know in what to base off your judgment on others, I didn't knew this one about silent aimbot, the most commons ones for me are the double tap hack with the force nature scout, they kill you with 1 shot/forced random crit, and the 1 tap heavy. Thanks for making this video!
ayy como esta? but sincerely i feel like this will improve a lot on the game, raising awareness for cheaters is always good,i hope he covers just about everything on the cheats
The sad thing is most players have no clue who is cheating and are just guessing when it comes to vote kicks. Thank you for the education. The more we know the better. The one hack I am curious to know more about is the one where the player has high ping like 700+ and somehow are top scoring. They almost always are playing spy. They spin around in a circle 5 feet in front of you and it registers as a backstab. Its some sort of interp/high latency/ping type hack. Its pretty easy to spot with the insane high ping and shady backstabs but I would like to know more of what exactly is going on. Thanks for this series. I enjoyed it and hope you keep it up:)
This is called "fakelag", where you can backtrack players from seconds ago. The cheat will search a tick where your "back" was available for the cheater to hit, then stab you.
as well on top of what the other dude was saying, if you are on high tower or some map with a pl cart, they can use their fake lag while cloaked by the cart to boost their score extremely fast, so if you ever see an invisible spy on your team next to a cart and their points are just going up constantly, boot them
"I've almost never seen a cheater play with tiny silent FOV settings." This might be an example of detection bias. You're much less likely to notice people cheating more subtly
This video was super informative, thanks man. I hope you talk about fake latency cheats. It seems like most of the playerbase knows what they look like, but not how they work, myself included.
Fake latency really just “tells the server” you’re lagging and you need to have a lot of lag compensation which allows you to “send players back in time”
A sneakier silent aimbot which will allow you to hit many more things than triggerbot is to have a delay. Have 3 FOV. If it's in ring 1, move over for 1 frame, then spend 3 frames moving back to where you are really aiming at. In ring 2, move over for 2 frames, then spend 6 frames moving back to where you were really aiming at. In the biggest FOV ring, move over for 3 frames, then spend 9 frames moving back to where you are actually aiming.
in a tf2 sourcemod I got kicked because my friend gas-lit everyone into thinking I was hacking. and Im not good at tf2 so i don't understand why people believed him 💀
So that's why so many cheaters are so damn confused when you say "He's snapping like a Peanut locked in a room with D-Boys" and they cry "I'M NOT SNAPPING!" they literally can't see it! The more you know!
Hey Voro. Wanted to say I loved this video, it was super informative and very helpful. My favourite part was your idea of dividing it into chapters, and even doing little reviews at the end. As a teacher myself, that's exactly how we were taught to give information. It looks wonderful and I love the way you did it. Music is nice, explanations are clear. Parallels are made and many examples were given. Really well done
This is not only good for detecting cheaters, but it’s also good for telling if the person in question is actually cheating or not. Maybe these videos will make a lot more people not kick legit players for simply being good.
I hope people in Australian servers see this video About half of the player base in Aussie servers are cheaters I literally can't go one match without having to check the database!
hate to be that guy, since i'm a blatant cheater, but the easiest way to tell the difference between a good person and a cheater is just game experience, there are so many little things that most cheater's don't care to do or lack game experience, still like these videos, glad to see someone informing the masses for the first time in 7 years.
2 years ago at the cp_orange GoTwin said "I'm not a cheater, I haven't ever used it before and I will not". Then, he appears in the video while demonstrating silent aimbot. Ha-ha, funny. This guy is a joke.
this series will be godsend. because a suprising amount of people dont actually know how to spot cheats that arent uber blatant. and there's also an annoying minority that act like they know someone is cheating without actually knowing anything about real cheats/how they work or without ever proving the accused of beyond reasonable doubt cheating and just depends on people F1ing without asking questions or for proof which leads to false kicks, reports, etc. I assume this will lessen when people become more educated as more episodes come in the future ❤ looking forward to it
these are an excellent way of spotting cheaters, though in my experience I think the hardest part of identifying them is 'calling them out by name'. What I mean is, your in the middle of gaming and your team calls out a cheater on the opposite team. you open up leader board and dont see any one in particular right away so you ask 'Who is it?' even eye the kill feed and dont see anything off the bat. They never fucking name them or say nothing else the entire game. This happens SO much in games I play its beginning to feel like a meme or just salty bitches just crying about nothing. Least with this video I now have a chance to know what im looking for without playing guessing games, very nice vorb.
Just installed tf2, 2nd day playing it, i was on 2fort and since i was a f2p i couldnt say anything, and so me and my team saw a cheater on Blu named "Orchid" and he was basically using silent aimbot without his team mates knowing. So 2 of my team mates decided to step up and called him out, the cheater got pissed and decided to argue with them, even worse was that the Blu team didn't wanna kick him, moments later some of us dominated him and when the round ended he ragequitted. BONUS : While this was happening, a russian kid and a ukrainian teenager were arguing about the Ukrainian war agaist Rusaia and started throwing slurs and mocking each other.
Couple questions: 1: how does cl_interp affect the flicks? I've seen footage of heavies I think are cheating. On closer inspection there's a couple in-between frames on their flick, however I'm not sure if that's because they're innocent or because I use interp 0.035, thus smoothing what I see. Any way I can tell the difference? 2: This info's really helpful for the community anticheat I'm developing, which is based on demo recordings. I'm definitely a lot more optimistic seeing that even 1 fov silent aim can be detectable. What kinds of cheats do you think would pose the greatest challenge for a demo-based anticheat?
1) better to send clip which you are talking about 2) awful idea because demo recordings are showing you super low tick update rate with makes all movements super snappy and because of that it's hard to tell! Easiest way would be just to detect much blatant things which little anticheat does rn, but it's not perfect but works!
I'm glad someone is picking this up after max box left the scene. we need as many people aware of all the types of cheats as possible. also a thing to note is silent aim will continue to track an enemy like plain aimbot for certain weapons for as long as the aim key is held down. some cheats use this to try to prevent snapping to unintended enemies when finding targets for the aimbot.
@rvgr yeah, that was part of his charm. he was an ex-cheater that wasn't afraid to lift up the hood up for those that wanted to know how prevalent cheaters are, and how to spot them. he was considered an anti-hero to the community.
@@bronzetrophy2171 an anti hero sure he was a cheating nerd and all he had to do is say sorry and the fan base just excepted him but it is a smart grift cheat and make videos then say sorry to the idiots and be wholesome
@@rvgr ya its a good grift cheat and say sorry and if the whole fan base forgives you then its a win also he still had lmaobox because he open it on a deleted stream and whose to say he did not cheat on an alt account
I generally don´t mind cheaters, the good once ain´t trying to hide it and don´t go nuts with them, often getting killed by just not trying as hard and leaving common stats on the scoreboard. They just do it to chill will playing and not haveing to break a sweat, just to have a fair play against veterans or tryhards. Sadly they have become a rare breed. Most cheaters these days seem to go as hard as possible and ruin your day, if not makeing that there goal in the first place. The epitome of that being all those bots that are crawling around.
Some time ago a dude kill me ( Sniper) without aiming And in a insane reaction time( i was behind a wall) I told blue to check the Sniper (And some of the team) And he call me trash salty ( he was using silent aimbot and some kind of wallhack )
This makes even worse for me. The amount of ignorant people I see, they don't care if the suspect has 3 times the score of all people combined on the server, they will vote 'no' kicking. Either ignorant, or payed premades, playing together.
Vorobey, I want to thank you for making this video. Just today I had a cheater on my team using silent aimbot and I was the only one who called him out. The votekick failed because my team didn't know what aimbot looks like. Hopefully many people watch this video and are better able to spot cheaters from now on, and together we can get rid of them.
glad to see something like this! used to love watching maxbox's videos explaining how to spot a hacker, so sad that he kind of fell off the face of the earth. keep up the great work, vorobey!
Funny part is that even after this series is over, people will keep accusing legits of cheating faster than actual cheaters. Expensive Hats = Skill, duh.
i joined a tf2 trading plaza and then somebody was using slient aimbot, our team had like 6 snipers, we got him and sometimes he just leaves and rejoins, thanks for explaining about slient aimbot!!
I can't tell if I'm oblivious or I'm just lucky but I dont really encounter cheaters when I play (Other than bots) or I'm just not high enough ranking in tf2
This helps a lot, there's a greats amount of players who don't even know the basics of Cheats in Tf2, so they don't kick their cheaters even when a whole team accuses one person for using them, thank you for sharing this information in such a dedicated way, you are amazing ♥️
@@user-tq3cn9ct2eI hate opera GX and all but everybody on the internet technically has your public IP address, otherwise you couldn't communicate with anything
Its sad to say, but youtubers need to eat, sleep and live in 4th walls. all these "Video was sponsored by [blank]" for me is just "Listen dude, i need money ok? you mind listen or skipping like 15-60+ seconds of video to continue the video? thanks, great, i can put something beside bread and butter now"
Hi! Server Manager here! I've dealt with many cheaters during my time with the server I'm with, and all the info in this video is spot on. I look forward to seeing the rest of what you have to offer for how to spot cheaters :)
I wonder... *what if there was a weapon in the game that had silent aim? * not a sniper rifle obv, but like what if there was an engineer shotgun that was described as an "auto aiming shotgun with lower damage". like the cone of the shot would follow the closest enemy near the crosshair, but with a -25% damage penalty or a -33% clip capacity. idk just sounds like a cool weapon, would definitely be a noob crutch tho.
I remember playing a game and I flicked a lot because of the way I aim, a guy was spectating me and said that I was a cheater, seconds later he said "nvm, his aim just sucks"
Again, as I’ve said this a few times: this is why online is bad. There’s probably more cons to playing online than good. It doesn’t take long to adjust the sensitivity and practice aiming. I’ve been doing it since started.
let me spare the people 19 minutes. Crosshair. Circle. Circle around crosshair, if enemy in circle, shoot at enemy head for player, whilst crosshair isn't even aimed at them. I know this because I've seen videos on it, I have crap aim, but I put up with it, I wouldn't start ruining the game for everyone else.
I remember I was on a community server and this one guy never missed a headshot, and when I became a spy and stayed close to my teammate, the sniper killed me first even though I was cloaked, so I spectated him and his camera was snapping to their heads like crazy, I called him out and he left immediately
I got called out for using this and I didn't know what it was, while playing loose cannon demo... and later by the same person something I have never heard of. Had to watch this video so I know why tf I got called out for this. Turns out it was just someone who jumps to the easy conclusion when killed and blames cheat whenever they die... I just think that they never heard of flicks that miss and then after explode when its grenades
