You switch me on to this, mate. How are you doing?

I've got a pair of SwitchBot Curtain 3s myself for two curtains on the same rod and it works great for opening but closing is a slight problem because my curtains don't quite come together at the bottom so I have to adjust them by hand. It's not a major issue because the bots close the curtains a good 94% but it's just a little annoying. I haven't tried the magnet yet but I doubt if that would make any difference as the problem is at the bottom, not the top, they close fine at the top. Does anyone else have this issue?

As in the curtains sag at the bottom creating a gap? Have you tried to give a bit more material in front ot the SwitchBot to even it out?

@@notenoughtech Thanks. I'll give that a go when I have some more time. I'm quite happy with the overall performance of the SwitchBots though. They do a sufficient enough job that I can say it was money well worth spending and I RARELY say that 😀

Why do you need to tell it the best charging position? Surely it can tell that by how much light it has coming in>
@notenoughtech
@notenoughtech Год назад
It's actually harder than you think. Multiple runs would be required to define best charging positions annoying you in the process. How would a light sensor know if the panel is behind the shadow cast by window, nearby try or a cloud? You'd be surprised how simple is judge great charging position in minutes by a human.

@@notenoughtechTrue, it'll depend on how smart the system is. I was thinking along the lines of the left cells are producing more power than the right, so shift left a bit. But considering how close these will be to your windows you should be able to set it up in the most obvious place. Also moving it just to gain a little more power would probably use more than you gain.

@gordon861 it's more about avoiding the obvious shadows that often travel across the day.

Great video but how are these comperes to aqara? And also do i still need a hub if i have HA with active Bluetooth. I dont want to buy another hub just for curtains 😁
@notenoughtech
@notenoughtech Год назад
I have a separate video about the aqara ones. As per hub ... I think someone tired the Bluetooth in HA but I'm not sure how this ended up. Btw switchbot hub are also IR blasters. And hub 2 is even more so worth checking as you will have access to API

@@notenoughtech thanks for the quick response ! I have an aqara M2 hub and for HA and Alexa that doesn't expose anything other than on off state. That made me shy away from company hubs. Need to use their app and automations can't control anything else. If I get these I would like to use light sensor to turn on aqara switches, wifi bulbs and wled with that as a trigger. Is it possible? Sorry for the long post and thanks for your time 👍watching the API video btw
@notenoughtech
@notenoughtech Год назад
Some state tracing would be possible but ideally you want something like HA or nodered to handle trigger/state management

I own a switchbot bot, the hub 2 and the lag is awful (3-4 seconds) when using the hub 2's button/buttons to activate the bot (no other smart system involve, hub 2 right beside the bot, everything with last update). I see no reason why it would be any different with curtains. BTW, I also own 2 external temp/humidity sensors and there are no freaking way to toggle between them and the hub's own sensor (cable) using the buttons. What a stupid limitation. I was about to invest even more in the whole ecosystem (curtains, buttons, door sensors) but the lag is a no, go.

Have you checked with support? Mine was on pre release firmware but I'll make the update and see if that's an issue
@sylvainmichaud2262
@sylvainmichaud2262 Год назад
@@notenoughtech Not yet. Just moved in new place (sounds familiar?) and contacting support wasn't on my priority list. I have made sure that all device had latest firmware through the app., deleted and reinstalled devices, ... The bot on its own work just fine through the app but once I try to control it through the hub, the lag is terrible (3 - 4 seconds).

@@notenoughtech I have retested and measured the lag time on many occasions and it's not 3-4 seconds as I thought but rather 8-9 sec between the moment I press on my Hub 2's button and the reaction from the bot. Directly from the app, activating the bot takes 1-3 seconds. All this with devices i.e. phone, router, Hub 2, Bot close to one another (less than 3 feet).

They look and perform just like the curtains at our local crematorium. Not very happy memories! Edit: or they would if they were wide enough and closed completely.
