Lois Weber was an American trailblazer for females in the film industry as an actress, director, producer, and company owner. She produced and stared in this piece “Suspense” (playing the mother with child). In 1916 she was the first woman admitted into the Motion Picture Director Association.
In this film notice Weber’s use of high angle shots, split-screen editing, and the choreography for the chase scene. All of these things were ahead of their time.
