So that staircase scene wjth Angela has quite a bit to it. When she says "You see it too? For me, it's always like this." This line and Eddie's area imply that James, Angela, and Eddie have all been experiencing different versions of Silent Hill. The one we see for James is that of Disgust, Rot, Decay. This also implies that everyone sees different monsters or creatures as well. Eddie is unique because we can tell right away from when we meet him. In the bathroom puking scene, you can see Eddie's breath as if the air around him is cold, but James breath isn't the same. And isn't the room, because it happens again in the theater where they're both in the same room. Eddie's nightmare was cold and a freezer, which represents the way he feel the world treats him and the way he started viewing people as meat. And Angela's firescape represents her abuse, again, but also her own self hatred and self blame. The Abstract Daddy was was physical manifestation of Angela'a abuse and trauma from when she was younger. The Red Pyramid Thing (The official name is Red Pyramid Thing, Pyramid Head is just a nickname) is a physical manifestation of James' guilt for killing his wife. And the reason Pyramid Head gave up and died was because James stopped running away and accepted his guilt. After that, there was no further need for Pyramid Head to exist. Also all the creatures we come across are weirdly sexual in nature. The weird sexiness of each enemy is meant to represent James sexual frustration during Mary's time of sickness. The nurses are sexy because Mary was often tended to by young attractive nurses, and he would have a lot of pent up of sexual desires. The Legs, or the Mannequin, represents the objectification of women. They're literally just two sets of legs. And the Lying Figure could represent a lot. It could be representative of Mary's illness, being constrained and immobile. The acid it spits also being a part of Mary's sickness or the harsh words she would often throw at James. This is all to say that Silent Hill shapes the world and its creatures, to reflect to our characters state of mind and use it against them. Either they are consumed by the world like Angela and Eddie, or they leave like James does in the Leave ending. Laura on the other hand. I believe she isn't affected by Silent Hill, and Silent Hill is still a normal functioning town to people without crippling traumatic mental problems. So people like us should be unaffected by the town. James and Mary went on their Honeymoon in Silent Hill, so it had to of been, or still is a normal town to normal people. The Silent Hill James, Angela, and Eddie enter and interact with is real, but it's only real for them. The monsters and creatures are also real, but are created entirely by Silent Hill and exist within the cursed Silent Hill.
So you basically got the good ending. Maria is a representation of Mary before her sickness. I believe in a sexual or lustful way. Either way. The girl was a real person. She was sick in the same hospital that Mary was. Also to her SH was just a town. She didn't have any guilt for SH to turn into monster's, so to speak. Also, you can barely make it out, but if you looked in the backseat you would see Mary's body wrapped in her deathbed sheet. Hence why things were wrapped in white sheets in James' Silent Hill. This also shows that James just recently killed her. James mentions Mary died 3 years ago because in his mind that's when the Mary he knew DID die. Also in later games Pyramid head became an entity of some sorts, but in this game it repesents James' guilt

The fact that you stayed through the whole Mary hallway memory sequence shows how you actually care about what is happening in the story. Most people that have done playtroughs just run past it. You’re the goat Lerious ❤ Edit: also at the end just to clarify James DID kill Mary. She was diagnosed 3 years prior that’s why she “died” in his eyes because she became a totally different person after and he went through years of verbal abuse and became an alcoholic. He killed her in her bed via suffocation when she visited home about 3 days before the game starts and her body is in his car’s backseat
So to explain the lore about the town of Silent Hill itself requires... digging... at strange angles in places. It's known that there is some form of darkness to the town itself, and in some of the games there's a cult trying to exploit the darkness to bring about their "god" (even if the games are on the retro side you should give them a gander, namely 1 and 3 for the cult-y stuff), and sometimes the town does have a single individual who shapes the Otherworld, and Silent Hill 2 fits into a part of the timeline where that "perfect soul" is missing, so the town reaches out and lures those with a similar darkness in them to it. What we see is what the town projects for James (with a small bit of overlap with Angela and the Abstract Daddy, but even then we don't see what she sees). In the end we never see what Eddie or Angela sees, and while we know Eddie failed to overcome his darkness it is heavily implied that Angela does as well. Also in that last scene with Angela, there are two things hanging on the wall to the left. Both represent her father and her brother. Will continue to keep THAT backstory PG so... both were horrible people, and I'll leave it at that.

At the beginning of the game he does tell Angela "I guess I don't really care if it's dangerous or not." He was deadset on finding Mary, no matter what. James, Angela, and Eddie show a general lack of self preservation, and it only increases over the course of the game.

So it’s confirmed that Laura actually cannot see any monsters in the town at all due to her being innocent compared to James and the other characters. To think that she was just a little girl walking in an isolated and creepy town by herself is kinda unsettling.
apparently in the at the start of the game you just killed mary and thats why james was so freaked out in the bathrooms and if you no clip at the start of the game you can see the blanket in the car of james and thats mary's body 💀

When you completed the mirror puzzle then put an apple on the table you chose the "bad apple" I wonder if that was a representation of James seeing himself as a bad apple.if you chose the "good apple" I wonder if the direction of the game would have changed. Also later in the game you had 2 eggs a "bad egg" and a "good egg" I also wonder if that would have changed the direction of the game also. Just my thoughts though. Another this is do we know what the numbers on the back of all the pictures represent? Hmm so many questions.
Truth be told, I ruined the endings for myself because I had no control when RU-vid suggested: "All Silent Hill Endings Explained." They still don't make complete sense except for the silly off story line endings lol Overall, I enjoyed the game play
