Yamaoka was saying that during the first part he was only experimenting and had barely any idea how to make industrial music ... and this is the result. This man is a genius
Who listens to Silent Hill every day? I do - I have a playlist of about 50 different tracks, even play it in my car. Amazing. I'm 45 years old as well (damn, time fly's!!!) :)
Oh, heck! Glad to find an elder peep also still kinda obsessed with Silent Hill and it's music! I'm in my 20's, my mom's around your age, she was the one to get me into it. 😂
I'll always listen to these tracks. They're ingrained in my mind. Whenever I listen to Yamaoka's music, it's like coming back to a bar I'm a regular in and ordering 'the usual'.
I have learned I can't do that. After choosing a song I liked as my alarm, I began to associate it with having to wake up early. It has become a song I immediately skip
@@JoeBob189 You gotta set different songs as alarms for different days of the week dude, that way you'll wake up hearing something you like without it becoming annoying
@@juggernog_consumer I remember my first playthrough, I got the bad ending since I didn't have a walkthrough, and I literally didn't know what to do with the bottle when I picked it up, I remember being dumbfounded when I looked up on where to use it lol
This song is significant to me for two reasons. 1. I heard it back in 2002 after beating a used copy of Silent Hill on the PS2. 2. After listening to this track for 10 minutes, I put in a new game called Kingdom Hearts.
I think Pianissimo Epilogue is better. It's hard to explain why it's the best. Maybe because it's not meant to represent any character, only you. I don't know, something about it seems right. Though I love this song.
You're right, I just have more of a connection to The Rank Screen Theme of Silent Hill 1, the finish line being crossed after a very scary tough psychological grind.
yeah, i really appreciate sometyhing that loops but you never realise its looping. thats some definite amazing shit right there. i think it has someting to do with 3 or 4 themetic changes and then the drum loops having transitions into the themes and then the themes also having this overall feeling that its all one. iunno im alkmost there i can feel it.
It's funny to me that out of all the people that worked on this game, of all aspects of this game, Akira Yamaoka and the OST get a lion's share of praise. It makes sense. You can beat the game and keep the memories but the music keeps it all alive in your head.
Best Horror game ever. Best game score ever. Best creative game genius ever. Nothing has the pure twisted dark atmospheric sense of dread like this game.
Oh my god... So much nostalgia with this song. I remember when I first finished this as a kid with my cousin, I actually started dancing. Out of the original 3 Silent Hills, this one is the most underrated.
God bless you all, who had the opportunity to play this masterpiece, in my case, I only had the chance of meeting this game with their excellent OST. Really, I wish I had the time for playing this game...
Yeah :). Its so nice to hear if you got good+. My first playthrough which was around 2019 I got Bad and I felt so bad. I finally got around to replaying it last July and finally got good plus. It was so satisfying to finally see Harry and Co escape Silent Hill and listen to this beautiful track afterwards
For me this particular piece sounds like ascending the stairs after enermous work has been done. Literally, bell-like sound motif feels like the heavy steps of a tired man...
I only got 1 star on my first time playing this and I beat the game in 9 hrs, 42 min, 25 sec. But I guess I missed a lot items because of the rank I gotten.
Chill and sexy. Someone could remix this and make it clearer. Although I kinda like it a little muffled and old. Silent Hill 3's rank screen always made me sad. We will miss Harry forever.
Side effects may vary when listening to this ost, such as: -the urge to breakdance -the urge to sit in the edge of a building's roof at night -the urge to headbang -the urge to go for a walk at 3am
Eternal beauty.. I just moved house and found myself drawn to this place which is a lot like Silent Hill... at night I walk around in this quiet sleepy town, in the rain, listening to the extremely beautiful Silent Hill soundtrack... it is very healing.. though the only monsters to be encountered here are only to be found in one's own mind..
Ya know, that game was giving me barely nothing but stress, I did not understand the plot at all... And i still wanted to return and continue, dont know why, it's so strange. Godlike game, thanks Team Silent MODE: NORMAL GAME CLEAR: 1 ENDING: GOOD+ SAVES: 46 CONTINUES: 4 TOTAL TIME: 9:12:33
Wonder what various pieces / artists influenced this. Made in the 90s, so the composer Akira grew up in the 70s/80s , so he had that to pick from, plus experience with his training + 90s influences at the time.
This and Simpsons Hit & Run Legitimate Business will go down as the best video game music ever. Both songs play the same notes in a loop for about 10 mins and I can listen to it nonstop.
