Horror is usually playing with what you know sets off the mind from creepy music (and sound, suspense building audio, like the Jaws theme when it was first out), to commonly disturbing visuals (human-esque figures, insects and spiders, death or disfigurement, etc).

No it doesn't. Remaking a game from 20+ years ago is not chasing the past, it's finally being able to do what they couldn't do back then. This is not even set in Silent Hill and it doesn't have the classic atmospheres of Silent Hill. Silent Hill 2 remake is objectively the best announcement. Stop being edgy because it's pathetic.

It was a perfect storm that came out just right, and any attempts at "improving" it (like the supposedly "fixed" voice acting in the HD Collection, and the 3rd person view they seem to be going for in the remake rather than fixed camera perspective which takes away from the atmosphere and makes it seem like a generic 3rd person shooter) are inevitably gonna take away at least some of qualities that made it so great in the first place. The only thing edgy and pathetic here is you using "objectively" wrong while on a high horse about a video game.

Yeah. Being a Japanese setting kinda make the title of the actual town, Silent Hill, pointless because you cannot have that the same name in Japanese.

Remember how Silent Hill 3 started? Was in Portland first as The Cultist; Claudia started painting those rituals to summon the Fog and Nightmare Realm to lure Heather into. The extent of Silent Hill bacons those at it's will but can be channeled by those that follow it's religion.

Well, with Downpour and Homecoming the thing was made with "Rule of Cool" in mind, monsters didn't actually have anything to say about the characters or the story, this seems to be pretty different, but also has this Japanese classic horror vibes.
