Alex Camarena performs "Trilogy" with Silent Planet live at The Loft in Atlanta, GA. (2020) Drum mix tutorial: • Mixing a kick drum for... Mixed by Chris Ghazel: / redcl0ud22
Glad I could mix this for y’all ✌🏼 EDIT: since people are asking, there's no drum samples or triggers of any kind in this, and everything you hear in video is live audio that I multitracked during the set and mixed later at home
That China sounds wonderful, but the overall kit is killer. Alex is truly an underated drummer, and SP and underated band. The song is beautiful and the drums in this song are so well written (an played tho)
@@devinhernandez5195 I’ll answer you. As of recently, he’s endorsed by Zildjian, so his cymbal choices have changed, but I can give you all of the cymbals in this video. 16" Meinl Byzance Extra Dry Hats, with a Meinl tambourine on top, 20" Extra Dry Crash, 18" Meinl Classics Custom Dark China I think? If it’s not that, it’s a 20" Byzance Brilliant China. 24" Meinl Byzance Jazz Prototype, then a 22" Meinl Byzance Vintage Crash.
@@loveroflife1438 their front of house guy took a board feed into his DAW and mixed it after the fact. Chris something. Forgot his last name but he has a video about and God damn me if this isn't the thickest sound kit all the way around.
Dude, this has been sound replaced and is a remix from the live mix haha I I garuntee this is not what the kit sounds like like haha that snare has at least 3 added snare sample layers. Sounds so unnatural lol the whole kit has been sound replaced and there is 0 tone in the Tom's lol I mean it sounds good for sure but it's not the real mix dude haha
Outside of the obvious--shell material, ply(ies) for wood, diameter and depth; skin ply(for batter/reso[coated/not coated])+muffle accessory+batter/reso tension+chain setup+attack strength=chest boom. This can be achieved on so many snares, that it's truly about setup. Bet you could get your current snare--unless it's a super shallow piccolo--to sound similar.
I hope that doesn't come across condescending, lol, because I totally didn't mean it to if it does. You more than likely know your sh*t. For some reason, your simple comment got my thinking gears turning and I was just thinking out loud, so-to-speak.
I was supposed to see them next week along with fit for a king (headliner), gravemind and invent, animate 😭😭 The show was rescheduled to october but who knows if the lineup will stay the same
I heard this song live when they were in chicago during their tour. It was unreal plus Garrett dove off the second story balcony into the crowd with me :) that was fun and unforgettable.
I’ve just gotta say that I saw these guys live in KC in February. Unbelievably incredible show all around, and Alex’s drum sound is so penetrating and sharp live, it’s absolutely surreal.
Not only the lyrics, concept, or vibes, but the drum work in this song also absolutely amazing. Together they are an art, this song is fucking amazing!
Saw them for my second time in RVA this tour and I’m patiently waiting for any media from it. This is so clean though I never get tired of watching Alex play. The guy is just too damn good. All around they’re just the nicest people who make the best music
Every so often RU-vid sends a suggested video some I watch some I don’t,BUT I AM SO HAPPY I CHOSE TO WATCH THIS VIDEO!!NEVER HEARD OF THESE CATS BFORE,BUT THEY FUCKING ROCK!!!
I never comment ever on videos, But jesus Alex is hands a Legend in the making. Such a treat to watch and enjoy his playing. So smooth and precise at the same time.
I was at this show, unfortunately the last show ive been too cause of the shutdown. It was a perfect show to endure right before everything went crazy and locked down. They put on a fantastic show.
this song has a weird 7 feel. like it’s 4 the entire time but during the verses it sounds like they could’ve done some 7 shit, something that Silent Planet is familiar with. great video
