I'm aware of how fat and broke I am lol.

Are there any prayer words you actually say inside your head or do you just be still and just try to let the thoughts go away?

It's a Christian idea. To identify with thoughts is to identify with the flesh and be a slave to sin. The Bible says to take every thought into captivity.

This is all tapping into the "heart brain". There are complex ganglia, neurotransmitters, proteins and support cells that actually send more information to the brain than from the brain to the heart. Science has discovered that when you calm yourself/obtain more regular heart rhythm you can achieve "heart intelligence". Rebecca Campbell God communicates with us everyday, for some it's hard to know and they get lost, because they don't know how to hear His voice, since it's not an actual voice, it's more like a knowledge that comes directly to your heart. it's hard to explain it with words and that is the point: language is a human mean to communicate to one another, it's quite efficient but not perfect. God is perfect and He doesn't use human tools, if you are receptive to Him, you will "hear" His perfect truth, His voiceless voice

(Got a question at the end) S.P. does make sense. Humans are messy, with worldly thoughts. We'd (not all but most) pray for the wrong things. I don't ask for things, prayer is a time of thanks (& that has helped me alot too). Don't pray about what's wrong or what you don't have HE KNOWS IT ALREADY! I do simply ask: *for me & kids to be happy, healthy, & together (an inner happiness).* So far, he has gifted that to me! If we have those 3 things, the rest (material) doesn't even matter to me therefore I am blessed, I go into it thanking him and do my best not to forget it one single day. Question: The Silent Prayer sounds like Eastern Meditation though? I've always been taught & read a couple Christian books ALL of which taught that MEDITATION IS EMPTYING YOUR MIND. When you empty your mind, you allow "other things" to slip right in -evils. That you are always supposed to keep God in your mind "in the presence. " The Bible gives exact instructions on how to pray (if you read it) and this is not it!? I'd love to hear opinions on this.

God knows that man can’t beat satan single handedly, that’s why we have free will to choose God and repent to him for forgiveness. Satan is a fallen angel, the strongest angel that was in heaven. Man is nothing compared to an angel. Jesus overcame Satan and death on our behalf because we ourselves could never do it.

No all you need is Jesus. This is new age meditation that is not meditating on the word of God, it is all about emptying thoughts which is opposite of what kind of meditation we are supposed to be doing in the Bible. It has Buddhist roots and people have become possessed because of this practice before it is very common. It starts out feeling good and then evil things take over. It is opening yourself up to the demonic realm. Look up testimonies from people who meditated, did yoga, and went to other gurus. They commonly talk about how demons come and even possess some. A lot go to psychiatric wards after these meditation retreats, and some even kill themselves. It is satanic.

Don't meditate and pray to enlighten yourself and be better than others but do it with the intention of God's will. That's what I think humility is all about. Humble yourself before God. Let him work through you. Thank you Mr Peterson I was struggling a lot with meditation. Because it realy helped me in the past but I thought it was evil yogi technique. Now i know it's a good tool when I do it to get closer to God. Amen

I also practiced Zen for many years. After I rededicated my life to Christ I continued to practice zen but, like you, I no longer engaged in the chants. Where I practiced was the San Francisco Zen center. The chants there say there is no soul. So obviously I could no longer speak that way. I would meditate and then leave Zendo when meditation was complete and the bowing and chanting started. But, continued practice has been very good for me. You nailed it. My meditation is no longer just about me, my enlightenment ir cessating desire for my own benefit. It is about cleaning the vessel of self ideation and self obsessed concerns, separation from the present moment and God through worry etc. to make a space within that is inviting to, welcoming to and in which there is nothing to hinder, the movement of the Holy Spirit. My new mantra is "I meditate for the purpose of preparing myself, mind, body and soul, as a vessel for the Holy Spirit." Any time I find myself losing focus on my breath, getting caught up in thought tangents etc. while meditating, I speak that mantra to bring myself back to the present, back to my breath so that the emptying out of all the mess that isn't me and isn't God can continue. Then when my meditation session is over, I open my Bible and read whatever passage is there without any preconceived notions of what God wants to show me. I remain ready to accept whatever wisdom, instruction, rebuke or gift that God has for me in that moment. Maybe that mantra might also work for you. Feel free to use it if you like.

Betty Rose same here when I do the silent prayer I sleep so peacefully and no nightmares 🙏💯💪🏼 and I feel the peace within me as my days continue I feel a sense of being in control and not my thoughts anymore!

@Howdy cuz I figured that out when I realized he was calling it "his" prayer. Glory be to God in all things, not man.

His glory is IN man/woman...God shows His Glory in us when we submit to His Authority... Which is exactly what we do when we silent pray, we are submitting to His hierarchy as the provider and giver of Life!!! He wants us to have LIFE abundantly... that means a lot!!! Our Lot in Life is To have a Lot OF Life!!!!

Hey there, hope all is well! This comment in particular resonated with me because I find it so true and agree completely - I was very tired tonight but wanted to go to the gym. I did the silent prayer and when I opened my eyes I felt like I’d just woken up from a very satisfying sleep and I then went to the gym for 50 minutes after 10PM. All the best to you!

@Natalia MasonHave you considered origins of meditation ? There is a left and right hand version to many of the religious practices we have today. Meditation/prayer as Jesse is preach focused on submission to God, meditation in other religions focuses usually on submission to mother nature/ other gods or energies but, I understand from just looking at it they do look the same.

Just curious, how long did you normally do this for? And, do you watch this video each time as guidance?

Cutting out sugar can help reduce those dark thoughts, brother.
