Silent Storytelling is a term I created for storytelling without spoken words. Instead, it utilizes mime and dance choreographed to music, with a stage set and props, to 'tell' existing literary stories.
"The Funny Little Woman" is a Silent Storytelling translation of the book of the same name, which is retold by Arlene Mosel. I've performed this particular story hundreds of times, but in this video of excerpts, I'm performing it at the 2003 Atlin Arts & Music Festival in the Globe Theatre in beautiful Atlin, BC.
Music:
1. Hebereke (performed by Tablatura)
2. Tsuki-no-Sei (composed by Leonard Eto; performed by Kodo)
3. Lion (composed by Leonard Eto; performed by Kodo)
4. Marimba Spiritual (composed by Minoru Miki; performed by Evelyn Glennie)
5. My Homeland (Furusato) (composed by Teiichi Okano; performed by James Galway & Tokyo String Orchestra)
