You might save them from a little bit of the chat and vc brainrot (which they hear at school everyday trust me, even the first grades) but you will isolate them from their friends because they will not know about the trendy gaming stuff and they will be left alone even in things as simple as playing around a playground. And the violence? I never heard of someone doing anything bad because of the violence in a video game. The chances of someone killing themselves because of a videogame are the same for fucking mario kart and mortal kombat. Its not the brutalness of a game that makes it bad.

You can believe what you like, but the APA recommends exactly 0 hours of online violent video game and/or pornography for individuals ages 0-18. Image retention exists, and I highly doubt you could argue that kids should be retaining tf2 gibs. Online games create poor social relationships anyways. If your kid can't connect to others because they don't play these games, it says more about parenting on a larger scale.

I always showed leniency towards kids on TF2 unless they were annoying. I hate when fully-grown adults or teenagers bully or kick them just because they are kids, because back in the day I was that kid who was scared to use voice chat and insecure about my age playing the game. I used to have so much fun on TF2 back then, and whenever I see the younger generations playing this game it brings back memories of my own childhood playing this game. Toxic grown adults being mean to them for no reason just pisses me off to no end. That said, you still shouldn't be using voice chat until you're at least 16.

Also you can't actually really be kicked in a UGC server despite there being a vote kick option because if a vote gets passed the player wont get kicked for some reason.

As one of these kids when I was younger, if he's like I was it was both a threat but also testing the waters. He can't tell if they even want him there so he threatens to leave, and if they do he gets his way and if not, well, maybe he can keep looking for a server that wants to play with him 😂
