OK I just learned a few things. I didn't think to use the fill when cutting the design with solid score lines. I did an extra step before cutting using simple. I would ungroup the design, go to send and then manually select which blade does what cutting. Your way saves me a step! I do have other svg with the dashlines and I hardly use them because I couldn't change it to a solid scoreline. Now I know how to do this. Thank you so much!

I think there are several methods but this is just the one I settled on and works well for me. I am glad it was helpful! 🙂

I wish silhouette made a score tool like Cricut has

Honestly, unless it is a card, I do not recommend using the score tool or score wheel for boxes and other 3D designs. The kiss cut on the Silhouette works so much better. You just have to be careful with the depth. I was hoping the score wheel would be the end all for scoring and sadly it is not. I think it is more of a pain to score with the Maker. At least, that is my opinion. 🙂

Simply Crafty SVGs I have the Cricut Explore and love the score pen with the metal tip. I am looking forward to the kiss cut now. You are full of good advice

I hope it works out for you. I actually have used kiss cuts using the Sizzix eClips for the past 2 years. Since they discontinued that machine, I had to figure out a way on the SIlhouette. Once you get the right setting, it rocks. But my sister loves the scoring on Cricut using the score tool, but sometimes just double scores.

Super helpful, I don’t like the cut dashes it makes project look junky. Did you say that you set the ratchet blade at 0 or 1 to do kiss cut ?
@SimplyCraftySVGs
@SimplyCraftySVGs 4 года назад
So glad it helped. Set the blade to 0. You can use the same technique on dashed lines and it will look better, if a design does not have solid scorelines. I would test it, as not all machines seem to work the same. Just play around with a small design with a scoreline. You really can just make a line to test, rather than waste cardstock. Different cardstock will have different results too. I use mostly textured AC cardstock, so I rarely change the setting. Lastly, I am not sure this works with the Cameo 4, as they changed the tool holders. I have asked a few that have the Cameo 4 machines and they have not found a workaround.

Simply Crafty SVGs I have the cameo 3. I am too nervous to buy the Cameo 4 because I just learned how after 1 yr of learning Cameo 3 and I don’t like the tool changed they did to Cameo 4. Where do you buy your card stock? I am stuck home and want order online because of COVID19

@@meaghanlarsen1618 I purchase American Crafts cardstock multiple places, but my preference is a little company Piecingparadise.com. Free shipping over $50 and they have lots of colors. Paper is heavy, so I usually buy a lot at a time to get free shipping.

Thank you for this video. Does it matter on which side I have the score lines? Would the cardstock fold both ways easily or do I have to flip my design to accommodate for the scorelines? Much appreciated.
@SimplyCraftySVGs
@SimplyCraftySVGs 4 года назад
Since the Silhouette lightly cuts the cardstock, it will fold both ways. Not all cardstock is created equal, so I would test you settings to see how much is scores. I never flip the paper, but again, I would just play around with your settings to see how it works with your paper/cardstock. Thanks for watching!

Wouldn't it be easier to highlight the dashed lines and then go to the line style box and just change them to lines rather than having to make new ones?

Nona Crane That will probably work for a design purchased from the Silhouette store or designed in Silhouette Studio. For the SVG designs imported, that would not be easily done. That is why I offer scoreline versions of the SVG files I design.

I replied under my persona account earlier. I just checked with a few Silhouette designs purchased in the Silhouette design store. I was unable to change the dashed lines to solid lines. I think it is because most of us design outside of Silhouette Studio. However, you can still kiss cut a dashed line do it does not cut deeply. Of course, you could replace the dashed lines with solid lines too, which would be easy for a card.

When I do this, the machine stops after 1 pass and says there is no media ? I simply can't get it to cut the figure and then the score lines.
@SimplyCraftySVGs
@SimplyCraftySVGs 10 месяцев назад
I would highly suggest that you google “no media detected silhoutte”, as there are several potential reasons for this to occur. One is a setting and one I found has to do with a bug in a specific version of Silhouette Studio. Within RU-vid, I found a few videos on the issue too using the same search words. Since I do not get the error, it has to be some sort of configuration on your machine.

Can i use auto blade not ratchet blade for score line with this setting you using?
@SimplyCraftySVGs
@SimplyCraftySVGs 2 года назад
Sorry for the delay. I have not tried, but I do not see why not. There is also a score/emboss material setting now that works fairly well. I would try and test with small test objects.

How do I change the score line and the line that goes around the box. I have a box that I need to cut and just score the other part I just got my Silhouette Cameo 3 I tried the shift key but it stays red.

Hi, Donna. We have information on how to use our files from zipping, to uploading and cutting for Silhouette users on our Silhouette help page at www.simplycraftysvgs.com/silhouette_help/. Please take a look at some of the content. The scoreline can remain a dashed line that can but. Normally, you just select all the files on the mat and then select Cut to highlight all the cut lines and scorelines. This is the method normally used with dashed scorelines. Here is the direct link to the video showing this step: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Grr-rzo-AVg.html

So confusing for newbies.
@SimplyCraftySVGs
@SimplyCraftySVGs 5 лет назад
Yes, I agree. It is just an option. For our files, you can still use the dashed lines to cut score lines. I do not consider this a “newbie” video or technique. I would say it is helpful to be familiar with the software and machine awhile before trying this. Many prefer using solid lines, as they are cleaner looking than dashed scorelines.
