Not even a day and the issue is resolved. amazing to see a gaming community work together like this. I really hope this game takes off and brings new life into this forgotten genre:)
The most OP strategy in this game in reality is expansionism. The first time I lost as an Alien Commander, it was because the human team owned the entire other half of the map. Thus, I had no more resources to throw at them. The same could probably be said if you do the same as Alien. I've found being passive and focusing on QRF seems to be the better long term strategy, especially if you have player controlled units. They can focus on attack, while you dunk on any would-be flanks. Then, when you finally feel comfortable to do so, you start sending the front reinforcements. Besides Foxhole, this game represents how war actually works really well. The passive "Let your enemy exhaust themselves" strategy works really well. The attacking force almost always suffers a greater loss than the defending forces, so most attacks should be made only to create a new line of defense.
So I mention this in the video I think but OBS crashed within the first minute or so of me recording this and so the timings are off slightly. Additionally I'm a melon and definitely made some node placement mistakes, shrimp micro mistakes and so on. When executed properly this can get you 1-4 scorpions + 20-30 impalers by the 10 minute mark roughly. If you spot Galahad in a match or come by the stream sometime when he's commanding Alien you'll see the true power of this early eco focused alien. Edit: That other video isn't out just yet. Later tonight.
I am a former StarCraft player and last night I played silica for the first time. I actually had a lot of fun playing aliens and as an early access I am impressed.
You more or less show how the build is done, the timings are all dependant on your spawning location as well. For example in this video you got a rather unlucky spawn, where the resource nodes were far away from your nest, so you could've easily got the impalers and scorpions coming in a minute or two earlier than here! Great video as always, also 500 subscriber hype!!
that's one thing that I love about this game! with C&C and Starcraft, build orders are absolute because you always spawn at the same base with the same layout. In Silica, there are multiple locations you can spawn at with different layouts, which drastically changes the build orders/timings. So nothing is going to go exactly the same way, plus you always have to scout for the enemy.
I agree , it adds a extra layer of the strategy since x strategy may not work or take too much time if the spawns has a different layout , it encourages different strategies
This game is truly amazing. I can’t wait to see what it becomes years from now with all the new strategies and guides. if anyone out there is wondering if they should try it. I say give it a go, definitely worth a try.
Use the crabs you start with, send 1 to each corner of the map + high areas (mountains/hills) this will allow you to see what buildings the human player has chosen to start with and get info.
@@spiritconsumer So there's another video I'm pushing out publicly later tonight (You can get to it with the card that pops up at 13:39 in the top right). In that video Galahad does this rush alien invasion and I try to rush tanks to counter it and hold him off. It's super close but I think in general the key thing is having actual human players drive your harvesters for at least the first 2-3 batches of resources. This can catapult your tech level and get you to tanks super fast.
I have the problem that I loose track how many shrimps I have and build to many which effectively kills the game because of the lag. One time I built over 250.
i no WC3 like the back of my hand because i spent 4 + years of my teen life building 1 of the first mobas ish/rpg out of it SO i feel this devs pain & i wish to help him .i tried to make a FPS/RTS:(but no luck . and im super proud of him for pulling it of ::) we should all try to help him he probably hasn't seen the sun in years its super hard to do everything yourself i hope hes get a full team because he's got a real gem here
Hey nice video. Are you guys still finding an imbalance in unit spam rush strategy? (Why not puting a limit to the amount of single unit creation according to tech level, instead of buffing or nerfing too much? Not too much of a limiting number, but just enough that it makes it more skill/strat dependable at the beginning of a match) Loving the game, hope to see it grow and improve✌
I think the problem is scorpions generally speaking. Human that has at least 1 player harvester will be able to hold vs Impalers without much of an issue. Try this without a scorpion and see if it works vs a competent human player. Though I think it goes without saying that Impalers might simply be good meat shields for a scorpion rush strategy that Human players always struggle with until the nerf comes.
cheep trick u can build a secondary hive up in a spot he cant get to BUT u need to rush tech i won a bunch of 3 ways because they thought i was dead & came back with a army of big potato bugs
Currently the AI for Bugs is extremely easy! All I do for humans is plot down three Refineries and depending on where and how close the Nest spawned. Depends whether or not I finish the game before First Night Fall
@@TheDeadWizard I cant get it to work either. I have tried so many buttons lmao but it would be so nice to be able to set the crabs to dig and just keep them as a scout could be a great strat but as of now you have to hid them behind rocks and shit lol
i hope he makes the to human factions super different like.... army VS mad max pirate scavengers ...i rather he indent do 2 of the same thing with lame stat tweaks & did like army VS robots/terminators VS bugs/zerg VS protos/predator
A hive should come with defenses, yes, but not because I'm afraid of the Aliens losing, but so that the human players don't spend all their money on a quad rush and then quit as soon as they lose them to a dozen Impalors.
The nice thing about Silica is that not everyone has to be a commander. Only one guy on each team needs to worry about rushes, not every single player.
