Dear Daniel Jean-Baptiste, We really liked your video and music. And my wife and I applaud your talent! Estimado Daniel Jean-Baptiste, Nos gustó mucho su video y música. Y mi esposa y yo aplaudimos tu talento!
Your works are amazing! Really appreciate your sharing. So the paper cone is put inside the plastic sheet one? And how hot should the wax be that it won't melt the plastic? Thank you.🙏🤗
Buenas tardes D. Daniel Jean B, me encantan sus pinturas maravillosas, llenas de tanto colorido y arte que me alegra el alma. Muchas gracias por compartir su Don en los videos que realiza. Saludos Gladys
Your work is just breathtaking. I have been following your suggestions for products and techniques, but I am running into a problem with color bleeding out beyond the resist no matter how carefully it is applied. Do you wash or treat the silk before beginning your painting? Help!!!!!!
You are awesome for sharing your very unique technique. So do you place the silk directly over your original drawing and apply the resist? The wax does not bleed? It looks like there might be plastic underneath also?
Amazing work Jean-Baptiste! Very inspiring :) Do you use G&S Waterbased Resist or Pebeo Waterbased Gutta? I've used clear but I love the idea of adding waterbased paint (liquid watercolour, I assume).
I can't stop watching your art project ...I have used pebeo setasilk for many years. But I can't find the other water color based to paint on silk in USA..I must order them from Canada. ........
May I ask you where do I buy the wax at? And how do I melt this from a pot??? and after it dries I then steam this and wash it to remove the wax is that correct?? thank you.
Thank you, the filled cone will harden eventually, but I put an amount that is used up before this happens. This video should help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wLXPqN375E8.html
This is so interesting! I've been battling with squeezy bottles but this looks so much better. I don't suppose you could tell me what thickness of acetate you use? I've looked it up online and it comes in so many grades, and I don't want to buy some that's so thick it won't bend, or too thin to hold together.
(I used to ice a lot of cakes, and would make little piping bags with pieces of greaseproof paper in much the same way, so your end over end and twist was very familiar to me.)

..Hi Jean...I hope you are still answering questions on this subject... The thing I am curious about is...You say you use water based colorants in your wax?...Don't you remove the resist when steaming or washing the final painting?....and thus remove that color in your design?....
Meow Bang the only way you want to be able to steam it is if you want to wear it, Jean Batiste Does not wear his works, he puts them right to a frame and glass and sets it this way. he is an awesome artist. Does it very well. If you steam your work you must be very careful not to have the other colors mix with your other colors, so they do not get what they look like is pillered colors blended colors, not a good thing if you are going professional.
Hi Daniel Can I ask what paper you use to draw on, I know you use re- mounting spray but mine stuck quite a bit when I took the silk off my paper, think I’m using the wrong paper, be glad if you could help please.
thanks, I have tried other things, that work just as good, When you get your prints do you free hand the large prints or do you make a copy then put it underneath and then outline the pattern. I outline mine with a light box for I can get my silk to adhere by a crayon so I can use my gutta which is water based paint, I use Deco=Art Water Based paint this works wonderful its called Metalics work wonderful you ought to buy from dharma trading.
great I love your work the only problem I have is the stretch board, I bought so many different kinds, I ended up with stretcher boards I pin with tacs on and it works but the problem it leaves little holes on the end of the silk.. I love working with chuermese the shiny silk, it works so well and then I steam it.. Do you steam your work or does it just go into the frame? I noticed when I steam the fading starts.. when I do not steam I place the work directly on a mat and frame it... .Lovely work you do.. just love your work by the way thank you for your responses, everyone who subscribes with me loves your work too.
Thanks for liking my work. I do not steam my silk because I use water based silk paints which cure upon drying. Silk dye fades, so because my work is meant to hang as a painting, I use silk paints that are pigment based and do not fade. To me, silk dyes are more for producing apparel. I only work with 10 mm Habotai silk.
Hi Daniel, I have a question. I made a bunch of acetate cones about 6 to 8 inches long. I tested the flow with water, and it just constantly dripped out even without applying pressure. Will this change because of the thickness of the resist?
What resist brand are you using? Sounds like the resist is too runny, try making it a little thicker, it should pour slowly, as well you need a fine tip.
I haven't put the resist in yet I was just testing the flow. My question was. Once I put the Dharma Trading resist in, will it be thick enough to just stay in the cone without squeezing. The openings are very tiny. However, I made a few different opening sizes.
I figured that may be the case. I re-did all the cones and the opening is very tiny like yours now. My cone is short though ( about 6 inches versus your 8-10 because I have little hands. LOL. BTW you do beautiful work, BRAVO!
Hi Linda: It could be a few things, the resist line is too thin, maybe too much paint on the silk at one time, but the usual cause is that you need to let the silk dry when painting, you can't have areas besides each other wet at the same time. What is the weight of your silk? Maybe the mm is to thick, also I use Habotai silk, I find thicker silks don't allow the resist to penetrate to the other side.
