Hi all!
This is the first development video in my new series about developing "Silkroad Unleashed". This project reimagines the old Silkroad Online within Unreal Engine 5, to show what this game could look like with next gen graphics.
NOTE / DISCLAIMER: This project will NOT be released, since I do not own the game Silkroad Online. It belongs to it's corresponding owners and this video series is only for entertainment purposes.
The first episode is quite a technical one, so bear with me! I try to explain as clearly as possible what steps I took to come this far.

I am sorry guys but there’s been stuff going on in life - most likely there won’t be any next episode anytime soon. This project takes quite some time and since I am working on this solo, the progress is slow. Thanks for all the support guys, it means a lot to me. Never expected this much love for this project ♥️

I love it! I wish one day this will be a thing to play with other players! It looks really amazing and I think its time for SRO to get a "rework" in graphics. Very good project, can't wait to see it move forward. Transforming the ground navmeshes into heightmaps was a very good idea. It seems you haven't implemented yet the walk by clicking on the sky thing, only walking by clicking on the ground, which reminds me a lot of the early emulators such as SREMU :D I will be following this project, keep your work up!

This is really impressive stuff. I used to do pk2 editing back in the day and I had no coding experience but now I'm a computer programmer! I still have no idea how people have managed to reverse engineer some of this stuff to the point that you can recreate it in unreal 5. I don't even know if you remember cruor, perrytje or Jan? They all helped and made early tools for SRO modding community's. The video appears to show some tearing and seems to drop frames. Do you know why that is? Also I love the strange foot physics outside the bandit den at the end. 😉

I would have used the assets available in ue5 and built a whole new world on top of the old world map that way the textures would look new idk

What a waste of talent to spend it on a game that is already developed and in one of the most unreliable communities ever lmao, why not just make a game that kind of resembles silkroad? Joymax won't give you a dime and might sue you and steal your project.
