As a horse person they think they can control the horse ! When they move ! But when a horse decides they had enough they will pull back

They are silly, rude, and disrespectful - Their silly antics are embarrassing.

There is a big sign that tells them all those things. Whichever country I went to visit, I learned a little of that language.

This guard let at least 8 people hold the reins and he said nothing. Now if they touch the reins of another horse there they will think it's allowed. If they get a shout out they will wonder why because this guard allowed it.

I don't believe yelling at people is appropriate behaviour unless absolutely necessary. I think it's heartwarming to see how many people love to engage with the horses and for many it may be the only opportunity they get to see one of these wonderful animals in the flesh. Of course both horse and Guard should be respected at all times but I think a quiet word is preferable to shouting at people who may not even understand what they're being told.

@@annefinlayson6021 Most tourists will not respond to a "quiet word" to let go of the reins. For the safety of the Horse and the Guard, a yell is the only sound that will get their attention. The tourists may love to engage with the Horse thou many do not respect the Horse nor the Guard.

Some nincompoops would go to there with the intention of provoking the soldiers to yell at them. They're that stupid. The other thing is the soldiers haven't got that safety valve, of yelling. I wonder what they think about it. The other I noticed the horse in this one, was more comfortable looking in the mouth area, bit and bridle. Some on othervideos, look a lot better. So this is better.

If they don't' write or draw anything, I suppose it is because they want all these interest towards King's Guard. Actually the videos I look for, are those in which the King''s life guard shouts "make way" or "get off the reins" or "don' t touch the King's life guard". It's so amusing to see the scared reaction of tourists. 😊

If I were the guard that would be my feelings and about to explode.

It’s misleading. If you look closely you will notice that this video repeats the clip of one man holding the reins (and the guard telling him quietly to stop) three times. Once it’s played in slower motion. RU-vidrs really seem to like videos of rein-holders and like to comment about them, so the videographers produce what’s popular.

What are you even talking about? I've seen many of these videos, and they yell at tourists all the time for touching the reins or the guards themselves. I live for that yelling...love it.

People know nothing of the sort! To visitors from abroad (and most of them from home) the Horseguards are just one of many tourist attractions they will be seeing during their short visits. They don’t really know what is going on or why there are guards in ceremonial uniforms on horses here. They neither know nor care whether a guard can yell at them or not.

@@lyndachristen6136Before making crass, churlish comments perhaps do a little research first. After an official complaint was made, the Guards are no longer permitted to shout. Also, the warning sign warning of the horse potentially kicking or biting and refrain from touching the reins has also been removed. “There’s none so blind as those who will not see” springs to mind! 🙄

If someone pulls on those reins too hard the horse will bolt out of there and leave the rider on the ground.

You don’t have to speak English to know it’s not acceptable to touch any part of a stranger or his equipment or invade their personal space. Touch any of these morons in the same way and see what happens.

English is spoken all over the world and everyone has Google Translate on their phone for any odd word they do not know such as "reins" so there's no excuse anymore. Anyone with a knowledge of French will understand "Do not touch the reins" as it translates as "ne touchez pas les rênes". In Spanish, it is "no toques las riendas". Those languages cover a lot of the planet.

My thoughts too! The tourists are allowed to get too close. Why is this allowed at all! They can still get their photos and selfies. Surely there is a way to enforce this! The sign's need to go back up, with clear instructions in large writing. Visual signs for non speaking English and a way to deny access of getting close. Can lines be put here too? Big red ones 😂! Cause what is in place now is clearly not working. Totally disrespectful to the kings guards and their beautiful horses.

If this helps, many of them are grabbing them near the horse's bit, near or under the chin... some even grabbing multiples.
